A Decatur man has been arrested after allegedly showing up for court drunk and fleeing from the courthouse in his truck. Police used a Taser on him at the end of a chase.

James Earl Johnson, 44, had just been sentenced to 60 days in jail for failing to pay fines for a DUI conviction when he fled the courtroom, hopped in his truck and was pursued by police.

Have you ever seen the movie with Dick Van Dyke in it about the drunk that had to hit bottom and came out of it in the end with the awareness that he was a true alcoholic? I heard it was based on part of his own life.

I haven't seen that movie but yeah, if he hasn't hit bottom he is certainly is sucking mud. Time in the slammer will dry him out & hopefully he can get into a program.
