Cassidy accused of drink-driving

David Cassidy has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, police in the US said.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said his car was stopped last night after it was spotted allegedly weaving and nearly causing an accident.
The former Partridge Family heart-throb told a trooper that he had a glass of wine at lunch and a hydrocodone pill after that.

Troopers reported finding a half-empty bottle of bourbon in the back seat.

The FHP said Cassidy failed a field sobriety test and two breath tests.
Cassidy posted 350 US dollars (£215) bail and was released from jail early on Thursday.

His spokeswoman, Jo-Ann Geffen, reportedly said the star admitted taking a pain pill and being tired from attending a funeral, but insisted he was not drunk.

London, England (CNN) -- Britain's Prince William is engaged to Kate Middleton, the British royal family announced Tuesday.

The prince and Middleton, both 28, have been dating since 2003. Rumors have been rife for years that they have been close to marriage.

The wedding will take place in London in the spring or summer of 2011, said a statement from Clarence House, William's home near Buckingham Palace. It said further details would be announced "in due course."

"Prince William and Miss Middleton became engaged in October during a private holiday in Kenya," the statement said. "Prince William has informed the queen and other close members of his family. Prince William has also sought the permission of Miss Middleton's father.

"Following the marriage, the couple will live in north Wales, where Prince William will continue to serve with the Royal Air Force."

William is second line to the British throne after his father, Prince Charles.

He met Middleton in 2002 when both were students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. They started dating a year later.

Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- Former "Survivor" producer Bruce Beresford-Redman, accused of killing his wife, makes his initial court appearance before a federal magistrate on Wednesday.

Beresford-Redman was taken into custody by U.S. marshals in Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon on a warrant from Mexico, the U.S. attorney's spokesman said.

The "aggravated homicide" warrant, unsealed Tuesday, accused Beresford-Redman of killing his wife, Monica Beresford-Redman, "by asphyxiating her" at a Cancun, Mexico, resort on April 5.

Beresford-Redman was arrested without incident at his Rancho Palos Verdes home, officials said.

"After seven months of tremendous agony, the Burgos family is relieved to learn tonight that Bruce Beresford-Redman has been taken into federal custody," according to a statement from the lawyer for the family of Monica Beresford-Redman. "However, they know that this is not the end in their quest for justice for their sister Monica and are prepared to pursue this horrific tragedy to the end."

Beresford-Redman's Los Angeles, California, lawyer said he was "disappointed" by the arrest.

"Based upon our investigation, he is an innocent man being wrongfully accused by a foreign government," Richard Hirsch said. "We hope that after full consideration of both sides, a federal court will decide not to extradite him."

The couple and their two young children were staying at the Moon Palace Resort. Monica Beresford-Redman's body was found in a resort sewer on April 8.

The initial investigation suggested she "died of strangulation, because of the bruising," Mexican regional police spokesman Adrian Cardena said.

The extradition request cited as evidence several witness statements, including one from two British teenagers who were in the hotel room below where the Beresford-Redmans were staying.

The boys wrote that they were awakened by "screams, crying for help and extremely loud banging from the room above" at 6 a.m. on April 5.

"It sounded like a woman in extreme distress" and lasted for 15 minutes, their statement said.

The document, which used her maiden name, said the couple "had been having marital troubles for some time before her murder."

"The marital problems continued in Cancun," it said. "In a conversation from Cancun on April 4, 2010, Monica Burgos told her sister, Ferreira Burgos, that she had found evidence that [Beresford-Redman] was still in contact with the woman with whom he was having the affair."

Bruce Beresford-Redman was charged with his wife's slaying in May and an extradition request from Mexico was delivered to the U.S. government in June.

The arrest was delayed when his lawyers in Mexico filed an "amparo" with a federal court in Mexico City, a document arguing there is not probable cause to charge him, a defense lawyer said.

Hirsch, in a summer CNN interview, accused the state judge in Mexico of "a rush to judgment" in charging Beresford-Redman, saying, "It appears that this case is being handled in a manner outside the normal procedures in Mexico."

The producer was briefly detained by police in Mexico after his wife's body was found in April. His passport was taken by investigators, and he was told not to leave Mexico until the inquiry was concluded.

Beresford-Redman returned home in May, without the knowledge of investigators, to take care of family business and see his children, his lawyer said.

He has lived in his Rancho Palos Verdes home with his children since May, although his parents have temporary legal custody of the children, ages 3 and 5.

Bruce Beresford-Redman built his career as a Hollywood reality television show producer.

He worked for several seasons on the popular CBS show "Survivor," in which contestants compete against each other in a variety of extreme outdoor scenarios.

He was nominated for three Emmy Awards as a producer on the show and was last credited as a producer in 2004.

He also worked on NBC's "The Contender" and "The Restaurant," as well as MTV's "Pimp My Ride," according to entertainment media company IMG.

Monica Beresford-Redman, a native of Brazil, owned a restaurant in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- Beverly Hills detectives are scanning Ronni Chasen's computers and phone logs for leads to the person who gunned the publicist down early Tuesday after a Hollywood movie premiere.

Chasen's shooting death, in the middle of a posh Sunset Boulevard residential area, stunned the publicists and celebrities who worked with the 64-year-old public relations veteran.

With few clues about motive and no suspect, the homicide investigation is "wide open," Beverly Hills Police Sgt. Lincoln Hoshino said.

The attack happened just minutes after Chasen left a star-studded party celebrating the premiere of the movie "Burlesque," police said.

"We were all on such a high," songwriter Diane Warren said. "And then she left -- I'm guessing about 10 minutes before I did. What on earth? What happened? Why?"

Warren, who was Chasen's client, called the killing senseless.

"They didn't steal anything," she said. "Her purse was still there."

Chasen died after "multiple shots" were fired into her Mercedes, seconds after she drove past the Beverly Hills Hotel on her way home, according to Hoshino.

Police found her car crashed into a light pole after responding to a report of gunfire near Sunset and Whittier Drive at 12:20 a.m., he said.

Chasen died later at Cedars-Sinai Hospital, according to Lt. Fred Corral, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner.

SIERRA BLANCA, Texas – A U.S. Border Patrol spokesman says country singer Willie Nelson was charged with marijuana possession after 6 ounces was found aboard his tour bus in Texas.

Patrol spokesman Bill Brooks says the bus pulled into the Sierra Blanca, Texas, checkpoint about 9 a.m. Friday. Brooks says an officer smelled pot when a door was opened and a search turned up marijuana.

Brooks says the Hudspeth County sheriff was contacted and Nelson was among three people arrested.

Sheriff Arvin West didn't immediately return a phone message left at his home Friday, but he told the El Paso Times that Nelson claimed the marijuana was his. The singer was held briefly a $2,500 bond before being released.

Boston Herald
It’ll be a busy couple of weeks for sometime-actress Jill Quigg. Her latest flick, “The Fighter,” ::box:: in which she plays one of Mark Wahlberg’s seven brawling, chain-smoking, expletive-spewing sisters, just opened to rave reviews. And in January, Jill’s due back in Quincy District Court for a restitution hearing after she pleaded guilty to stealing a 32-inch, flat-screen TV!

Quigg, 35, who got her first shot at stardom playing Amy Ryan’s dysfunctional doppelganger Dottie in Ben Affleck’s “Gone Baby Gone,” was arrested in Quincy in October for breaking into an apartment and stealing the aforementioned flat screen and a computer printer. Taser

Jill and her 28-year-old boyfriend, Georgios Keskinidis , were collared after neighbors reported seeing the pair carting the loot from a house on South Street. Although Quigg claimed she and George were a pair of citizen “crime fighters” who retrieved the items after they caught a black man stealing them, she pleaded guilty to boosting the stuff in November. Quigg got probation and has a hearing Jan. 6 to determine the amount of restitution she must pay.

“She did a great job in the movie,” said Angela Peri of Boston Casting , who got Quigg the gig in “The Fighter.” “I hope she can overcome this stuff she’s going through because she’s a good character actor. Ben Affleck saw something in her, and if she could get her act together, I could probably put her to work. She already has two huge credits that some actors would work their whole life for.”

I like Cher (not as much as the gays, but I think she's OK). I do, however, think she should stop now. She still looks fabulous to be in her 60's, but she is a little past sex symbol status. It's time to be more like Shirley McClaine and make some good movies that don't have T&A in them.

i'd have to agree Cracker...did you see the bondage/dominatrix get-up in (page 6) post #63? 98
i like her too, and she was gorgeous in the Met scene in "Moonstruck". it was a classy look. but this other stuff is trashy.

I admire all women with balls but, if you're a gossip on top of that, it cancels all the good stuff out. Being a gossip ranks right up there with being a liar in my book, you can't be trusted.

I don't know how I got distracted, this was about Cher & her balls.
well MOCK gossip has always been FUN! Multi talk hah
i'm sure this child will have a very gay life.

(CNN) -- Sir Elton John is a father. The boy was born on Christmas Day. And he shall be Levon. Or, more accurately, Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, the singer's publicist said late Monday.

"We are overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment," John and his long-time partner, David Furnish, said in a statement. "Zachary is healthy and doing really well, and we are very proud and happy parents."

John and Furnish formalized their relationship in a much-publicized civil partnership ceremony in 2005 after 12 years together. The ceremony was held at the Windsor Guildhall -- the same venue where Britain's Prince of Wales and Camilla Parker Bowles married. John has a residence in Windsor, outside of London.

The baby was born in California via a surrogate, according to Fran Curtis, a representative for the couple. Curtis said she would not discuss the details of the surrogacy arrangements.

Like his namesake in John's early 1970s hit "Levon," the baby boy was born on Christmas Day and weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces, Curtis said.

In addition to "Levon," where the couple apparently snatched one of the baby's middle names, other classic John songs are likely to take on new meaning, such as "I Guess That's Why they Call It The (Baby) Blues" and "I'm Still Standing" for the toddler years.
