TULSA, Oklahoma -

Tulsa Police have confirmed to News On 6 that an elderly man, who with his wife was brutally beaten by intruders to his home in March, has died.

Bob Strait, 90, was critically injured in the March 13 assault, which took place in the 3300 block of East Virgin Street.

The couple were married 65 years before Nancy Strait, 85, died at a Tulsa hospital from wounds sustained in the beating.

Tulsa Police have named 20-year-old Tyrone Woodfork the principal suspect in the case. He was booked into the Tulsa County Jail and faces several charges, including first-degree murder for the death of Nancy Strait.

Police said in addition to being beaten, Nancy Strait had been sexually assaulted, and Bob Strait had wounds to his face from a BB gun.

TPD said the body of Bob Strait has been transferred to the medical examiner, who will determine an official cause of death. If it is determined his injuries played a part in his death, more charges could be added to Woodfork.

Bob Strait's girls said they could feel his death coming.

"Before, when I would walk by his room taking laundry, he would wink at me and wave and I'd wave back," Strait's daughter Andra said.

Bob stayed in a room at Andra's after Nancy's death. When he woke up, he could see pictures of his beloved wife as well as get well wishes from his great grandkids.

They say he would look at the pictures of his wife of more than 60 years and tears would fill his eyes.

"It was torture to see him hurting, that's torture," Strait's daughter Lanora said. "Losing him is hard, but he's not hurting anymore."

They both believe Bob died as a direct result of being attacked and believe the man in custody should be charged with two murders.

"I believe Daddy would still be with us if he hadn't killed mom," Andra said. "He broke daddy's jaw so he couldn't eat, broke his ribs so he couldn't get up and move around. We did get him up to watch the Braves game, but he even lost that joy."

They hate their mother's last moments on earth were filled with terror and their father's with sorrow but take comfort in the memories and legacy the couple leaves behind.

Nancy was known for her gracious hospitality, homemade jams and quilts. Bob was known for his woodworking talents, making airplanes and cabinets for his kids and grandkids.

"He's asleep," Andra said. "No more pain, no more sorrow for his part. It's what he wanted. He wanted to be where mom was and he'll be buried with mama."

Bob Strait was a paratrooper in World War II. He was with the historic 101^st Airborne Division, where he was part of the D-Day invasion. He was awarded the Bronze Star.

Nancy Strait grew up in a log cabin in Kenwood, Oklahoma, with no running water. She moved to Tulsa to work during the war, and when the war ended, she met Bob.

Three weeks later they were married: Friday the 13^th in 1946.

Wow what a heart wrenching story, I do hope this sorry SOB also gets charged with the husbands murder too, do they have the DP there?

I have a soft spot for O.A.P's and children, I hate seeing either abused.

The shocking news that a Burlington mother’s stabbing death was watched by a stunned teen over a live iPad video chat opens new possibilities and difficult questions about Web evidence in a heavily plugged-in world, lawyers say.

“Welcome to the worst aspect of the 21^st century: cyber horror and its progeny. This is just one more step in a horrible direction,” said defense attorney Jeffrey Denner.

Prosecutors dropped the bombshell yesterday at Christopher Piantedosi’s arraignment in Woburn District Court, saying a young friend of his 15-year-old daughter watched in horror — in real time over an iPad — as Piantedosi slashed longtime girlfriend Kristen Pulisciano to death Thursday, while waiting for the teen to return to her bedroom to continue their online chat.

“This is a very, very difficult case. And it wouldn’t surprise me if we see more of them. In this day and age of video chatting and Skyping, this is the next logical step,” said attorney William Korman, calling it an evolution of past cases of assaults that were captured on 911 tapes as victims pleaded over the phone for help.

“Obviously, the key question here is whether this data was saved on the electronic device or if the prosecution is going to rely on what the witness says they saw on a computer screen. There’s a big difference between the two,” Korman said. “As we all know, eyewitnesses can say they saw one thing, when they saw another. If they knew the alleged perpetrator, it’s a much more difficult case.”

Assistant Middlesex District Attorney Nicole Allain did not identify the teen’s friend or say whether investigators have captured forensic proof of what the witness claims to have viewed — an enraged Piantedosi, 39, throwing Pulisciano on her daughter’s bed and stabbing her 34 times. Piantedosi, who reportedly has a history of mental illness, pleaded not guilty. He was ordered held without bail, and ordered to have no contact with the couple’s daughter and 20-year-old son.

The teen’s friend, Allain said, watched via a live Internet video chat as Pulisciano ran into her daughter’s bedroom and tried to block the door. Piantedosi barged in and threw her to the bed, Allain said, as their daughter screamed for him to stop. Allain said Piantedosi, pinning Pulisciano to the bed, yelled, “You gotta die! You gotta die!” while Pulisciano cried out, “Chris, please stop. I love you.”

“And then the defendant began stabbing Kristen numerous times,” Allain said.

Police found Pulisciano’s body wedged between the blood-soaked bed and the wall, a knife protruding from her neck, Allain said.

The daughter had been drawn away from her room and her video chat by an argument. She went to the kitchen, where she saw her father surrender a knife to her mother. “What, are you trying to kill mom or something?” the daughter said, according to Allain. Piantedosi, she said, became irate, grabbed a butcher knife and followed Pulisciano down the hallway.

There was another case where a murder was witnessed over a webcam. As I recall, it was an Asian girl, in the US, and her boyfriend back home in China saw her killed. I think it was a university and a janitor or someone like that killed her. Anyone remember that?

they were good people and he was a war hero, only to die by a dirtbag in his own country when he should have lived out his life in peace with his wife.

St. Clair County Sheriff Terry Surles said the victim, Katelynn Arnold, was discovered Thursday night outside her home in Ragland, some 40 miles northeast of Birmingham.

The child was taken to St. Clair Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, he said.

Citing laws covering juveniles, Surles would not identify the suspect. A hearing has been set to decide whether he will be certified as an adult.

St. Clair County District Attorney Richard Minor told CNN the suspect was charged in juvenile court with one count of murder and that the charging documents are sealed.

Both children lived with foster parents at the home where the body was found, Surles said.

It was not clear whether they were related to the foster family, he said. "We're trying to find out who's related to who," Surles said.

Asked what the motive may have been, he said, "I have no idea."

But he said he had no doubt that the killing was no accident. "That's why he's charged with murder," he said.

The victim's foster mother found the child in the yard after having searched for her by driving around the neighborhood, he said. "This child was actually touching the ground; it wasn't as if she was dangling on from a tree limb."

Surles said the cotton rope had been tied to a limb in a figure-8 knot, not a noose. "That rope apparently had been used for an old tire swing and I think during a storm last year the tree got blown down. The rope was readily available."

The boy was taken into custody Thursday night, Surles said.

Neighbors had seen the children in the yard earlier in the day, he said.

St. Clair County Coroner Dennis Russell said the cause of death was ligature strangulation. He has ruled the case a homicide, he said.

A newlywed still wearing her wedding dress was found stabbed to death in a bathtub at her suburban apartment just days after her wedding.

Estrella Carrera, 26, was found around 3:30pm on Sunday in the 7800 block of South Rutherford Avenue, in the Burbank area of Chicago, according to police.

Carrera's body was discovered after her sister became alarmed when she could not contact her and asked police to conduct a well-being check at the home, officials said.

When police called at her third-floor home, she was found with multiple stab wounds in an empty bathtub.

Relatives say she was a Spanish language translator for a welfare agency.
Police today declared the death a homicide after autopsy results confirmed she died from stab wounds.

The 26-year-old was last seen around 2am on Saturday, hours after her City Hall wedding the evening before.

She was due to pick up her two children - her nine-year-old daughter and two-year-old son- from a family member on Saturday afternoon but did not show up, according to the Chicago Tribune.

A spokeswoman for the Cook County Clerk's office said that Estrella did not yet have a marriage certificate on file but had applied for a marriage license on May 2.

She just moved to the area about two months ago, neighbors told CW33, and is believed to have married a 30-year-old Chicago man who has not yet been identified.

Her cousin Sandy Lopez said he was the father of her youngest child and it was a quick wedding. They had been in an on-off relationship for three years.

The manhunt continued for 30-year-old Arnoldo Jimenez, who is wanted on a first-degree murder warrant in the slaying of Estrella Carrera, 26, shortly after they celebrated their marriage with friends, said police in the Chicago suburb of Burbank.

"It was a very brutal killing," Capt. Joseph Ford of the Burbank Police Department told The Associated Press later Tuesday. "We do our jobs every day, of course. But something like this really motivates you to work even harder."

JACKSON, Miss. – Authorities in Mississippi say they've arrested a suspect in two fatal highway shootings that happened late at night along desolate stretches.

Mississippi Department of Public Safety spokesman Warren Strain says 28-year-old James D. Willie will be charged with two counts of capital murder in the shootings. He's being held at the Tunica County jail in north Mississippi.

Strain says he was not posing as a police officer in the shootings as authorities previously suspected.

Strain says authorities were able to match ballistics from the shootings to a 9mm Ruger found in Willie's possession when he was arrested.

Mississippi law enforcement agencies had warned motorists that someone may be posing as an officer because the shooting victims had no obvious reason to be stopped on the interstate where they were found.

A mother of two was allegedly trying to hold up a Subway sandwich shop in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but instead of cash, she got the shock of her life.

Police said 25-year-old Lorna Hampton attempted to rob the eatery while her young children were waiting in the car outside, but a quick-thinking employee stopped the would-be robber in her tracks by Tasering her.

The incident that happened shortly before 9pm on April 26 was caught on a surveillance video, which shows a woman entering the restaurant and approaching the side counter.

The store clerk later told the TV station Fox 23 that Hampton pointed what turned out to be a BB gun at him and demanded money, but instead of complying, he raced to the back to fetch his Taser.

At that point in the video, the woman could be seen jumping over the counter and beginning to take cash out of the register. A moment later, the worker returned and shot the robber with his Taser gun, plastering her to the floor.

The employee left the Taser prongs attached to the 25-year-old in case she tried to get up. While the employee and his co-worker waited for police to arrive, they say the incapacitated woman was still trying to rob the eatery.

‘She was still trying to get up and she was still reaching for the money,’ said the employee.

The quick-thinking Subway clerk said he felt bad for the would-be robber, who was weeping and begging him to let her go for the sake of her children.

Officers who arrived on the scene found Hampton’s two-year-old and five-year-old still in the car. The children were later released to a family member.

This is not Hampton’s first run-in with the law. In 2010, she received a deferred sentence on an assault with a dangerous weapon charge, according to court records.

A judge set Hamilton's bond at more than $200,000.
