WAKE UP CALL
#1

This is your wake up call, Mockers. If it's good enough for Spring Breakers in Florida, it's good enough for you.

I'm up. Sitting on the side of the road waiting on a tow truck for my sons car. Thank God it's under warranty.

Pretty tame by spring break standards. What's gotten into kids nowadays? Whatever happened to the fat hairy guy running through the halls naked screaming "wake up mother fuckers! it's party TIIIIIME!!!" Kids these days...

What happened?

When the body shop fixed it after this lady hit him, they fucked up the radiator somehow so it overheated. It's not covered under warranty because it's not a manufacturer defect. $1300 to fix. Geico better cover it or the body shop or Imaybe have to go all NY on someone.

I graduated college, grew up(well a little) and bought a bottle of Nair.

I saw something recently about insurance companies & body shops. Some insurance companies were only allowing business to be done with body shops of their choice. Come to find out the body shops were using inferior parts, parts purchased from junk yards, etc. That's how they were keeping their costs down, they were screwing their clients out of "new" whatevers. Whatta racquet. 78

Not saying that's what happened to you but your story reminded me of hearing about their shady practice.

My panelbeater, or 'body shops' as you guys call them. The best way I think I have found, because I know zero about cars, is again, connecting with people. Over the years I have dealt with these people, they are certified and have a good reputation. I have told the guy if the insurance company 'haggles' you and gives you a hard time, I told him, give me a call and I will sort it out, now that I know how to do. Even before that, those guys have been above reproach. I didn't have to ring the insurance company, they were able to get what they needed.

Can't trust them fuckers. After they take your car apart you have to go over all kinds of stuff and make sure they do things like Fill the radiator with antifreeze instead of water, have the hoses tight, everything was installed back where it is supposed to be and is secure...

My friend Kirk is an exec at Ford and Cherokee Ford where the car was fixed is one of the dealerships he oversees. I went there for that reason and because it's a Geico shop. If this isn't made right, Ford and I are going to have a problem.

This AND if the radiator was damaged in the accident, make em replace it.

I found a trustworthy mechanic. He's actually told me on more than one occasion NOT to fix something seemingly wrong on one of our cars.

Most recently our 2007 Lexus (which we recently sold to my BIL) was burning through oil. He told me just to keep topping the fucker off. He said the car wasn't worth what it would take to tear it apart and attempt to fix it (there was no obvious leak or anything). I've since heard radio ads that confirm what he said "some high performance cars burn through a quart of oil every 1,000 miles".

The seat warmer on my old Acura stopped working. He told me to just deal with having a cold ass.

I love him.

If they try to screw you around you can file a complaint with the state insurance commissioner online. I had to do that once before because the insurance agent handling my claim said that they would only pay a small portion of my rental car expense. As soon as I filed the complaint they had a check in the mail for the entire amount.

That's if Geico would even be responsible for that. I imagine they would if it's a shop Geico uses and not just some random mechanic you picked out on your own.
