My one grandma who died a few weeks shy of her 100th a few years ago and the other who died just recently both were "lonely" in their latter years despite being surrounded by people, some friends and even younger family members. I ended up with my paternal grandma's journal that she kept just up until she died. One entry towards the end in very shaky writing "...so cold, tired, lonely". By the time they died they'd watched (of course) the death of their own parents, their siblings, most if not all of their long time childhood friends...I imagine it tears at the soul a little bit each time outliving those you love one by one by one... So many funerals. :(

You can be surrounded by people all the time and still be lonely. I think my Nana was a trooper and stayed as positive as she could (with a nice hairdo) but I also know she was sort of tired and lonely too.

The lesson for today being: enjoy your family and friends while you have them.

Can I get a big, fat "amen, sister"? Priest

*passes the plate for money too*

Sometimes I stumble upon things I wrote earlier and think...what the HELL was I thinking/doing when I typed that??? Was I drunk at the time?

I know that feeling, it makes me cringe when I read some of the stuff I said.

I don't think the resident commando cunt queen should regret anything she said. A moment in time is priceless.

Am I brining the Turkey this year? I feel as though I should. It works good but I've learned that 4 hrs is good enough. Are you? Brining? Am I spelling it wrong? Does anyone really care?

Clang will know, or maybe not. Where the hell is that butt munch?

Clang doesn't brine the turkey unless that's a euphemism for jerking off. He's goes to the Golden Coral for Thanksgiving.

I only went to Golden Corral one year because my oldest brother and his wife went on a cruise instead of cooking for Thanksgiving.

We're going to my oldest brother's house this Thanksgiving though. No cooking for me.

And I call jerking off "brining the pickle." Or brining the sour pickle if I don't wash it after.hah

No. I'm given very little to do in the kitchen. Sometimes I chop, dice and peel but usually I'm in charge of setting the table and arranging flowers, pouring drinks, stuff of that nature.

2 years ago,  I used a kit to brine my Turkey,   my family told me that I was never allowed to not brine my Turkey.

I have been to 4 different grocery shops in the last few weeks,  and cannot find a brining kit.  The last store said brining kits are no longer produced.  WTF?

I googled brining spices as a last resort,  and every recipe said to make sure the Turkey is not pre-brined,  before brining, so I looked at the packaging.....

Huh, I guess all the turkeys I bought are pre-brined.  Go figure.
