ISRAEL VS. PALESTINE...AGAIN
In other news, water is wet. This is a diversionary tactic IMO.

They can only have peace if Israel is gone that's why they keep lobbing missiles over and using the concrete that's given to them to rebuild ends up in tunnels to attack Israel .
I think all this started over a Donkey years ago.

Does it have anything to do with Israel taking land from others?

No, I watched a documentary about it a few months ago and they were pals at one point after WWII. The entire thing can be traced to an isolated incident that has nothing to do with today's conflict.

"The Jewish State of Israel"

With Netanyahu's encouragement, Israel's parliament has approved controversial legislation that defines the country as the nation-state of the Jewish people - despite critics warning it will sideline minorities.

The government says the bill, passed in the early morning hours, will merely enshrine into law Israel's existing character.

Prime Minister Netanyahu called its passage a 'historic moment in the history of Zionism and the history of the state of Israel'.

'Israel is the nation state of the Jewish people', he said. 'Lately, there are people who are trying to destabilize this and therefore destabilize the foundations of our existence and our rights,' he added. 'So today we have made a law in stone. This is our country. This is our language. This is our anthem and this is our flag. Long live the state of Israel.'

Opponents of the new bill say it marginalizes the country's Arab minority of around 20 per cent and also downgrades Arabic language from official to 'special' standing.

The new legislation, defined as a 'basic law,' granting it quasi-constitutional status, will likely face a challenge at the Supreme Court.

Ayman Odeh, the head of the Arab Joint List, pulled out a black flag and waved it during his speech, warning of the implications of the law. 'This is an evil law,' he told lawmakers, adding that 'a black flag hovers over it.'

'Today, I will have to tell my children, along with all the children of Palestinian Arab towns ... that the state has declared that it does not want us here,' Odeh said in a statement later. 'It has passed a law of Jewish supremacy and told us that we will always be second-class citizens.'

Benny Begin, son of former Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, the founder of Netanyahu's ruling Likud party, abstained from voting, warning of the party's growing disconnect from human rights. 'This is not a decision I expected from the Likud leadership,' he said.

Israel's Government Remains in Limbo

Benjamin Netanyahu threw in the towel on his stalled bid for a fifth premiership, which has opened up a possible route to power for his rival, the centre-right army-chief-turned-politician Benny Gantz.

Israel has been in political limbo since an April election that saw both Mr Netanyahu’s Likud and rival parties fail to secure enough seats to form a coalition government.  Netanyahu was strongly endorsed by U.S. President Trump.

The country's Joint List of Arab parties, which represents about 20% of the population, performed better than in the past due to what was characterized as Netanyahu's race-baiting anti-Arab campaign.

The JLA  parties threw their support behind Gantz instead (not that they love him, but more as a vote for the lesser of two evils, as I understand it).  The JLA has used its 13 seats to thwart Netanyahu's effort to form a new government.

So........President Reuven Rivlin will this week ask Mr Gantz to try to find 61 members of the 120-seat Knesset to back his own bid for the premiership.

It is possible that with 33 seats for his neophyte Blue and White alliance, and potential anti-Netanyahu allies under his wing, Mr Gantz could conceivably form a minority government, with the support of the Joint List of Arab parties.

However, if he fails to do so within 28 days (which he probably will), the country will be headed for an unprecedented third election within a year unless Netanyahu and Gantz agree to work together.

Color me dumb, I know a couple of you would like this opportunity, but why does the United States get to call the shots where Israel & Palestine are concerned? Shouldn't they be working out how to live & let live between themselves? I'm not exactly a fan of Israel, I often think they are as bad as those they accuse of being terrorists, but that's beside the point. They are in the news today so they are on my mind.

Because they can't do it themselves and we give both of them shit tons of money.

Hamas has control of the majority of Palestine and will only make a deal if Israel is pushed into the ocean, they do not want peace, but it's still worth the attempt.

If they didn't have Israel as an enemy civil war would break out, the same for the Israelis. They NEED a common enemy.

That's true! I would never believe that but after talking to a few Egyptians and some Iraq contractors its all about bartering and force. They get in your face and try to scare you. It's not American I tell ya.  A different world.

I read someone say that the attacks in Israel today are a US intelligence failure. Do you agree?

The Israeli military force is in many way superior to Americas, don't see why it would be our failure. It's most likely been planned for years though and would have had a different world opinion if Ukraine hadn't happened.

There's a lot of misconceptions in this thread, primarily because the source of info is the US gov't.

The Arab-Israeli war began in 1947, before Israel had been established. A Jewish military intelligence report concluded that the Palestinian exodus was primarily the result of Jewish military and paramilitary operations -- ethnic cleansing, to be precise. That report was brought to light by New Historian Benny Morris, who'd been granted access to Israel's archives. Once Israel realized what had happened the report was reclassified, because the official narrative was that Israel had been attacked as soon it was officially declared to be a state. Israel lied, and it's important to note that the Balfour Declaration states that the Zionists were not to establish a Jewish state, and were not to violate the human rights of non-Jews in Palestine. Both points were ignored. The Balfour Declaration was written into the Versailles Treaty and was the basis for the British Mandate in Palestine. Zionist paramilitary orgs would end up attacking the British, going so far as to bomb the King David Hotel and booby-trapping dead British soldiers.

Bottom lie: the Pals are David, Israel is Goliath. Israel has overwhelming military superiority, and has used white phosphorous and cluster bombs in Gaza, which as far as I know has the highest population density in the world, making it impossible to use such weapons without intending to cause civilian casualties. Hezbollah has crappy rockets that cause negligible damage, and it's highly probable that they receive funding from Israel, just as Hamas had, because that's how Israel rolls.

Out of everything I've read & heard today the one thing that stands out is the surprise I see so many expressing.

I suspect this was staged, and the response will no doubt be severe. Netanyahu is a demonic cunt, and I'd put nothing past him.

No nation is more disruptive to international peace and security, no nation is more devious. The world would be a better place without Israel.
