LE seems to share your opinion and have pretty much ruled out the festival explosions as being connected to the parcel bombings.

^ The 17-year-old fatal victim of Monday's parcel bombings has now been identified as Draylen Mason. Rest in peace.

Draylen was described by police and loved ones as a talented student and bass player accepted into the selective Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin.

His mother was injured in the blast. She's in stable condition today.

The 75-year-old woman injured in the other parcel bomb on Monday is reportedly still in critical condition.

Another parcel bomb went off last night in Austin and seriously injured two men in their 20s. Fortunately, the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Snip:
In a press conference before sunrise Monday morning, interim Police Chief Brian Manley said a tripwire mechanism might have been used in the most recent blast. And the most recent explosion occurred in a different area of the city — southwest Austin instead of East Austin like the three prior bombings.

“It is very possible that this device was activated by someone either handling, kicking or coming in contact with a tripwire that activated the device,” Manley said.

He said the explosive device appeared to be a package left on the side of the road in a residential neighborhood and the men injured were walking or pushing their bikes when it went off.

“That changes things,” he added. “Our safety message to this point has been involving the handling of packages, and telling this community ‘Do not handle packages, do not pick up packages, do not disturb packages.’ We now need to have an extra level of vigilance and pay attention to any suspicious device, whether it be a package, a bag, a backpack, anything that looks out of place.”

Austin police believe the previous attacks were related, leading some in the city to fear they were being targeted by an unknown bomber. Both House and Mason had relatives who were prominent members of the African-American community. Police have also said it’s possible these attacks are hate crimes because all those targeted have been black or Hispanic. Police have not released the race of last night's victims.

It does seem the Austin parcel bomber is sort of a modern day version of the Unibomber.

A conveyor belt at a Fed Ex facility exploded today. Luckily, no one was injured. Authorities are investigating whether it's connected to the other four parcel bombings which have left two dead and several others injured.

It's also been confirmed that the two males who were victims of a trip-wired outdoor bomb in an upscale area on Sunday were white and that authorities have cause to believe that bombing is connected to the others. That may lead them to veer away from the possibility that the bombings were motivated by racial hate.

If all of these bombings are indeed connected, it shows that the perpetrator(s) is changing his/her M.O. and has advanced skill. Authorities have asked the bomber(s) to contact them; playing to the ego, I guess. Sometimes that works with these kinds of sickos. I hope LE can figure out who's behind these explosions quickly.

Shoot.............another parcel bomb was intercepted today at a second Fed Ex facility near Austin.

And, tonight yet another one was detonated in an Austin store, sending one man to the hospital.

Police believe the bombings all tie back to the same perpetrator(s).

Whoever is behind this serial bombing is on a mission. The targets and methods are changing and the frequency has escalated.

There's now a $100,000 reward for tips leading to an arrest.

I think someone has learned that the more random a bomb is the less likelihood a pattern could be determined. It wouldn't take a brain surgeon to do it but maybe a person with a good eye for detail who could find a reason behind it. At any rate it reminds me of the Virginia sniper in a station wagon. I think they are on the right track with surveillance camera's and just bet the perp or perp's would want to see their handy work.

I have a weird feeling that an airport will be targeted next, I don't really have any reason for thinking this though.

Now, it's being reported by the Austin Fire Department that the call came in at 7 p.m. at the Goodwill store and they do not believe it's related to the other bombings. The items inside the package was not a bomb but rather “an incendiary device”.

They are saying that the bomber blew himself up as the police closed in. I don't know why it was reported as a "white" male though, if the guy was black would it have reported as a "black" male? Sometimes i don't get it I guess.

The headline was just changed to not say "white"............fuckers!

Describing perpetrators as "black" or other race happens literally all the time. Are you saying you find it demeaning to be unfairly labelled based entirely on the color of your skin? Because the entire collected black, Latino, Asian and Muslim American population just rolled their eyes in unison.

Damn near knocked the earth off its axis.
Thank god I am oblivious to the opinions of others while caught in the blinding splendor of my own cleverness.

Were you fishing when you speculated, after the first victims were identified, that the bombings were likely gang related? I don’t think you were.

If the first bombing victims had been white, would you have speculated they were gang related? I highly doubt it.

Now that you know the race of the bomber, do you still think the bombings were gang related? I bet you don’t.

Anyway, a lot of media describe the suspects the same way as police reports do: race, age, clothing, vehicle color, etc... And, the mere mention of race always seems to rile up or offend some people.

I’m posting from my phone so I can’t post a pic, but the bomber has been identified as 24-year-old Mark Anthony Conditt. I figured the bomber would be older.

Conditt was not known to authorities and LE is investigating whether he might have had accomplices. His two roommates are said to be cooperating with police.

Local LE is still advising residents to be cautious. They don’t know if Conditt delivered or mailed more bombs — which he made outta common everyday materials/chemicals — before he blew himself up when cornered by police.

I don't know what you're trying to pull Maggot, but he was probably black after he blew himself up if that makes you feel any better.

Thank you Duchess!

I’m on duty at a client’s house this morning and only have my phone.

There’s an image of that same pic you posted of Conditt along side one of him in a blond wig and wearing latex gloves at the Fed Ex on Sunday. If you see that one, could you please post it too?

The Fed Ex surveillance footage was said to be key to LE honing in on the bomber.

I’m relieved this got case got resolved relatively quickly.
