RETURN TO SENDER/ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

I feel the same way about my Dad and his Faux News watching, Trump loving ass.

hah

I was farting up a storm at the BB King Band featuring Tito Jackson concert tonight. Shouldn't have ate the Sweet N' Smoky Steak and Guac wrap at Subway today. Jalapenos and Guajillo sauce.

If my husband farted like this when we first met I would have never married him. He just lets them go without a care in the world. It especially pisses me off in the middle of the night when it's so loud it wakes me up. WTF.

I wish he would have gotten deported.

I think she likes being Miss Crabby Pants. She doesn't want to be fucked with because she mostly hates people and when she gives off her crabby vibe people will steer clear. Win Win!

Good. My friend's sister married a Russian asshole (with alleged KGB connections) so he could get a green card. She's trying to divorce him and start her own business. He's trying to liquidate her assets to prevent that.

The Trump administration claims that hundreds of migrant families have now been reunited, which leaves thousands more which remain separated, without any clearly defined reunification plan.

Hundreds of thousands of people across the United States and Canada gathered to protest Trump's and Sessions' child separation policy this weekend.

It looks highly unlikely that the Trump Administration is going to meet the reunification deadlines set by the Federal court in San Diego. I don't know the status of the request to extend child detention (with parents) to beyond 20 days. The governmental agencies in charge are not providing a lot of information or access to congresspersons or the press.

In the meantime, some elected Democrats are calling for the abolishment of ICE (Immigration & Customs Enforcement). Trump claims that calling for the abolishment of ICE = calling for open borders. That's not true. But, I do agree with Trump that Democrats calling for the agency's abolishment probably benefits Republicans when it comes to elections. I think most of us fall somewhere between the two extremes in our views on immigration.

Just like there are abusive asshole cops who need to be booted, there are abusive asshole ICE agents that should never hold such authority and need to be checked immediately. Police departments and ICE both need reforming, but there is not just cause to abolish either, in my opinion.

I think Dems and activists should also be prepared for some migrant parents who don't want to be reunited with their kids as well. Some of the migrant parents likely know that they have very little chance of getting asylum in the U.S. these days and would rather have their kids placed with relatives or foster families in the U.S. than have them quickly deported back to the violence and/or poverty they fled.

Well Mexico has a new President. Hopefully they don't go the way Argentina went and people want to stay there and use their own welfare and social services. And possibly curb the corruption that's rampant in the government there. Hopefully.

There's a net deficit in Mexican migration to the U.S. and has been for years Maggot; more Mexicans are leaving the U.S. than coming in. I know that's been pointed out to you before.

Over the last several years, immigration spikes are due primarily to unaccompanied teens and parents with children coming to the U.S. to escape Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua. Things aren't getting better in those countries in terms of violence, poverty and corruption. So, U.S. politicians will need to start working more closely with those governments to address the root of the mass migration. I heard Pompeo just started laying the ground work in Central America; I hope that's true and he makes progress.

But, yeah, it would be great if Mexico's new president can help solve some of the country's problems and make it a more stable place to live in the least fortunate regions of Mexico. If so, expect an even bigger net deficit in Mexican migration to the U.S. and more Central American migrants opting to apply for asylum or legal immigration in Mexico.

The new Mexican president is a very weird dude; some similarities to Trump in terms of populist rhetoric, but more to the left. I really hope President AMLO does well for the Mexican people. If he fails and Mexico destabilizes to the point it was over 10 years ago, expect more Mexicans attempting relocation to the U.S. (assuming the U.S. remains more economically stable and safer than Mexico overall).

The game plan for many was to come here, build up a nest egg and go back. That makes complete sense and if I was in that situation it would be would I would do. I'm seriously considering moving to Mexico.

Where have you heard or read this? I know this may be the ideal for some, but I have mostly heard and seen that most are fleeing violence and fleeing for their lives, not to pursue some opportunity.

I do hope the countries can begin to solve the violence issue and crack down on the gangs and issues. That is also ideal.

There were a few Alternative to Detention programs that were working-and our government decided not to continue them and continues to lie about thier success rates.

It's not possible to accurately determine how many are here for opportunity vs. asylum because illegal immigrants aren't very cooperative with any kind of census so the only firm numbers we can gather are on those who get caught and cooperate (obviously a very low number). In addition, the numbers would be skewed anyway, because even if they aren't here for asylum, they will claim they are once they are caught. I can tell you that the majority of the folks who cross in Az aren't seeking asylum. I'd also wager that the majority of folks who cross in Az cross with Coyotes and are held in homes with 50-60 other II's for ransom from their families. This is the main reason I am an advocate for immigration reform. What the coyotes do to these people is cruel inhumane.

This is the first I have heard something like this.

Some of the parents have said that they fled their countries because their children --- typically those of junior high and high school age -- were being targeted by gangs, sometimes at knife or gun point. The gangs threatened to rape/murder the kids and/or their families if the kids didn't relent and begin their criminal initiations.

For some of those parents, I imagine, the longer they can keep their kids away from those serious life real threats in their home countries, the better. They would sacrifice being separated on entry and/or deported without their kids if the kids are safer and have their basic needs met here in the U.S. (especially if the kids are placed with family members who live in the U.S.). ETA: interviews with some such migrant parents: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/22/us/im...ldren.html

Those types of gang-related threats have also motivated thousands of Central American parents to send their teen-aged children to the U.S. unaccompanied over the past several years.

I can see the Trump Administration and the right wing media highlighting cases of parents who choose to remain separated from their kids (rather than have them immediately deported) and claiming that such parents are abusive, negligent, or don't want to take care of their own kids. I think the Dems and migrant advocates/activists should be proactively prepared to effectively counter such claims.

The Trump Administration already does something similar when it comes to adults migrants who enter the U.S. alone; using propaganda and lies to broadly vilify and portray them as violent criminals, drug dealers, stealing jobs from Americans, or looking to milk the U.S. social system.

There are some migrants who look to enter the U.S. for nefarious reasons, of course. But, they are not representative of the migrant population as a whole.

Another legal blow to Trump's immigration orders........

A federal judge in Washington on Monday ordered the U.S. government to immediately release or grant hearings to more than 1,000 asylum seekers who have been jailed for months or years without individualized case reviews, dealing a blow to the Trump administration’s crackdown on migrants.

U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg of Washington said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ignored its own policy stating that asylum applicants who establish a “credible fear” of persecution in their native country must be granted a court hearing within seven days or released.

He granted a preliminary injunction preventing the government from carrying out blanket detentions of asylum seekers at five large U.S. field offices, including those currently held, pending resolution of the lawsuit.

The American Civil Liberties Union and other groups sued in March after finding detention rates at the offices surged to 96 percent in the first eight months after President Trump took office in 2017, up from less than 10 percent in 2013.

The ACLU says the mass imprisonment of people seeking refuge while awaiting immigration court hearings stems from policies promoted by Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions that amount to a deterrent to using the asylum provision. The policy, the ACLU argued, unlawfully denies asylum seekers as a group based on only one of the factors used to assess the danger an individual poses: how long they have been in the United States.

A good example of the immigration propaganda and lies being perpetuated by the Trump Administration for (potential) political gain......

ICE was established after 9 / 11. There are some ICE agents who exploit immigrants, sexually assault them, threaten them with deportation if they report the abuses, etc... Real assholes who shouldn't be on the job. There are real assholes like that in almost any large agency and law enforcement is certainly not exempt.

However, much of what's being protested is simply ICE following the immigration orders of the Trump Administration.

Anyway, some Americans are demanding that ICE be abolished because they claim it has morphed into nothing more than a corrupt deportation task force (I don't personally know how much validity that claim holds).

Recently, a few Democrat elected leaders have publicly stated that they agree ICE either needs to be abolished or re-examined and fixed. The latter is reasonable, in my opinion, and something Senator Kamala Harris supports.

Of course, wanting to see ICE re-examined and possibly restructured does not equate to supporting MS-13 gangs, protecting criminal immigrants, or calling for open borders.

But, that's the false narrative Trump and company keep floating because they think it will drive voters towards Republicans and tighten Trump's core base support.

This is the tweet exchange that went down today. An official White House tweet accused Senator Harris of supporting MS-13 and she pushed back.

I'm so hung up on DHHS taking all those kids (some infants & toddlers), who will never find their way back to their parents. It's unforgivable. They haven't a fuckin' clue where some of those kids are.
