MID-TERM ELECTIONS
(11-09-2018, 08:55 AM)Maggot Wrote: Wherever these votes are coming from should also have republican votes in them. The Broward county officials are a bit underhanded as they are not saying how many votes they have or how they are being transcribed. When they get a ballot that may be a little ripped or have coffee stains on them they transcribe those ballots to a new one then place them in the voting machine. The problem with that is they are supposed to be witnessed by 2 other officials and Broward was caught not doing that before. They are doing all this behind closed doors with no oversight.

Just so you know, Rick Scott sent Florida election experts from the Division of Elections to supervise Snipes office to ensure that all laws were followed in Broward. Scott had zero concerns until Thursday when it began to become clear that he could lose. To be perfectly clear here, Rick Scott's very own administration monitored all this in person.

Actually I'm a registered independent, they ask me who I am voting for when I go to vote and that gives me either a blue chip or a red one then they give me the corresponding ballot. But you can call me Ray or you can call me Jay just don't call me Curly.

That's gotta be fake news!  Mia Love didn't embrace Trump or give him any love, ya know -- so he's already publicly declared her a loser and that's that.  ")

Seriously, Love lost some ground against Democrat Ben McAdams and is now down by nearly 3%.

There are still a couple hundred thousand ballots outstanding though, so she still has a chance.

I find it interesting that 15 House republicans with an NRA rating of A all lost on Tuesday. All 15 were replaced with Democrats with an NRA rating of F. I'm pleasantly surprised, even given the gun climate right now.

Florida has always had problems with unorganized voting administration and delayed vote counts, especially Broward County, for as far back as I can remember.

And, Rick Scott is the person who could have improved the situation; he's been the governor for 7 years.

Anyway, there has been no mention of 'fraud' or 'stealing votes' associated with the delayed midterm vote counts in Republican lawsuits against Florida election officials because there is no evidence it exists.

While Scott, Trump, and Rubio have made those baseless criminal allegations publicly, Florida LE has confirmed there is no evidence of fraud (and they have indeed been monitoring since Nov. 6th, as you noted).

Now that all of the Florida ballots have been tallied and there is .5% or less difference between the number of votes attributed to Republican vs Democratic candidates in the following three Florida races, machine recounts are currently underway per order of Sec of State Detzner and in accordance with state law.

--Senate: GOP Gov. Rick Scott vs incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson (.15% Republican lead now)
--Governor: Republican Ron DeSantis vs. Democrat Andrew Gillum (.41% Republican lead now)
--Agriculture commissioner: Democrat Nikki Fried vs. Republican state Rep. Matt Caldwell (.06% Democrat lead now)

I'm glad to see Florida taking the time to count all of the votes and double-checking.

The only people who don't want the votes all counted are those who fear losing. The end. I was surprised to see Marco start with the conspiracy bullshit. 78

It's good to see that leadership in Arizona isn't having any of the conspiracy bullshit.

The McSally (R ) and Sinema (D) camps quickly reached an agreement in court about timeline for provisional votes which helped to guarantee all verified votes would be counted.

But, not before President Trump falsely claimed by tweet:  "Just out — in Arizona, SIGNATURES DON'T MATCH, Electoral corruption - Call for a new Election? We must protect our Democracy!"

Respectably, Republican governor Doug Ducey immediately rebuked President Trump's dramatics.  He tweeted that every vote in every county counts in Arizona and that Arizona was following the law, counting the votes, preventing any cheating, and heeding the will of the voters.

Sinema is up by over 30,300, with most votes counted.  It seems highly unlikely that McSally has a path to catch up, but we'll probably have the final vote counts and senatorial winner by tomorrow or early Tuesday.

State Legislatures

Democrats made massive gains in statehouses in Tuesday's midterm elections, chipping away at an imbalance that had grown under President Barack Obama's tenure which had given Republicans much more power at the state level.

Though ballots are still being counted in some states,, Democrats have scored a net gain of at least 300 state legislative seats.

The party also claimed seven governors' offices that had been in Republican hands:
--Illinois
--Kansas
--Maine
--Michigan
--Nevada
--New Mexico
--Wisconsin
--It remains to be seen whether Republicans will retain governorships in Florida and Georgia (but I personally think they will once all the votes are counted).

While the Democratic gains in state legislatures got little national attention, they have major implications for 2020's presidential election and for the next decade in Congress.

Most state legislatures draw district lines, an authority Republicans used to cement their House majority for the last eight years.

Also, with such gains, state-level legislation could be easier to pass on issues like marijuana legalization, abortion, voting rights, gun control, and criminal justice reforms.

The flips:
--Democrats flipped both the state Senate and the state House in New Hampshire.
--Democrats flipped the state Senate in Colorado, Connecticut, Maine and New York.
--Democrats filpped the state House in Minnesota (the state Senate is still Republican, making Minnesota the only split state legislature).
--Republicans flipped the Alaskan House of Representatives.

The bottom line:
--Republicans presently control 30 state legislatures and Democrats control 18 — compared to 31 and 14 before the election.
--In 21 states, there are both Republican governors and Republican majority legislatures.
--Democrats have full state control in 14 states.
