I planted different types of tomatoes and peppers because in the past that's what worked the best for me. I bought potted plants that were already established for the tomatoes and peppers and I planted some carrot, beet, and radish seeds, but I don't have high expectations for those.

I have some potted plants too. Blueberries, strawberries and basil. The basil is growing out of control, I'm waiting for an Englishman to climb out of it.

I've never grown herbs I figure I'll wait till I'm to old to plant a regular garden. tomatoes and peppers grow well together and every year I do something different even if it doesn't grow. Last year it was scallions, this year its onions.

Speaking of the devil, I looked out there this morning and a bunch of little sprouts popped up overnight. I don't know what they are though because as I was digging the rows my daughter mixed up all the seeds and just started throwing them anywhere. I think they're the radishes.

The basil I grew was due to needing some for a recipe. The store was out of the packaged basil I usually buy, but they had little potted plants so I bought one and stuck it in a pot outside and it grew like crazy. You can propagate basil and have an endless supply so I'm going to plant more of it in pots outside. Not because I need all that fucking basil, but because it's actually a pretty plant and smells nice out in the back yard.

I'm really surprised you can grow radishes in a Florida summer.

RE: RE: the 2016 trivial drivel thread - sally - 08-28-2016

Maybe they're the beets then. We had carrot, beet and radish seeds and like I said I don't know what she threw where. It's all the same sprout though and I know it's not the carrots because I planted a row of those myself and no action with those yet.

Fresh beets are wonderful. Nom Nom Nom. I don't like eggplant but I can't think of any other veggie I don't like. It's all wonderful straight from the garden or field.

Fresh beets here at the local farmers market are expensive.

Fresh beets are wonderfully awful. Puke Puke Puke.

Fixed that for you. Beets, worse than rhubarb, lima beans, and green beans.

I looked it up and those little seedlings in the second picture are definitely radishes. You can't see in the picture because they're so small, but they've sprouted everywhere. She just tossed them in the air and made a wish they'd grow I guess. I don't know that they'll ever actually produce anything though since they're not evenly spaced. I really hope the beets grow, that's what I wanted to grow the most. I love them roasted with olive oil and salt and pepper.

Maybe when all this remodel shit is done, I'll get one of those pots you can buy for growing multiple herbs. I absolutely hate buying a bunch of basil when I need maybe a tbls for a recipe.

RE: RE: the 2016 trivial drivel thread - Maggot - 08-28-2016

I've never thought of growing beets, we grew them when I was young and my mother would pickle them. They were soooooo good. And my face and shirt always took a beating. (There's a joke in there someplace)

This is what it's done sine my last picture six days ago. Within a month or two I think I might actually get a salad out of this garden minus the lettuce. I read that does best in early spring in florida. The beets, carrots and radishes have all sprouted and the tomato, pepper and cucumber plants are doing better than I expected too.

We bought a new couch over the weekend. It looked a lot smaller in the store. I think I need to throw mud at it or something, because it looks way to nice & clean to be in my dog hair covered living room.

I'm sad. Been sad lately. Can't put my finger on why. I don't like being sad. Sigh...

RE: RE: the 2016 trivial drivel thread - Maggot - 09-07-2016

F.U. has been gone for a while the great gazoo says put your finger on the magic button of zornack and press while rubbing in a circular motion and all your sadness will fade.
