There's a gang of lesbian bikers renting the house across the street from me for bike week. When I went out to check the mail they were outside dressed in their leather, wrangler jeans and boots and I thought they were a bunch of ugly men until I heard them talk hah.

I need a vacation. I know I wont be getting one, but I need it. After a month of packing up my house in town I am almost finished and ready to start moving boxes to storage. Hopefully today will be the last day of packing. I have 4 investors that want to see the house on sunday and they know the house is full of boxes so they will have to see what they can see and guess the rest. I hate getting rushed!

RE: RE: the 2016 trivial drivel thread - Maggot - 03-05-2016

Buying or selling a house is always a rush deal. I want to sell my house and get another and the real estate agents I talked to were so phoney I gave up. I think I will end up buying another and give myself 2 months to spruce up this one before selling it. Then use the money to pay for the new one. I think I owe 20 more months on it, more than I thought.

I may have posted about it up thread but I don't give a shit. My husband gave me 4-5 days notice that an appraiser would be coming to our house (we're refinancing). I didn't know I had it in me but I did manual labor for 4-5 days straight staging this place (9 in the morning to 9+ at night). Plus I brought in window cleaners, a handy man, carpet/tile cleaners and our gardeners.

There is not a hole or chip in this house anywhere. You could almost park two cars in the garage and I used the shop vac in there to get every bit of dirt and cobweb out of there. I refinished our front door. I cleaned and touch up painted every where and got rid of SO much shit my house is almost minimalist--like Sally's.

I didn't tell my husband I was doing this but the morning that the appraiser was coming, I had the gardener come out and take out every ugly looking plant in our front yard, put in a bunch of new plants and spread fresh bark everywhere. The house hasn't looked this good in at least 15 years...and we haven't even remodeled yet!!! Smiley_emoticons_hurra3

That was probably what pissed me off the most...scrubbing under the range hood and oiling all the kitchen cabinets to a nice shine knowing they're all going to be ripped out within a couple months.

Anyway, my husband was hoping for an appraisal of $775k (via Zillow/comps). However, most people in this area have already remodeled their kitchens so I was sure we were going to take a hit for that.

I must have done a good job though because despite the outdated kitchen, the appraiser told my husband on the way out he was thinking $810-$850. 33

I'm kind of hoping the dated kitchen comes up in the report though. Not that there's anything stopping me now but I've been telling my husband that the remodel is obviously going to raise the value of our home so having something in writing to that effect would be handy. Not necessary but handy.

Nice to be back (sorta). Now I get to refocus my attention on the remodel work. Smiley_emoticons_slash

^Wow. Are you available for 2-3 bedroom apartment hunting and helping pack up a house?

RE: RE: the 2016 trivial drivel thread - F.U. - 03-06-2016

Way to go user. Sounds like you did a great job getting it all ship shape. I wish I would have had more time myself, but I don't. There will be buyers starting to view it in 2 hours from now.
The investors/house flippers know that our stuff is all boxed up and in the house and I did manage to get almost everything, with the exception of my drill presses, grinders, tools etc in my shop boxed up and stacked. They will just have to deal wit the fact that they are there. Oh I also forgot to remove my deer mounts from my gun room, as well as my work bench's there. But I really don't think that will matter to a investor that plans on remodeling and flipping it anyway.
I don't live in the fancy smancy million $ house area. I live in a very nice part of town that 99% of the homes are owned. With the few [ 2 ] that are rented out are owned by the college. I have my house priced at 12 of what my neighbors house sold for after it was remodeled. I am hoping for a quick sale so I can be done with this chapter of my life. 20 years in one house is enough.

Amen to that. Wish I had time to help sell my dad's house. We're just going to sell what we can from the house and let the bank foreclose on the POS house. Anybody in the market for some gently used coal stoves?

The town of Embden once again is asking residents to change the name of Katie Crotch Road because it costs several hundred dollars a year to replace the constantly stolen road signs.

The referendum question on whether to change the name to Cadie Road is one of several on Friday’s town ballot. Town Meeting is scheduled for Saturday.

Voters also will consider enacting a recall ordinance and changing the positions of town clerk, treasurer and tax collector to appointive jobs after “problems in neighboring towns” raised concerns about accountability, according to Charles Taylor, chairman of the Board of Selectman.

That Katie is a goddamn whore. I'm going to that meeting and propose they change it to "Lady Crotch Road".

We had that problem in the Fort when people kept stealing the signs for the former Mayor, Harry Baals. They ended up renaming it.

Are you getting your feet massaged as you watch it? Perhaps a towel around your head to sop up the water? In a bathrobe with nothing else on? By yourself?

Oooo man. *shudders* I'm not that blonde and that outfit is offensive to my style sense. Put me in a pair of jeans & a cami and I'm good to go though.
