That's right. Shaggy was great.

Casey Casem did a lot of cartoon voice work.

He was also the voice of another animated green-shirted guy in a gang -- Alexander, the groovy always-shaded promoter/manager for Josie and the Pussycats.

J&theP had a profound influence on me, but Alexander kinda blew it and sold out when he booked them a permanent gig in outer space, IMO.

RE: The Death List - FAHQTOO - 06-15-2014

I never knew about the cartoon voices until a couple of weeks ago.

When I was a DJ for Armed Forces Radio one of the highlights of every week was receiving the 4 LP's that contained that weeks AT40. Sent to us straight from Los Angeles.

We'd play it twice every weekend as it really did represent a taste of home for all of us stationed overseas.

It was a crime to keep the albums after they were used. We had to break them at the end of each week.

Somewhere, Casey is saying:

"And now, on with the countdown..."

That seems sorta sacrilegious in a sense.

That's how I felt, but it was all copyrighted material, and they (Casey Kasem's group) didn't want just anybody airing it.

I understand why it was done but as a music lover it must have been difficult, maybe akin to burning a book I think.

RE: The Death List - crash - 06-16-2014

This week seems to be the week of the ignorant or arrogant. I hate motherfuckers that make me wait. If I'm going to be late or I need to cancel, I go out of my way to let the other party know as early as possible. I would never dream of standing somebody up without notice.

Motherfuckers..

Ima be billing some unworked hours this week..

I would like to know the name of this tardy-to-the-party motherfucker right this minute.

I would like to put him/her on my Mock Death List.

I WOULD LIKE TO DO SO, given your displeasure with the unnamed lagger and his/her murder-justifying rudeness!

However, not even one of the inconsiderate bitches on my original death list has been kind enough to kick the bucket. I'm bound and screwed!

Hi, crash 109... I've marked a lot of checks in the last few days. And, I wouldn't make you wait. That's a lie, I would definitely work you up and make you wait, repeatedly (unless you start talking about starfish or bowling balls or such -- then these boots would be made for walkin', and that's just what they'd do)...

Some twat from Harry Potter died in Death Valley this weekend, but it was a douchebag nobody who thought his mad MMA skillz made him tougher than the place with, you know, "death valley" right in its fucking name. Never ceases to amaze me how many people will deliberately go to places known to be dangerous just to have some sort of thrill if they live.

"Hey, fellas, I got an Idea! Let's all go swimming in Piranha lake! Then we can climb Cold as Fuck mountain, and ski down Hey Stupid Yer Gonna Get Killed slopes!

That made me think of the running of the bulls. Morons. Running down the streets glancing back to see how far away the bull and his big honkin' horns are.

RE: The Death List - Donovan - 07-13-2014

That reminds me, the other day they were mentioning on the news about a guy who wrote a definitive guide on how to survive running with the bulls. Got his ass gored lol.

proof of the universe's sense of humor

...and then there are those who want to work with wild animals and when one of them is maimed or killed shock is expressed. I always wonder what they thought would happen. 78

RE: The Death List - HairOfTheDog - 07-17-2014

One of the best ever guitarists (blues or otherwise), IMO, Johnny Winter died in Zurich yesterday. No cause of death given yet.

He was 70 and was on tour in Europe.

RIP Johnny Winter.

I saw him at the Orpheum years ago. His brother Edgar is no slouch either. He sure left a legacy.

RE: The Death List - Blindgreed1 - 07-17-2014

RIP J-Dub.

Not sure if anyone had him on their list?

RE: The Death List - Duchess - 07-20-2014

I think one more death will be coming shortly. I read about Elaine Stritch's death yesterday.

RE: The Death List - ramseycat - 07-20-2014

My mom loved James Garner.
