RE: ANOTHER PUBLIC SHOOTING - heartbreaker6713 - 10-24-2014

Just read an article that is stating a teacher, a student thought she was a lunch lady, is being hailed a hero. Apparently when she heard the gun shots she came running towards instead of away. As she did so, she came right through a door and directly next to the shooter. At that time she made a movement to his hand/arm as he went to shoot. When he shot somehow due to her actions he shot himself in the neck, ultimately the shot that killed him.

Yes I am close, there is definitely room to be closer but I'm just fine right here. It's been a bit of an emotional day. Friends of mine are just crying because it's so sad. Interestingly enough schools over an hour away went into lockdown as protocol for that school district(s) and by coincidence the school that one of my friends has kids in, the lynnwood school district, didn't have school today so she hugged her kids just that much harder and closer. She was thankful they didn't have school. They for sure would have been on lockdown had they been in school.

I'm mentally and emotionally drained. It's all that's on tv, and many websites. I definitely understand but there is almost no break from it and I just don't feel like watching stuff on the DVr. Hoping to fall asleep soon.

If it all went down the way the student describes, it was a bold and risky move for the presumably unarmed teacher to confront the kid with the gun.

I'm glad the student teacher didn't get killed in the process and that the shooting stopped at six.

Sometimes the news is too much, too fuckin' much. It gets to the point sometimes that I prefer to be oblivious.

RE: ANOTHER PUBLIC SHOOTING - Duchess - 10-25-2014

There's some discrepancy in reports of how the shooter died. It's being reported that he took his own life but it's also being reported that he was struggling with a teacher for the gun and in the midst of that it was pointed towards him when he pulled the trigger shooting himself in the neck.

This is Megan Silberberger, the teacher who is being referred to as a hero, she's the one who struggled with him. She looks like a school kid herself.

^ unbelievable bravery if the report is accurate.

So where was the school officer during all of this, you know, the one with a gun? I assume everything happened in a matter of 1-2 mins, so maybe he was far enough away that he wasn't able to do anything.

RE: ANOTHER PUBLIC SHOOTING - heartbreaker6713 - 10-25-2014

I am not sure the school officer had a gun. I do know the school officer was the one who called in the active shooting and was the first to alert authorities.

I haven't read a single report about a school officer however, that might not mean much given I haven't had a chance to peruse everything out there.

RE: ANOTHER PUBLIC SHOOTING - heartbreaker6713 - 10-25-2014

There was so much out yesterday. That is a good point, the only place I heard about the school officer was during a conference I believe. I know for sure I heard it on tv and I don't believe it was from a newscaster I believe it was from the police press conference. The reason I say this is I distinctly remember him saying that they had practice with swat for this situation and that he police, school and hospital all responded as they should have and according to him the plan was executed and done as plan.

RE: ANOTHER PUBLIC SHOOTING - heartbreaker6713 - 10-25-2014

The police officer during the press conference couldn't say though when was the last time they did their "drill". I'm thinking that's where I heard it.

RE: ANOTHER PUBLIC SHOOTING - HairOfTheDog - 10-25-2014

I haven't seen the three female victims identified yet and don't know whether the one who died is the one who reportedly rejected him. But, the male shooting victims have been identified by The Seattle Times; both are the shooter's cousins.

[Image: 2024866158.jpg][Image: 2024866159.jpg]
Andrew Fryberg (15, left) was shot in the head and Nate Hatch (14, right) was shot in the jaw

Hoping that they pull through. Terrible nightmare for the parents of all the victims. And, for the parents of the male victims, not only are their children's lives on the line, their sibling's child is responsible and he's dead.

The shooter wrote about his angst on Twitter. Tweets published here:
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/10/24/read-suspected-high-school-shooters-revealing-final-social-media-posts/

Based on what's being reported by fellow students and Hatch's grandfather, it doesn't seem that anyone was shot at random. The victims were specifically targeted. Jaylen Fryberg had just recently gone to prom in a group with all of those who were shot, according to Hatch's grandfather.

"Bullying" has been tossed out in a couple of the stories. I haven't heard of anything yet that would equate to bullying. Being rejected and not being able to always get what you want is not "bullying", it's life. But, maybe there's more to the motive than teen romantic rejection.

My God. They look like babies.

RE: ANOTHER PUBLIC SHOOTING - Duchess - 10-25-2014

As far as I can tell, this kid, the shooter, had it made as far as high school life goes. It's not like he was a pathetic little fuck who was homely & had no friends, this was a popular kid, a jock, a prince in the prom court, he had a life. I feel like it's rare that we ever see someone like this lose their shit and slaughter their classmates. I shouldn't even be trying to understand, there is no understanding of this kind of thing.

^ Shaylee Chuckulnaskit, 14, was shot in the head.

Her uncle spoke to KIRO tv -- he doesn't know if she's going to make it or not.

RE: ANOTHER PUBLIC SHOOTING - heartbreaker6713 - 10-26-2014

Someone mentioned that they didn't know if the girl killed at the scene was the one who rebuffed him. According to my friend, who her sisters friend is the mother og the deceased girl, said that it was not the same girl as the one who rebuffed/rejected.
