SCHOOL SHOOTING PLOT THWARTED
It's good to see police working with school administrators and investigating threats thoroughly.
Two male students in Virginia have been arrested for plotting a shooting at their high school, law enforcement officials said Saturday.
The teens were planning to call in a bomb threat at ^ Riverbend High School in Fredericksburg, which they attend, and then shoot at students and staff as they evacuated the building, said Capt. Jeff Pearce of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's office. The students, ages 15 and 17, are being charged with conspiracy to commit murder and are being held without bond at a juvenile detention center, officials said.
Spotsylvania County Sheriff Roger Harris applauded law enforcement officers and school administrators, saying they worked together to successfully thwart the plot.
The sheriff's office declined to name the teens, saying it doesn't identify juvenile suspects unless they are charged with a capital felony. Officials say no one else is thought to have been involved in the conspiracy.
A sheriff's deputy who works as a student resource officer arrested the first teen on Oct. 12 after the teen threatened another student via social media, Pearce said. Through that investigation, officials learned about the larger shooting plot and the link to the other student, who was arrested Friday, according to Pearce.
Pearce said authorities discovered the plot by conducting interviews, reviewing communication between the students and their social media accounts. The teens hadn't set a date for the attack, he added. After searching the teens' homes, authorities said, they found more evidence that allowed them to charge the students with conspiracy to commit murder, Pearce said. He declined to say what kind of evidence was found.

Police say a suicidal teen shot himself in the face near Ferguson, Mo., drawing conflicting reports from witnesses who say cops wounded the man.
The 18-year-old was exchanging gunfire with Normandy police officers Wednesday afternoon when he turned the gun on himself, the St. Louis County Police Department said.
That critical blow to his face followed a brief police chase and an attempt to use a Taser, "which was ineffective," the investigating department said.

One Black Lives Matter group has also voiced outrage over the shooting while accusing cops of "huddling around trying to get their story together."
"Protesters get to Paddington at Bermuda right now. Cops shot somebody, according to witnesses. Ferguson Chief Andre Anderson is here," @NotOneDime2015 tweeted.
The City of Ferguson's Twitter account publicly addressed the shooting as well, stating that the St. Louis County Police Department is investigating the shooting but that, "Despite rumors, Ferguson PD did not shoot a suspect."

I strongly believe anyone who knowing or ignorantly disseminates false information and it causes harm to person or property should be arrested, prosecuted, fined and jailed.
And should be immediately liable for damages.
Any reporter or media outlet that participates in the same type of conduct, should face the same penalties, too.

Police say a man shot and killed 3 people before opening fire on officers Saturday morning.
It began with a shots fired call at around 8:45 a.m. in the 200 block of Prospect Street just east of downtown, police said. Police say one person died at that location.
The exact timeline of events after that has not been confirmed by investigators, but we know that a bicyclist was found shot to death on Prospect Street. Two women were also shot, apparently by the same man, in the area of E. Platte Ave. and El Paso St.
Police later found the suspect near Platte Avenue and Wahsatch Avenue. That is where police said he opened fire on officers. Police shot back, killing him.
Ross Trottier was caught between the suspect and officers, he says he'd be dead right now if he hadn't made a quick decision to lie on the ground. "The cop pulled up and said drop your gun and as soon as I heard that I got on my stomach in the median and they started shooting at each other and the bullets went over me," Trottier said.
Deputies said the suspect had multiple weapons on him. An early investigation shows possibly four Colorado Springs police officers fired at the suspect.

Noah Harpham, 33, was the shooter in this weekend's shooting spree in Colorado City.
Surreal scenario. Harpham posted some odd ramblings about his father and a Church in California. Later, he went for a leisurely stroll downtown in his green jacket -- AR15 rifle in one hand, revolver in the other.
Witnesses say he approached a young man on a bike who pleaded for his life. Harpham shot the victim several times; the victim died face down on the sidewalk, still wearing his backpack.
Witnesses called 911, and Harpham kept strolling along. He came upon two women sitting on the porch of a sober house and shot and killed them both shortly before police arrived at the scene.
Harpham shot out the window of a patrol car and exchanged gun fire with police officers. He was shot dead.
The victims, RIP, have not yet been identified.

Colorado Springs Shooting Victims
Police still don't know the motive behind last weekend's murders, but the shooter had a history of alcohol and substance abuse issues. His mother wrote about him in a book about her own alcoholism and described her son as "introverted and moody."
The killer posted a video shortly before his killing spree. In the video, he expressed anger about the fact that his father in California was part of an ultra Conservative Christian church which the killer felt was cult-like. Weird.
Anyway, today police released the identities of the three fatal victims; they don't believe the killer knew any of them.

^Jennifer Vasquez, 42, had developed an addiction to prescription pills and was working to pull her life together. She was working as a telemarketer while living at the sober house and had completed cosmetology school. She is grieved by her daughters, family, and friends. She was sitting on the porch of the sober house when she was shot to death.

^ Christy Galella, 34, had undergone gastric bypass, lost 280 poinds, and developed an addiction to pain pills. She was living at the sober house to get clean and move forward with her life. She is said to have heard her roommate, Jennifer Vasquez, scream from the porch and was shot to death when she opened the door.

Whoever shot ^ 9-year-old Tyshawn Lee multiple times on his way home from school on Monday is inhuman.
Tyshawn was shot at around 4:30 in the afternoon. He loved basketball; his ball was found near his body. The child was shot several times at close range in an alley in the 8000-block of South Damen Avenue, near his grandmother's house in Chicago's Gresham neighborhood. Tyshawn lived with his mother.
Police believe that Tyshawn may have been targeted in retaliation for his father's alleged gang activity. In an interview Tuesday night with the Tribune, Pierre Stokes denied anyone would have a motive to kill him, but if they did, there was no reason to take it out on his son because he’s out in public in the neighborhood all the time. If anyone wanted to harm him, they could find the opportunity, he said. “I’m not hard to find,” Stokes said.
The reward offered for information leading to an arrest in Tyshawn's murder jumped from $20,000 to $35,000 Wednesday morning.
"This person is not an individual. They're not a human being. When you do what you've done to a 9-year-old, there's a place for you. There is no humanity in that place," Mayor Rahm Emanuel said.
Overnight, Tyshawn's mother slept in the alley where he was shot to death. An ambulance took Karla Lee to a South Side hospital Wednesday morning. "She was calling his name, screaming out, calling for Tyshawn to come to her. After so long, she got up and started walking back this way," said Bertha Lee, Tyshawn's grandmother.
Police are asking the community for help to find the boy's killer.
RIP Tyshawn Lee.

Nine-year-old Tyshawn Lee (pictured above with his mother) was targeted because of his father's gang ties, lured into a South Side alley Monday afternoon and executed, Chicago police officials said Thursday.
Speaking at the edge of the Gresham alley where Tyshawn was shot multiple times, Chicago police Superintendent Garry McCarthy called the slaying "probably the most abhorrent, cowardly, unfathomable crime" he had seen in his 35 years in law enforcement.
Last month, a Killa Ward member was wounded and a teenage woman killed in a retaliatory shooting just days after a Terror Dome member was fatally shot and his mother wounded, according to police. Pierre Stokes, Tyshawn's father, is said to be a member of Killa Ward.
McCarthy said leads are pouring in from the community but investigators don't have the evidence yet to make an arrest.
A person of interest who had surrendered Monday evening with a lawyer was later released from Area South police headquarters after being questioned by detectives. McCarthy said the man refused to give a statement, so investigators had to let him go.
"We're pretty certain that we know exactly how it occurred. We know when it occurred. We're pretty certain that we even know the individuals involved," McCarthy told reporters. "But we need a little bit more to make sure that (an arrest) happens."
The Rev. Michael Pfleger, the activist pastor of St. Sabina Catholic Church in Auburn-Gresham, told reporters that Tyshawn's death was a new low in Chicago violence.
"Now we're going to target family members? We're going to target mothers? We're going to target grandmothers? We're going to target babies?"

So far, Tyshawn's father has refused to cooperate with the investigation and has told the police to focus on finding the killer, not focus on him. He seems like a real piece of shit to me. I hope he has a change of heart/mind and tells police anything he knows. But, I won't be surprised if he seeks gang retaliation instead.

Today Chicago PD arrested 27-year-old Corey Morgan ^ in the murder of 9-year-old Tyshawn Lee.
Police had suspected Morgan since the start. It seems they were able to gather probable cause to arrest him based on tips from the community (that's my impression based on the press conference).
Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said investigators have also connected two other suspects with the incident; an arrest warrant has been issued for Kevin Edwards (police are looking for him). Another man is currently in custody on unrelated charges.
On November 2nd, Tyshawn was lured from a basketball game in the park to the alley where he was shot in the head. Police say it was a gang-related retaliatory hit to get back at Tyshawn's father.

A Planned Parenthood clinic is the scene of an active shooter situation. Four police officers have been wounded and 9 other individuals have been hospitalized.
Colorado Springs PD Lt., Catherine Buckley, told the press that more than four hours into the incident, authorities do not know the identity of the gunman and haven't spoken with him.
But, police know that he took some 'items' into the clinic, which it sounds like she suspects may be explosives and propane tanks.
Buckley said police are trying to evacuate the Planned Parenthood building and she couldn't say the number of casualties.
