Philadelphia School Shooting, Second Arrest - the plot thickens...

Investigators contend that Donte Walker, 18, appears to have provided the gun that was used inside the gymnasium of the Delaware Valley Charter School.
The exchange was apparently made inside the school, police say. The gun was allegedly fired by Raisheem Rochwell, 17, just moments later.
Walker is a 2013 graduate of the school, police said, and did not have to pass through metal detectors because he was considered a 'guest.'
According to investigators, Rochwell feared he was going to be the target of an assault and may have sought out a gun for that reason.
That exchange happened just before the gun was fired, police say. A bullet struck an 18-year-old female student in the arm, passed through and hit a 17-year-old male student in the shoulder.
Both wounded students have since been treated and released from the hospital.
Donte Walker has been charged with Violation of Uniform Firearms Act, Conspiracy and related offenses.

Crime Scene - Widener University, Chester, PA
Police in Chester, Pa., say that the shooting occurred Monday night in the parking lot of the Schwartz Athletic Center on the school's campus in suburban Philadelphia.
Police say he called 911 after the gunman shot him once in the side. Students were been asked to remain inside until 6 a.m.
A spokesman for Crozer Chester Medical Center said that the student is in critical, but stable condition Tuesday morning. Widener says his family has been notified.
Dan Hanson, a spokesman for the university, said Tuesday morning that "all indications are this was not a random act of violence." He would not release further details of the investigation.
Chester police were reviewing surveillance footage and were using K-9 units to track the suspect, who they believe fled into a residential neighborhood adjacent to the athletic complex, on the edge of the campus.
Police told reporters that they found one shell casing on the scene and believe the shooter used a revolver.

Shooting at Purdue University in Indiana today; 1 Dead, 1 in Custody
Gunfire erupted Tuesday on Purdue University's West Lafayette campus, killing one person and prompting a large police response at the campus, officials told Fox News. Authorities said they have a suspect in police custody.
Neither the suspect or the victim were immediately identified, but the suspect's intention was shooting the victim inside the Electrical Engineering Building, police said at an afternoon press conference. There was an all clear issued on the campus.
Police set up a mobile command across from where the reported shooting occurred. However, all other buildings are now clear on the school's campus, WTHR.com reported.
A spokeswoman from the school told Fox News that there is no other threat on campus and tweeted, "The EE building remains closed by police, other campus buildings are now open & the shelter in place order has been lifted."
Details of the shooting remain murky. School officials would only confirm the individual in police custody.
Television footage from the scene shows a fire truck and several law enforcement vehicles around the building. The building is in the middle of campus and across from the administration building housing President Mitch Daniels’ office.
It's being reported that a male was removed from the building with his hands behind his back..

That's as good a guess as any.
Could be a dispute over a girl, or a grade, or something equally mundane.
Whatever motivated Cousins, the family and friends of Andrew Boldt must be reeling and are probably looking for some answers, though even if Cousins starts talking, his reason(s) won't likely make much sense to a rational person.

Some details about the Purdue shooter
Cousins has been described as an excellent student who often socialized with his friends and girlfriend in high school.
But, as a university student mixed in with some of the best and brightest high school grads from across the country, some complaints about his rude, aggressive and never-wrong attitude were made by fellow students who worked with him on group projects.
Cousins, like his victim Andrew Boldt - who is being described as an exceptional and very friendly student at Purdue - was a Teacher's Assistant, for the same professor. The professor is not making any public statements nor talking to the media.
Maybe Cousins was motivated by competitiveness and jealousy? AFAIK, he's still not cooperating with police.

PURDUE MURDER: Andrew Boldt was shot and stabbed - Cody Cousins charged with murder today
The Tippecanoe County prosecutor's office filed the charge against Cody Cousins, 23, shortly before a scheduled initial court hearing.
The court documents say 21-year-old Andrew Boldt of West Bend, Wis., suffered both gunshot and knife wounds when he was fatally attacked shortly before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in Purdue's Electrical Engineering Building.
The charging document says several other people were in the classroom and witnessed the attack, but it doesn't give a possible motive.
Police say when an officer arrived, he spotted Cousins sitting on the ground outside the building with his hands behind his head. The officer said Cousins, who has addresses in Warsaw, Ind., and Centerville, Ohio, had blood on his hands and clothes.
Cousins was arrested without incident.
Officers found a knife and handgun on the ground, along with some spent shell casings. Police said there were bloody footprints on the floor outside the room where the shooting took place.
Police have said Cousins targeted Boldt, but haven't disclosed why or how the two might have known each other. Both Cousins and Boldt were seniors, and police identified Boldt as a teaching assistant. Documents posted on the engineering school's website also listed Cousins as a teaching assistant.
Andrew Boldt's funderal will be held on Tuesday.

Police in Maryland say three people died Saturday in a shooting at a mall in suburban Baltimore, including the presumed gunman.
Howard County police said via Twitter that a shooting had taken place at the Mall in Columbia, a suburb of both Baltimore and Washington.
Authorities received a call to 911 at around 11:15 a.m. to report that shots had been fired. Police responded to the scene and found three people dead, including one person who was found near gun and ammunition. Police said they believed that one of people who was found dead was the shooter.
There is no other information available about the two other people at this time.
The scene was "believed to be secure" police said in a tweet issued at about 12:36 p.m.
The mall is at the center of the town, a suburb of both Baltimore and Washington.

I'm ashamed to admit I'm starting to get numb to these stories, unless there are children involved.
10 years ago all these mass shooters would have been a single bullet to their own brain, or a bottle of pills. Of course they're all mental. Mental people commit suicide. Mental people go out and shoot multiple people. Sane people don't do these kind of things.
I'm not painting everyone with a mental health issue with the same brush...common sense says you know what I'm trying to say.
I feel horrible for the innocent people caught in the crossfire.

It's really sad and maddening that high school and college campuses are more and more becoming murder crime scenes. Just last week, there were three students shot to death on college campuses.
Widner University (suspect still being pursued by LE), Purdue (student/suspect in custody), and, on Friday, South Carolina State (student/suspect now in custody).
STUDENT KILLED AT SC STATE
A 20-year-old South Carolina State University student shot to death outside a dormitory was an engineering technology student who also played on the school's football team, the school said Saturday.
Brandon Robinson was a junior who played football as an outside linebacker and defensive end, the university said in a statement. He attended high school in Orangeburg and appeared in four games last season for SC State, according to the team's online roster.
"Brandon was a fine young man who was paying his way through college. All he wanted to do was play football for the university," Bulldog football Coach Buddy Pough said. "We are at (a) loss for words right now."

Murder victim, Brandon Robinson. RIP.
Robinson was shot to death Friday January 24th outside Hugine Suites after arguing with Justin Bernard Singleton, 19, of Charleston, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said. Singleton was charged with murder and arrested early Saturday at an Orangeburg apartment complex.

Murder Suspect, Justin Singleton.
Singleton "pulled out a gun and fired at Robinson, hitting him in the neck area," according to an arrest warrant filed by a SLED investigator.
Singleton is a full-time, sophomore student at S.C. State majoring in business, university spokeswoman Sonja Bennett-Bellamy said Saturday. He does not participate in any of the school's athletics programs, but his mother manages a university-owned, off-campus student apartment complex, Bennett-Bellamy said.

I know what you mean, FAHQTOO.
There are too many of these stories and too many whack jobs roaming around shooting people. It's gotten to a point where having catch-all threads for school and public shootings makes sense because there would be so many separate threads otherwise. It's crazy.
I'm not quite numb to it, but no longer feel the sense of shock that I once did. Just frustration and sadness. It really is horrible for the victims and their families, in every case. In this one, Benlolo's 2-year-old had his mother taken away from him in an instant.
These are the victims of the Baltimore mall shooting. They worked together at a skateboard shop in the mall where she was the assistant manager.

Baltimore police have now identified 19-year-old Darius Marcus Aguilar as the killer. He shot both victims to death and had crude explosives with him as well. Aguilar reportedly jumped out of the store's dressing room and fired at the workers, injuring 5 others in the process before killing himself.
There's been speculation by media and the public that this was a domestic dispute taken into the public realm by an ex of Benlolo. But, police claim they haven't determined if there was any connection at all between Aguilar and/or Johnson and Benlolo.

Darion Aguilar, 19 - murderer
Police have Aguilar's journal where he wrote about realizing that he was not right in the head and needed help.
Still, he legally purchased a shotgun a month beforehand and seemed like the most normal of customers to the gun shop owners, who don't bother even processing the shady types. There is no way the gun shop owners could have known this guy was a ticking time bomb.
It doesn't appear, at the this point, that Aguilar had a relationship with either victim, but he is said to have been a skateboarder who sometimes hung out around the mall and is believed to have shopped at the Zumiez Skateboard Gear Shop in the past.
On the day of the murders, his mom reported Aguilar missing 5 hours after he failed to show up at work at Dunkin' Donuts. Police found his journal and were concerned enough to be actively looking for him.
When the call came from the mall, they put two and two together pretty quickly. Aguilar had been wandering around the mall for hours with the broken down shotgun in his backpack. Finally, he went into the Zumiez dressing room, reassembled it, and then shot and killed the two store employees.
Aside from Johnson and Benlolo, another mall patron was shot (in the foot) and wounded before Aguilar blew his brains out.

Hearing Underway:
The defense requested a 60-day hold on releasing police reports, witness statements and other evidence in the Grove 16 movie theater shooting case to the public.
Circuit Judge Pat Siracusa agreed to allow the defense 30 days to review evidence before it's released, but the surveillance video from that day is not covered by the delay order.
Judge Siracusa said that the public has the right to know what's going on in the courtroom; his statement in court today:
"The legitimacy of our court system and the strength of our democracy is fostered when the public has broad access to court proceedings," said Siracusa. "[By] withholding this video from the public, you would only fuel speculation about what is on it."

So, the video will become available to the public.
Nicole Oulson, the victim's wife who witnessed the shooting death of her husband, was asked by the judge how she felt about the video being released. She indicated that she trusts the prosecutors' decisions.
The defense is expected to call several character witnesses to the stand today to testify in favor of Reeves being released on bond.
The prosecutors intend to call several eyewitnesses to the shooting in hopes of keeping Reeves locked up.
Whether Reeves will remain in jail or be released on bond pending trial should be decided later today.

REEVES STANDS BY SELF-DEFENSE CLAIM
Long day in court; the hearing is to be continued on Friday when the judge will decide whether to release Reeves on bond.
Family members and friends testified about his good character today and how he never loses his temper.
Prosecutors called witnesses from the movie theater who testified that Oulson in no way physically provoked Reeves.
When court reconvenes on Friday, the surveillance video is expected to be played. Three more witnesses for the state are also expected to testify. Nicole Oulson is also expected to read a victim impact statement.
Reeves' attorneys have said they plan to argue self-defense, claiming their client was hit with popcorn and an "unknown dark object." They say Chad Oulson committed battery on Reeves, who is entitled to special legal protection because of his age.

REEVES WAS DENIED BOND ON FRIDAY; he'll be held in jail until his trial.
Investigators testified at the bond hearing yesterday that they watched the video 30 or 40 times and there is no dark object captured. There's something shiny that you can see, but it's not clear what was captured there.
The tape ^ was played in court and Reeves' statement to police was also played. The two don't match. Reeves lied when he told officers right after his arrest that Oulson went to punch him and that Ouslon lunged at him and got almost on top of him.
Both Reeves' wife and Oulson's wife's account were heard on Friday - they are consistent in that Oulson did NOT threaten, punch or attack Reeves before Reeves shot Oulson to death.
Victim's Wife's Account (Nicole Oulson):
"He (Reeves) was just nasty," she said. The man left for a minute and came back. By then, she said, Chad Oulson's phone was off. "We thought that was end of it," she said.
But the man taunted Oulson, she said. "He said, 'Now you put it away, are you scared?' " she said. " 'Oh so now you put the phone away.' And my husband turned around and stood up and said, 'Dude, what is your problem?' "
At this point, Mrs. Oulson said she put her hand up to her husband's chest in an effort to say it wasn't worth a fight. She said her husband never hit Reeves.
Suspect's Wife's Account (Vivian Reeves):
In a recorded interview, Vivian said Oulson "stood up and turned around and was just right there leaning over. It looked like his whole body came forward."
She said she didn't hear Oulson threaten her husband or see her husband's gun. The whole thing "happened so fast" and she said she saw no sign of Reeves having been injured.
She said her husband, a law enforcement officer for more than 20 years, had never shot anyone. "He's never threatened anybody with a gun or nothing," she said. "I just couldn't believe it."
Witness Account:
An off-duty officer who took control of the situation in the theater after the shooting testified that Vivian scolded her husband right after the shot and told him there was no cause to shoot the man; Curtis Reeves told his wife to "shut the fuck up".
