An Italian man who adopted at least 15 cats over a two-year period is now being accused of cooking and eating them.
The man, identified only as Francesco F., allegedly traveled to various animal shelters in the province of Brianza and adopted black cats with very specific characteristics, according to Lorenzo Croce, the president of the Italian Association for the Defense of Animals and the Environment.
"They had to be around three years old, and quite plump," Croce said according to TheLocal.It.
After receiving a number of reports from various catteries, officials began to suspect the suspect was involved in some sort of Satanist group, Croce said.
The accused cat killer was allegedly caught red-handed as he was about to kill a cat for dinner, the Independent reported.
Investigators said that when the suspect was confronted, he seemed confused and asked if killing and eating cats was against the law.
Cat consumption is rare but not uncommon in Italy, according to Croce, who estimates Italians eat between 500-600 cats a year. He said his group files about 20-25 complaints a year against people who eat cats, Business-Standard.com reported.
If convicted, Francesco F. faces up to a year behind bars or a fine up to $20,487.

After I read the OP story yesterday, clicked on a link to a "related story" about Meow, the 40 pound cat from the New Mexico shelter who hit the news early last year. I was sad to read another story this morning that Meow died last May; he had a cute face. RIP.

The local story says that Meatball was transferred from home to home before being given to East Valley Animal Care Center in Mesa.
The shelter is keeping him in an office space temporarily because he can't fit in the standard spaces for cats.
He's not available for adoption because the shelter is trying to find a rescue organization that will take hiim; one that helps overweight cats.
I think Meatball is a cute fat cat - he can reportedly walk fine and is very friendly.

Some Cali people moved out here and painted their house. The trim and the details were all these different colors. I thought it was kinda cool and looked out of place but it sure broke up the green of the trees behind it. The only problem was the weather beat the living shit out of the paint because they either forgot to prime it or used crappy paint or something because it started peeling the next year and went into dis-repair, they never painted it again. And I could see why. It must have been a pain in the ass to do the trim in such detail and in the various colors they used. But they were nice as pie.

And, I'm here in psychedelic SF rocking a Cape Code color scheme on the exterior. Very conservative - on the outside. Never can judge a book by its cover.
Light gray walls, white door and trim, grey shingled roof.
My neighbor's house is shocking blue with granite stairs and black trim. They're such a cool couple, but I always think of it as the Beetle Juice house.
They grow, though. So, I've learned to love Beetle Juice, all day and all of the night.

Without shocking, there would only be predictable. Boring.
Haven't had the budget to change the exterior colors since I bought the house.
I do some pretty bright stuff inside, but prefer less bright color on the large outside surfaces. There's a Victorian a few blocks away that's dark muted olive green with eggplant accents and tan trim. I love that scheme; that's what I would do if money was no object.
