RE: NFL 2014 - Duchess - 01-22-2015

It won't be the first time a QB has given that order.

RE: NFL 2014 - Blindgreed1 - 01-22-2015

Colts are saying now that they complained to the NFL about it when they played the Pats back in November too. If in fact they did, the complaint should be documented and could be used to prove a pattern along with Brady's statement that he prefers throwing a deflated ball. Intent to decieve?

RE: NFL 2014 - Duchess - 01-22-2015

I want whoever (or is it whomever?) is in charge of the investigation to get on the ball and investigate, get it over with. Fines and loss of draft picks don't mean jack as far as I'm concerned, they should lose their opportunity to play in the biggest game of all. Punish them with something that matters.

I don't hate the Patriots, I feel indifferent to them and I would say this about any team.

Agreed. A $25,000 fine is just an investment opportunity for any team willing to give their guys an edge over the competition. What kind of a message are you sending to the younger fans of the game?

That's how I view it too and I don't think we are alone in that thought.

RE: NFL 2014 - Cutz - 01-22-2015

You're better off fining the team's salary cap. That, suspending coaches, and losing draft picks are the only penalties coaches care about.

I have a feeling if they were banned from ever coaching in the NFL again it would be a very strong deterrant.

RE: NFL 2014 - Cutz - 01-22-2015

you can't ban a coach for something this minor.

And so it will continue... Until the NFL takes a stance on rule manipulation.

And, if that's the case everyone should cheat, and cheat often, because you can't ban a coach for something so minor.

You can ban a coach for multiple cheating offences. I don't see how you think it's so minor if it helps them win the game.
No...not a butthurt Colts fan here...they would have lost anyways, but cheating is cheating.

...

And everyone does. Be it the Saints Bounty Program, the Cowboys/Redskins Salary Cap Manipulation (and the Bears could have been hit by that too for their deal with Peppers), the Patriots Spygate, the Raiders using Stickum back in the 80s, the Steelers for Tomlin trying to trip a player on the sideline....

Everyone's looking for a competitive advantage. I have no problem with stricter penalties for repeat offenders... take Belichick's first round pick this draft. If you deter coaches from cheating by having a higher disincentive for getting caught, great. You can't ban someone for minor offenses.

Taking a pick from him isn't going to do a damned thing Cutz. And he has been CAUGHT three times now. Ban his ass.

I don't think this is a minor offense. Here in the United States, we worship athletes and have an attitude of "anything goes." Cheating is cheating. We should revere the concept of sportsmanship and "do the right thing" at the hint of cheating (degree of cheating not relevant). The score doesn't justify people saying Patriots would have won anyway (also not relevant). All
competitive sports events should be above reproach and cheating person or team needs to be dealt appropriate punishment immediately. IMO, the entire game should be rescheduled....

RE: NFL 2014 - Duchess - 01-22-2015

Those that consider a "degree" of cheating should be ashamed of themselves. Dramaqueen

RE: NFL 2014 - HairOfTheDog - 01-22-2015

Tom Brady held a press conference today. He says he doesn't believe that he's a cheater.

Brady explained that he picks his balls before the game and he doesn't want anyone to mess with them or rub them or anything after that point.

Ok... then we have a lot of people to ban from the NFL. Too much contact in practice? Sorry Seahawks, Cowboys, and others... your coaches are now banned.

Oh, Eagles fans... grats on your new system with Chip Kelly. Too bad he's banned for gaming field conditions in the Snow Bowl. For shame!

Bucs QB bribed ball boys to scuff up game balls before their Superbowl... that gets the current coach a ban. Rescind their title while you're at it. That's a bribe AND Ball tampering.

The replay doesn't make it to the opposing team's booth as quickly as your home booth? BAN! You build your home stadium so gusts of wind affect other teams more? BAN! Salary Cap manipulation, Bounty Program... BAN BAN! Other team's sideline has water but your sideline has gatorade? BAN.

Why stop there? From now on, instead of penalties for illegal contact / personal fouls / pass interference... let's eject players from the game. If they get ejected from 2 games they're banned. There's no degree to cheating! BAN THEM ALL!

...

Come down off your high horses. These are the unseen, unsung "bending" of rules seen across the NFL. Just usually teams don't get caught. It's cheating, yes, but every club is doing something. They call it "competitive advantage" and "gamesmanship" and the NFL has policies for every offense. The only reason people want to go after the Patriots is because they're perpetually good and have been caught in the past. Would you care if it came out the Raiders were cheating? Or the Bucs? Nobody would care cause they suck ass. Let the poor retards cheat, it's clearly not working. But if I tell you the Seahawks were found to be using cleats 1/16th of an inch beyond regulation... OMG BURN THE FRANCHISE DOWN!

There's degrees to cheating. In the NFL, if you're not cheating, you're not trying.

Hey! I don't care if you condone "degrees" of cheating. That's on you, doesn't have anything to do with me. I don't happen to view it that way, you're either a cheater or you're not, it's one or the other. I'm not going to split hairs with you on "degrees" of it, you're entitled to your opinion.

...and I hardly view it as cheating when Cary Williams tells Coach Kelly if he can't run a certain way on a snow covered field then the other guy can't either. C'mon!
