We've been down that road before and I'm not interested in going there.

You're trying to be provocative and get a reaction. I appreciate that.

I'm probably the most secure person here in regards to how I live my life, what I believe, etc.

I'm only surprised by your level of cheap-shot-ed-ness going after how I raise my kids, which you actually have no idea of how I parent.

hah I got my satisfaction.

Not sure why you'd think you are the most secure person in a room full of very secure people. What have you got going on that's superior to what the others have as far as being of secure mind & soul?

I didn't take a single cheap shot. Do you think because I don't have children that I don't recognize when parents are raising their children to be a mirror image of them?

It seemed like you got ass chapped over something someone said on the internet. I hope you were just kidding.

Time to forget about doing that Michael Sam, and worry about making the St Louis Rams 53-man roster.

Looks looks like Sam agrees with part of your advice and he will in fact be focusing hard on making the Rams' roster.

And, great news, MS -- you can watch him following your advice because Oprah's network OWN is going to televise it all!!! Smiley_emoticons_hurra3

Now, the bad news: guessing that in the process of pursuing his career goals, Sam's gonna continue to have a personal life and some of that will be filmed and televised too (but don't worry -- OWN won't likely have cameras filming the actual "sex" part of his life -- gay porn is probably a little racy for the big O).

I'm not really interested in reality/documentaries that don't include explicit sex scenes, so I'm not gonna watch it (don't even know if I have OWN, actually). But, I wonder how many people will tune in.

RE: NFL 2014 - Duchess - 05-15-2014

I'd consider watching that. Michael has ambition & he wants to play in the NFL. I expect he will work his ass off. If it's going to be heavily edited in order to protect the tender sensibilities of others I will have no interest though.

RE: NFL 2014 - ramseycat - 05-15-2014

You mean the tender sensabities of people like MS?

Exactly. They all need to face their fear, meet it head on, grab & growl. It's quite empowering. *flexes*

I don't know if MS's discomfort witnessing male homosexual affection/sex is due to fear.

Seems he's far from alone in not feeling comfortable with seeing it and he's being honest about how he feels.

I'm not speaking for him, he can answer as to why it's uncomfortable for him, if he wants. But, he doesn't seem to be saying that he thinks it wrong and doesn't want it to exist, just that he doesn't wanna see it.

Does it make you uncomfortable to see two women making out too, MS, or just the guys?

RE: NFL 2014 - Midwest Spy - 05-15-2014

I have no problem accepting gay people whatsoever.

My biggest beef with the Michael Sam incident is this:

He makes a point of letting everyone know before the draft that he's gay. That's good for him in that he won't have to live "in the closet" and good for the team in that they know upfront prior to selecting him about this.

Seems to me there was very little uproar after he made the announcement. No one bashed him on Twitter, players didn't come out and say "I'm not playing with any gay guys", etc. most people just kind of 'ho hummed', as they should.

So now it's Draft Day 3. Most people have lost interest in him by this point. "oh yeah, Michael Sam is still on the board, I'd forgotten about him."

When the Rams draft him, instead of being with his family (as 90% of draft picks are) he decides to remind us of who exactly he is. Not Michael Sam, co-defensive SEC Player of the Year, but Michael Sam, gay football player.

Not sure why, but he obviously feels the need to keep that front and center.

So, to me, it's not even the act of kissing so much, it's the need for him to HAVE to remind everybody, when nobody cares.

Holy shit! You're still blaming him for the media being there. THEY went to him, they asked could they cover his draft. Why can't you accept that? They covered him in exactly the same way they have covered so many others and your answer to that is that he should have turned them down. Why? Why others & not him? Huh?

RE: NFL 2014 - HairOfTheDog - 05-15-2014

I agree with some of your post, MS.

But, to me, you do seem to care. It seems to bother you a lot that Sam wants to be both a pro ball player and an openly gay athlete who opens the doors for others to be open about their sexual orientations.

Anyway, you said the display of public affection with his boyfriend made you feel uncomfortable. That's what I was asking you about. Why -- just curious? And, would you feel uncomfortable witnessing two equally attractive women suck face?

I asked some men this very same question and it was unanimous, they all agreed that seeing 2 attractive women locking lips would be hot as fuck and the only thing that would have made it better is if they took it further.

RE: NFL 2014 - Midwest Spy - 05-15-2014

I don't know if I can explain this any better than I have, and at this point I'm past caring.

Hot women kissing would be more tolerable than ugly women kissing, but I'm still hoping its not splashed all over the TV, the same way we don't really need to see anyone making out in a 'news' setting.

In a movie, it'd be a little different, we're expecting it.

As Forrest Gump once said:

"and that's all I have to say about that."

RE: NFL 2014 - HairOfTheDog - 05-15-2014

Okay, I see, MS.

It's not so much the gayness, it's gay men that specifically make you uncomfortable.

And, you're uncomfortable with the unexpected.

I think that's part of what Sam is trying to change -- people feeling discomfort and condemning gay people for openly displaying love/affection for their same-sex partners just like hetero couples do; if he puts it out there and more gay people follow suit, then it will be less unexpected and therefore more comfortable/accepted/tolerated.

It does sound like a fear or control issue for you, based on what you posted, Forrest. I'll leave it at that.

Enough said for me, too.

Tebow caught hell and continued to be "ridiculed" about his openly Christian displays.

I'm wondering if the NCAA or NFL will issue a "Sam Rule"?

You know . . . banning "Ass Fucking" or "Cock Sucking" written on eye-black.

RE: NFL 2014 - Duchess - 05-15-2014

Cock sucking - rolls off my tongue

RE: NFL 2014 - Donovan - 05-15-2014

For a little perspective, the admitted discomfort that people like MS feel, that they attribute to "I just don't want to see it" is nearly identical to the rant that just cost Donald Sterling his NBA team. Replace gay guys with black guys, and you have some ignorant white pricks saying "do what you want in private but never let anybody see you." For that matter, the girl everybody is talking about who got booted from her prom for supposedly being dressed provocatively: does anybody think the reaction in Virginia might have been different if her date wasn't a black dude?
PDA discomfort is a cop out and anybody who's ever seen a beer commercial knows public Sexuality displays are everywhere. Michael Sam got the realization of a lifelong dream and happily kissed his love interest, same as any of us would do. Do I need to go look at it? Not really. Do I feel like I ought to be offended or even care? Not really. But the fact that so many people DO still care is exactly why this kind of stuff has to happen. Tolerance only happens with indifference.

RE: NFL 2014 - Donovan - 05-15-2014

@Tiki nobody busted Tebow for being a devout christian. They busted him for being an inconsistent QB. They also were uncomfortable with ESPN publicly sucking his dick all the time. So it still amounts to uncomfortably gay PDA.

I wasn't familiar with Tebow's Christian displays and the controversy surrounding them, Tiki. Had to do a quick read.

Jesus. Let the man pray and express his religious faith. It does seem weird to me that it caused such an apparent controversy.

He got shit all the time Dono.

Double standard here:

Celebrate homosexuality and tolerance, however be intolerant of someone who celebrates their faith and are trying to encourage more people to do so.
