RE: ATHLETIC ASSHOLES - Blindgreed1 - 08-11-2014

There's been a lot of people condemning Tony Stewart for running a driver over Saturday night at the dirt track race killing him. Watch the video here: http://deadspin.com/reports-tony-stewart-ran-over-opposing-driver-during-1618893708

Warning, it's graphic.

I have a hard time making the call on this one. The kid was being dumb, and at the same time you can hear Tony getting into the gas when he hit the kid. It's hard to say if maybe he was trying to get the tires to bite and miss him or plow him over. Either way it's a tragedy.

I'm not one of them.

I've seen the video a few times at this point. The kid got out of the car, he's dressed in black including his helmet, he's running into traffic, one car had already swerved to avoid him, not to mention the lighting is pretty sucky, it's not a brightly lit track. I think this young man played a role in his own death and I also believe it's nothing more than a horrible accident. Isn't there some kind of rule about staying in your car? If not, there probably should be.

RE: ATHLETIC ASSHOLES - ramseycat - 08-11-2014

I'd hate to think Tony hit the kid on purpose. The authorities don't believe he did. I agree the kid is party responsible for his own death. He was pissed and got out of his car. I would think k common sense would dictate not to ever do that.

From what I heard this morning, there is a rule in NASCAR that you have to stay in your car (unless it's on fire) until the safety crew arrives. But this wasn't a NASCAR sanctioned race. I am also not one to condemn a man for his past bahavior and I really doubt he got behind the wheel with the intention of killing a man.

RE: ATHLETIC ASSHOLES - Duchess - 08-11-2014

I'm surprised more people (commentators) aren't bringing up his anger management stuff. I know he has a temper but I really don't see him running down a kid.

RE: ATHLETIC ASSHOLES - ramseycat - 08-11-2014

I've seen a lot of comments about that on FB. Someone even put up a video of Tony flipping out at someone. But to intentionally hit another driver on the track? IDK. That's way beyond just an anger issue.

Everything I've seen to date seems to be going in the direction of an accident, with the exception of those who are quick to condemn him because he's "a known hot head." They're looking at things like his black fire suit and the lack of lighting at the track.

Partly? Played a role? The kid played chicken with a goddam racecar! Tony didn't swerve over to hit him or anything, he was just going straight and the kid jumped in front of his car. He was pointing directly at Tony and yelling shit. I think Tony saw him, but what's he supposed to do, stop in the middle of the track for someone jumping in front of his car? (Morally I'd say yes, but I brake for birds and squirrels and shit, so..) The kid was a MORON. He practically committed suicide in his anger.

I don't feel bad for him. If a skyscraper construction worker falls to his death, I'd feel bad. If he falls to his death because he took his safety harness off and was doing cartwheels on girders a mile up in the sky... it's simple math. The kid didn't die because of the risks associated with racecar driving. He could have been out on the street and jumped in front of traffic because he was mad at someone.

It's kind of a contradiction for anyone to be bringing up Tonys Hot headedness when this is EXACTLY what the kid was doing by getting out of his car to confront him in the first place. Why is it okay for other drivers to be dicks but not Tony. Tony might be an asshole on the track, but I'll never believe he killed this kid on purpose.

I'm sorry the kid died, but in my opinion, he deserves a Darwin award...

That's about where I'm at on it. I feel sorry for the kids family. I also thought of another angle... Was the kid hoping to make the Sportcenter's top 10 by acting like Stewart to Stewart in a non-sanctioned Saturday night dirt track race?

I'm sure he wanted to be noticed, being young and stupid and all.

Since Tony only lives about 100 miles from me, I hear a lot about his outside life away from racing. He's a down home good ol boy type. If you met him and didn't know who he was, you would never know he's an asshole on the track. I also know of someone that works for his racing team. They say he's the best in the business to work for, and he treats his employees very well.

I feel bad for his family also. Some of them are lashing out, but that's understandable in their grief. Having this play out in the media like it is must be beyond horrible...and if some of them were there to actually see it, damn.

I'll be shocked if he gets charges brought up on him for this.

I've heard that he does a lot for the racing community. I guess he owns a couple of tracks and has 5 or 6 race teams that he finances. All in all it sounds like he's a nice guy.

As a person sure. Game-time mentality is different I'm sure. Brian Dawkins was the nicest guy in the world off the field. I'm not saying Tony ran the dude over on purpose, but he sure wasn't stopping racing in order to make sure the guy got off the track safe.

RE: ATHLETIC ASSHOLES - Blindgreed1 - 08-13-2014

Here's the latest video. It shows Ward hanging off the air wing on Tony's car, at some point he lets go and gets run over by Tony's back wheel. The kid was an idoit.

Michael Vick has herpes.........so does, did, had Robin Williams.

This has been a public service message.

So does David Hasselhof he was a night rider for to long.

RE: ATHLETIC ASSHOLES - Duchess - 08-13-2014

If I were to run out into traffic I fully expect to get hit for fucks sake. He had a fit like a little kid and got himself killed. His family & fans really should find a way to accept that and not play the blame game like his aunt did.

I read some MMA asshole called 'Warhammer' (<-What a fucking wank) beat the shit out of his girlfriend, Christy Mack. Interesting twist is that Mack is a pornstar. There have been plenty of commentators on social media claiming she deserved it because she's a slut. The world is well on it's way..
