Everyone is fine, thanks for asking. One of my brothers and his family live 27 miles from Tampa Bay, I just found out that last night his wife was making lasagna and everyone sat around dining during the storm. Sorta like Sally frying shrimp & fries. I guess those born there view these storms differently than some of us who weren't. One of my other brothers lives in Jax and he and his girlfriend are fine as well.

I'm feeling a lot of relief today.
The thing is, (and those born in hurricane areas such as myself may correct me if i'm wrong), One never really knows what the storm is going to do until it does it. I'm really glad this one fizzled out after skirting Cuba, the keys and Miami. It could have been a lot worse.

Sally, are you okay? You haven't said anything since the storm. Is your business alright? Your FIL?

RE: SHE'S A POWERFUL FORCE -- NATURAL DISASTERS - sally - 09-13-2017

Business is busy. Busy isn't even the word really, everyone in central florida has called us. My FIL is good. I don't know if I ever mentioned it before, but he is a fruitcake. He's 75 and has and 30 year old Filipino wife. My kids grandma is younger than me. They came here for the hurricane and that was very interesting.

How's your brother? I saw parts of Jacksonville are flooded pretty bad.

RE: SHE'S A POWERFUL FORCE -- NATURAL DISASTERS - Duchess - 09-13-2017

He's good. Last I heard he was still in a hotel with his girlfriend.

I never knew until this storm how many homes are made of concrete down there. They don't like like I imagine a concrete home to look like.

Aside from concern for your family's well-being......I was thinking how much it would suck if you finished your biz taxes just before the extension deadline and the hurricane wiped out all of you work. Glad that didn't happen.

I finally finished my 2016 Corp returns this morning, two months later than my goal. And, of course, I got a letter from the IRS questioning my 2015 return this afternoon. Fuck me running. I'm hiring a tax attorney tomorrow to deal with the inquiries, even though I can't really afford it. I can't afford to spend all my time dealing with taxes and the IRS either. Pain in the ass.

Anyway.....really glad the sally household is doing okay. I hope Six and Ski check-in soon too, if they have power. Part of Georgia got hit hard by tropical storm Irma, but I don't know if Ramsey was impacted -- hope not.

I am ok, we didn't get any real damage other than some tree limbs and no power. I spent 3 days filling sand bags, shoveling 8 yards of sand around and fixing 3 generators, then drove 3 hrs middle of the night to get to New Smyrna to check on Mouses place and our friends there, seems everyone around me is getting older and less able other than me. Fixed 2 more generators up there. By Friday I was a zombie. Lost power sat night up there but it came back on Tuesday afternoon. House in Pompano lost power Sunday morning some time, came back on 10p Tuesday. AC was broke but it was getting looked at last night. Mouse and I are staying with other friends next couple days, then back to Pompano.
Something very fucked up happened. Friend of mine for near 20 years needed help with her generator, turns out she left fuel in it after testing it last year, I think the fuel was from the season before that. So I get there Wed afternoon, its hotter than fuck and I am working on this thing on the patio among cat shit and wet cat food on my knees. We put up a cover for some shade and then it rained. 2nd pull on the cord and it broke. I go to HD and go in my own pocket and get the parts go back and get that part working, still won't start and I have 3 hrs in it plus the 35 mile trip each way. I take it back to my shop and spend another 4 hrs working on it the next day. I told her whats up and said I would bring it back, this is Wed late. Thursday more shit to do than time, took a 2 hr nap and at 9:30 me and the room mate tried it some more but no luck. He offered to take it back to her on Friday to save me the trip and I said Cool. We hit the road at 11:30pm and texted her the info on the new arrangements and she fucking starts wigging, trashes me and Mouse on FB and in texts, trashes every friend we have in common in FB and texts and tries to rat me out with Mouse about certain aspects of my life before her. So I have had to call a bunch of people and apologize for my friend dragging them into a bunch of bullshit and have them block her and her number.
WTF is wrong with people? She makes a whole string of bad decisions and blames it on me, WTF?
Oh well, one less to worry about next time something happens

RE: SHE'S A POWERFUL FORCE -- NATURAL DISASTERS - Blindgreed1 - 09-14-2017

People who air their grievances on FB are merely looking to validate their immoral behavior. I have one in my friends list that's getting blocked today for the same shit and oddly enough she's in Fla too. hah

She is a goddamn ingrate. Friends don't treat friends like she treated you & Mouse and you're better off without her.

I've seen first hand people treat a "friend" like that behind their back and it sucks. I knew immediately that person/s couldn't be trusted and acted accordingly. Fuck 'em.

RE: SHE'S A POWERFUL FORCE -- NATURAL DISASTERS - HairOfTheDog - 09-14-2017

Thanks for the update Six. Good to hear you're okay, though you must be exhausted.

As for the bullshit spewed by your so-called friend on Facebook.............really sucks you had to deal with that on top of everything else.

I agree with you, Gunnar and Duchess -- cutting ties with the ingrate is the way to go; she sounds like a shit-stirring drama-hag bitch.

RE: SHE'S A POWERFUL FORCE -- NATURAL DISASTERS - Midwest Spy - 09-14-2017

Six, had you ever had relations with her?

I could be way off base, but it sounds like she's been holding a grudge for years and finally let it out.

Either way, better off without her.

Well you would know if you ever bothered watching the news. They only repeatedly told us that it was the worst hurricane in history and would hit as a category 1 or 5 and bring anywhere from 1 inch to 10 ft. of rain. And it could hit anywhere from the east to west coast all the way up to Alabama. If you want anything more accurate than that you'd have to call Miss Cleo.

I don't think she made it. Wasn't she from St. Martin? It was on 247 at my place. It seems the European models were the most accurate. I haven't been in a hurricane since I was kid. Can't say I missed it.

RE: SHE'S A POWERFUL FORCE -- NATURAL DISASTERS - sally - 09-14-2017

I don't want to deal with this crap one more time. The forecasters don't know their head from their ass and have people evacuating only to find out the hurricane is coming right to where they evacuated to. I'm thinking about getting a vacation home in Colorado, I know it won't go there.

k

Amen. Very lucky!

My villa watcher finally called me this morning to tell me after checking my place, all is well, no damage. Power restored yesterday.

I still have a place to go to!

I see you haven't given up typing the single letter to start your posts.

What the hell are you trying to do?

Florida is pretty much screwed anyway if the ice caps keep melting. As Morrison said... The West is the best. Get here, and we'll do the rest.

He doesn't know, he lost all of his teeth and is wearing a diaper for Christs sake. You could cut him some slack.

I was aware of the diaper but did not know about the teeth.

That really explains everything.
