I watched the first episode of DeSean's reality show, Home Team. I don't know why his handlers thought this would be a good idea. All it does is reinforce the belief that he has a MeMeMe attitude. He comes across as a willful child. He got someone knocked up and is afraid to tell his mother.

Ok I need two things from the NFL savvy of this board.
1) I need a player whose contract is well less than it could be because of off-field issues. I used Greg Hardy as one example, and I want another that isn't Ray Rice or in the NFCE because I always use my own division as an example. Like Randy Moss with the Patriots, but current. Peterson is still making insane money, so he doesn't quite work. Pothead Gordon is still on his rookie deal. Help a brutha out.
2) What are other factors that go into contract negotiation? Talent, off-field issues, injury history, position, scheme fit. Anything I'm forgetting I should include? Thanks.

Not looking good for Brady right now. The whole cell phone thing is tarnishing his legacy. Former and present Patriot players are speaking out against him now. Still, i'm skeptical that the suspension will be upheld.

Meh, there is no proof that Brady lied. The NFL had all the text messages they wanted from Tom Brady, and in fact the NFL was aware Brady was going to destroy his phone. They're just releasing that fact and pointing to it now to deflect away from their shit investigation with its shoddy science and hypothetical assumptions.
There's more proof that the NFL was derelict in its duty to protect the integrity of the game by not properly measuring, maintaining, and safeguarding the game balls.

I saw that Goodell upheld Brady's deflate-gate suspension and maximum punishment for the Patriots; that didn't really surprise me.
But Kraft's apparent total surprise that the punishments were upheld surprises me a little bit. He seems very pissed off at Goodell and says he now regrets supporting the suspension originally because he thinks the league is destroying Brady's reputation/legacy. He says he originally reluctantly agreed to the suspension because he thought it was good for the league and that Brady and the Pats would be exonerated. Now he knows he was wrong to put his faith in the league, he says.
Belicheck looks to be pretty much keeping his mouth shut and basically only saying what's done is done, let's move on.
Anyway, I saw that Brady confirmed today that he will be taking the case to federal court with the help of the NFL Player's Union. He said he did not want his 'unfair discipline' to set a precedent for other players in the league.

That's wrong BG. The NFL had the text messages they needed from Tom Brady. The other sides of his conversations were provided by the people the NFL investigated. Ergo, they had his texts.
Additionally, Brady told them he was not going to turn over his cell phone at the very beginning of the investigation - because he was not required to. At that time he also offered to provide them with a list and phone numbers of all non-personal contacts he had texted during the period they were investigating, so they could contact and get pertinent information from them. The NFL refused that information, and did not want to go through the trouble of investigating those numbers.
You may not like Tom Brady, but there is absolutely zero evidence he did anything wrong, or had people do things that would violate the rules. Read the report - there is speculation only and no hard facts. And the speculation they have made on the inflation PSI's has already been debunked and discredited.

The NFL doesn't have subpoena power. They asked for his phone, he said no. Brett Favre did the exact same thing, they fined him $50K and that was the end of it. Tom Brady? They want his head for some reason.
But no, I don't find it odd he destroyed his phone. I've destroyed phones when I've gotten new ones, lots of people have. Given the hacks and release of personal data from celebrities, can you blame him for wanting to be thorough? I don't. He probably has some sweet ass nudes of Gisele on there!
What I find odd is the NFL refusing information that would have furthered their 'investigation'. I also find it odd that the NFL has both sides of Tom Brady's text conversations with the equipment and coaching staff of the Patriots, and that isn't enough for them. I find it odd that leaks from the NFL have been made strategically to damage Brady and weaken support for him. I find it odd that the NFL is spending so much energy trying to destroy one of their best players in its history over mere speculation and theory.
