Rational people see history for what it is. That flag isn't holding anyone back from living their life nor keeping them from making a success of themselves. A lot of blacks seem to love blaming others for their fucked up existence instead of owning their own bullshit and accepting their lot in life is due to the choices they made not because they are under the thumb of a honky.

Amen!

To me, there is no difference between removing the Battle Flag of the South and the radicalized Muslims, destroying artifacts of ancient civilizations, as these symbols, too, allegedly represented the perversion of Allah and his prophet's teachings.

Yeah . . . I get the fact that flying the flag on State grounds implies, to SOME, wanting to return to the antebellum South and white rule.

However . . . by decree of a legislative body, the flag has been declared an exclusive symbol of racism, slavery and hatred.

My question: Why would any self-respecting descendant of slaves live in a state that flew this symbol?

And those who defend it, like many who disagree with Obama, are branded de facto racists.

Just like a woman wearing a short skirt and a tube top is begging for sex or wants to be raped.

The NAACP has lifted it's 15 yr. boycott of South Carolina after the removal of the flag. Whoopty doo.

RE: THE REBEL FLAG - Maggot - 07-12-2015

Now that right there will piss off some people. The NAACP should boycott more states.

So did NCAA.

I didn't realize that NCAA withheld SC from hosting championships, due to flying the Rebel Battle Flag.

I have no clue what was the focus the NAACP's boycott.

Maybe banning South Carolina from developing a nuclear weapon?

Me either and because I posted that headline I probably should have investigated further and found out exactly what it meant.

They don't need to develop one... they can just find the one that got lost near Tybee Island.

This is what our community is thinking about all this going on with the flags, monuments and Nation Bedford Forrest Day.

CHAPEL HILL, Tenn. – A Democratic state representative says he's created a bill to end Nathan Bedford Forrest Day in Tennessee.

A law required Governor Bill Haslam to recognize the Confederate General and Ku Klux Klan leader Monday even after Haslam called for a bust of Forrest to be removed from the State Capitol.

But in Forrest's childhood hometown of Chapel Hill, lawmakers say people shouldn't expect anything related to Forrest to change.

Forrest's influence can be seen in the town on Nathan and Forrest streets, a marker at the home where he was born, a memorial just a few feet from Chapel Hill's town hall and even the high school that is named after him.

You know, I'm kinda getting on board with this whole removal of anything Confederate.

Without these reminders, the Confederacy NEVER happened and hence, neither did slavery or white supremacy!

What, then, will the blacks claim caused their current situation?

Menthol cigarettes?

And malt liquor.

RE: THE REBEL FLAG - Maggot - 07-14-2015

I don't think the majority of blacks have a problem with the flag. I think its the white majority with power that is trying to justify their guilty conscience for slavery. I do believe that every American has the ability to better themselves if they work at it and only a minority can have the amount of money everyone wishes they had.
I also do not believe the majority of Americans are racists or bigots. Excuses are like assholes everyone has one. So it goes with opinions like this one.

RE: THE REBEL FLAG - Duchess - 07-14-2015

I agree with that asshole. Or opinion. Opinionated asshole?

CHAPEL HILL — Amid the renewed dissension over the Confederate flag, officials who call the birthplace of Lt. Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest home have dodged the bullet of dissenters’ scrutiny — so far.

They hope it stays that way.

“People are keeping up with what is being said on a national scale or the state level, but it hasn’t gotten here yet,” town administrator Mark Graves said. “We are the birthplace, yes, but we can’t help it.”

Still, there are some concerns that outside agitators may once again invade this town of nearly 1,500 and challenge its way of life, its heritage and its history. That fear — fueled by a rumor — prompted nearly 100 residents to attend a city board meeting earlier this week in search of reassurance.

Of the 20 or so people who spoke that night, Graves said all spoke favorably of leaving it as is.

RE: THE REBEL FLAG - Maggot - 07-17-2015

Progressives and liberals will destroy that town. At least stunt it if this idiocracy keeps up. Yeah, I'm calling this a dumb movie.

It bugs the hell out of me that outsiders think they can go into someone else's home and tell them how things should be done. I never like it in any form it comes in. Fuckin' busybodies.

We have a school district in the area called "the Dixie School District".

I'll give you one guess regarding the latest controversy and subject of letters to the editor in OUR local newspaper.

RE: THE REBEL FLAG - BlueTiki - 07-23-2015

Lemme guess . . . they want something sounding more "Mexican"?

Ha! You must have heard I'm a minority now too!

The logic goes something like Dixie=Southern States=Those that fought for Slavery=Racist!! They want something innocuous/boring for a name. The reasoning of those that are calling for the change. Thank God there are probably more people calling them idiots than supporters of the name change. I don't think it will happen.

RE: THE REBEL FLAG - BlueTiki - 07-23-2015

Betcha the "Dixie Chicks" and "Lady Antebellum" are worried, too.

No wait . . . not the Dixie Chicks.

One of them took a swipe at GW . . . and we all know Republicans are racist.

They get a pass.
