My browsing activity has been restricted - sally - 07-02-2015

I was reading a news link on my lap top and a Windows Network Defender page popped up. It says my browsing activity has been restricted because my system has been infected with Propagating Malicious Spyware. When I try to leave the page I get a loud buzzer that sounds like the freaking Emergency Broadcast System.

I called the toll free number for immediate assistance which they advised, but I keep getting Indian people that hang up on me.

Anyone know how I can get that off my laptop or am I stuck either trying to talk to the Indians or taking it to a repair shop?

RE: My browsing activity has been restricted - username - 07-02-2015

Can you shut it down any which way possible? It sounds more like malware itself as opposed to any "defender". Don't click on anything, dummie. If u shut it down, u can restart it in "safe" mode and do some of ur own diagnostics.

RE: My browsing activity has been restricted - username - 07-02-2015

Power it down even if it seemingly won't let u. The "off" button will shut it down eventually.

You should be able to remove it yourself.

Did you already have the toll free number or did it pop up when you got the other message about malware?

Try this link, I've always had success with it. If you have concerns about clicking on it, google malwarebytes.

That's happened to me on the office desktop several times; annoying as hell.

I'm glad nobody answered you sally. The first time it happened to me, someone answered immediately and told me it would cost $199 to solve the problem. I asked a few questions about the organization's affiliation and the nature of the problem and it was obvious that they were total scammers.

Turn off your computer and reboot. It'll go away, but might happen again because it seems to happen to me on certain types of sites/links. Just turn off your computer and reboot every time. I've never had any problems with viruses.

It's a scam. I doubt this link will work but it's NOT actually a Microsoft message.

Get Redtube out of your favorites.

RE: My browsing activity has been restricted - sally - 07-02-2015

After I shut it down and rebooted the page is still there, but I can at least minimize it and browse now. I can't x it out though.

Load up malware bytes and get it cleaned up.

The toll free number popped up with the message. It gives me a choice to leave this page or stay on this page, but when I click on leave this page it doesn't work.

I'll try your link.

If you're running Windows 7, press ctrl alt Dlt and open your task manager. If you're running windows 8, prs the windows key + x and open the task manager. Once you do, start ending processes until the screen goes away. Then run some antivirus stuff.

Six has it right... install malware bytes.

You can keep RedTube. It's not messing up your system. Perv.

RE: My browsing activity has been restricted - blueberryhill - 07-02-2015

Dell talked me into purchasing Iolo System Mechanic for basic care and maintenance of computer.....I extended it, but they terminated service and cheated me out of several months of protection and service.
I finally decided to install Bitdefender.......it had positive reviews.....I am supposed to have Windows Defender, but since I use Firefox browser, it says I have to disable it....anyway, bitdefender tells me my computer is safe after routine scans, etc.
Still having problems with flashplayer.....Keep getting window that says it has crashed, etc......I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling a million times. I unchecked the "enable ......mode...." as instructed but still doesn't work. It works part-time like Clangs. I have Windows 8 (with upgrades they have added).

I use the free Microsoft anti-virus and have never had a problem. Sally is an explorer though and has no fear of going where no man has gone before.

RE: My browsing activity has been restricted - QueenBee - 07-03-2015

Had something similar happen to me several years back. Got it cleared, but as a precaution, I took my PC in for a deep cleaning to get rid of any viruses, malware and cooties it may still have had.

Keep us posted Sal

Did you download the program? Also, for added security AVG is very good. How is your computer now? All better?

RE: My browsing activity has been restricted - sally - 07-03-2015

I downloaded it and the page is gone now. That's the last time I visit Bangboat.com.

My husband saw it scanning and asked where I got that from, I told him someone from here recommended downloading it. He said that's real fucking bright, you may as well throw your laptop in the garbage now lol.

that's where mine is going. It's seven years old and full of viruses and whatnot.
Going to get a Surface Pro 3 or another Dell as soon as I save up some money.

Malwarebytes is a good start for nasty viruses like that one. Some of the worst ones won't even let you look up anti Spyware online. So if you have to, go on a different computer, download Malwarebytes or similar onto a flash drive and install it manually. Avast Free Antivirus is another decent one, and C-Net.com has some excellent reviews, descriptions and reliable links for downloading free Malware blockers.
