Sri Lanka update

--The death toll in Sri Lanka has risen to 290, with over 500 injured.

--Yesterday, Sri Lanka police spotted a suspicious vehicle and a car bomb vent off.

--The government has blamed a little-known local jihadist group, National Thowheed Jamath, for the terrorist attacks and believe the group had international backing.  However, no-one has yet admitted carrying out the bombings. Police have arrested 24 people in a series of raids.

--Sri Lankan authorities were warned about a bomb threat from National Thowheed Jamath a full two weeks before the attacks, cabinet spokesman Rajitha Senaratne said at a press conference.

--Senaratne said that the warnings were not passed on to the Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe, or his cabinet. Mr Wickremesinghe acknowledged that security services had been "aware of information" but had not acted on the information. The intelligence reportedly did not pick up warnings that attacks of this magnitude were being planned.

-- Sri Lanka is about 70% Buddhist, with Hindus, Christians, and Muslims comprising most of the rest of the population.  Sunday's attacks were the deadliest in Sri Lanka since the end of the country's civil war in 2009. Historical inter-ethnic imbalances between majority Sinhalese and minority Tamil populations are alleged to have created the background for the origin of the war.

--The civil war ended with the defeat of the Tamil Tigers  who had fought the government for 26 years for an independent homeland for the minority ethnic Tamils. Between 70,000 and 80,000 people are believed to have died in the conflict.

--The nation has seen some sporadic violence since. In March 2018, a state of emergency was declared after members of the majority Buddhist Sinhala community attacked mosques and Muslim-owned properties.

--The victims of the Easter 2019 bombings were mostly Christians.

You should not refer to the religious victim by their religion UNLESS they are Muslims. That "seems" to be the rule?

I just read about it.

Three children of the billionaire fashion tycoon behind Asos have been killed in the Sri Lanka terrorist attacks.  Anders Holch Povlsen is Denmark’s wealthiest man, according to Forbes.  He's also vested in land holdings in Scotland.

Sadly, I think we'll probably learn that many families are grappling with the loss of multiple family members given the terrorists targeted tourist hotels and churches on a holiday weekend.  :(

Sri Lanka -- ISIS Claims Responsibility

The Islamic State just claimed responsibility for the Sri Lanka Easter bombings, but offered no evidence.

The announcement from ISIS's AMAQ news agency came shortly after Sri Lankan authorities said two domestic Islamist groups, with suspected links to foreign militants, were believed to have been behind the attacks at three churches and four hotels, which wounded about 500 people and thus far claimed the lives of 321 people.

“The initial investigation has revealed that this was in retaliation for the New Zealand mosque attack,” junior minister for defense Ruwan Wijewardene told parliament.

He did not elaborate on why authorities believed there was a link to the killing of 50 people at two mosques in the New Zealand city of Christchurch during Friday prayers on March 15. A lone gunman carried out those attacks.

Tuesday was declared a national day of mourning in Sri Lanka and the funerals of some of the victims were held, as pressure mounted on the government over why effective action had not been taken in response to a warning this month about a possible attack on churches by the little-known National Thawheed Jama’ut group.

Those cowards always seem to go for the soft targets. Bastards.

One of the kids killed was a boy from DC  :(

Not Trump, not white supremacy . . . just another fucknut with a need to act out and feel powerful.

We don't hold the Quran or Muhammad responsible for attacks in the name of Islam.

So why Trump?
I've missed you.  Blowing-kisses
