The clock is ticking.

I'm curious to see how this plays today.

If Avenatti doesn't make good on his very public promise and back up his allegations by end of day, his credibility will be shot to hell (as it should be).

RE: SUPREME COURT: JUSTICE SCALIA DEATH AND SCOTUS CHANGES - HairOfTheDog - 09-26-2018

And................. just as I was typing the above post, Avenatti released the name and photo of his client, along with her legal witness declaration.

Avenatti's client is Julie Swetnick ^.

In an explosive signed statement released by Avenatti, Swetnick said in the 1980s, she witnessed efforts by Kavanaugh and Mark Judge to get teenage girls "inebriated and disoriented so they could then be 'gang raped' in a side room or bedroom by a 'train' of numerous boys."

"I have a firm recollection of seeing boys lined up outside rooms at many of these parties waiting for their 'turn' with a girl inside the room," she said in the statement. "These boys included Mark Judge and Brett Kavanaugh."

Swetnick, a resident of Washington, D.C., said she was a graduate of Gaithersburg High School in Maryland. She had worked for several government agencies, including the U.S. Mint and the State Department, and had held security clearances, she said.

Avenatti and his client are calling for an FBI investigation into Swetnick's allegations so corroborating witness can be professionally interviewed.  He also says his client is fully prepared to testify in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

"Under no circumstances should Brett Kavanaugh be confirmed absent a full and complete investigation," he said.

Avenatti also said he is still waiting for a response from Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, over Swetnick's allegations about Kavanaugh.

Society and humans evolve Mags.  Any document offering principles and guidelines written over 200 years ago must be interpreted according to present day life to be relevant and valuable.

If conservative judges stuck only to the literal words within the document or only interpreted it in terms of their deep religious beliefs, it would be a major problem for the country, in my opinion.

There's already been a huge push of young religious/conservative judges into lower courts over the last 2 years.

If Kavanaugh is confirmed, I hope it won't lead to  several Justices (essentially chosen by powerful religious lobbies) being able to take the country backwards and erode the separation of church &  state because they hold the majority of seats on the Supreme Court.  I hope the same if Kavanaugh is not confirmed and is replaced with an equally conservative but less controversial judge.

The Supreme court interprets the constitution as a literal document. Ammendments and changes to it are left to congress to change as they will according to current needs or not but to change the constitution is not the supreme court to do. They can only use it as a guide. It is not a "living ' document in that aspect. Ammendments may come and go but the supreme court has nothing to do with the change in the law.

RE: SUPREME COURT: JUSTICE SCALIA DEATH AND SCOTUS CHANGES - HairOfTheDog - 09-26-2018

^ Yes, so as I said, the Constitution is indeed a 'living document'. Were it not, there would be no amendments for the Supreme Court to reference or interpret.

RE: SUPREME COURT: JUSTICE SCALIA DEATH AND SCOTUS CHANGES - HairOfTheDog - 09-26-2018

In an affidavit posted on Twitter by Avenatti, Julie Swetnick alleges that in high school, Kavanaugh and his friend Mark Judge were among a group of boys who acted “to cause girls to become inebriated and disoriented so they could then be gang raped in a side room or bedroom by a train of numerous boys.”

She then identified herself as one of these victims, alleging that she believes she was given “Quaaludes or something similar.” She stated that Kavanaugh and Judge were “present” at the time of her alleged attack.  She declared so under penalties of perjury and has identified people whom she told right after the incident.

If they are lying they should all go to prison, but instead they will write a book based on hyperbole and false memories.

RE: SUPREME COURT: JUSTICE SCALIA DEATH AND SCOTUS CHANGES - HairOfTheDog - 09-26-2018

Your resume is expanding, Biggie. You're now a projectionist AND a psychic.

If the women are lying under penalty of perjury, they will be subjected to prosecution.

That's the whole point of having claimed witnesses, accusers, and the accused issue legally-binding statements to the FBI.

Avenatti is one strategic mofo. Since the President and the Senate Judiciary Committee are refusing to ask the FBI for additional background investigation on Kavanaugh, he submitted a legally-binding witness statement himself.

Avanati the biggest carnival barker and ambulance chaser on the circuit today. Yup. Time will tell. I wonder who is preparing his paycheck.

He's a publicity-seeking pitbull alright.

BUT, the 'ambulance chaser' and 'creepy porn lawyer' labels assigned to him by Giuliani and Tucker Carlson don't fit Avenatti in the least.

Avenatti is a rich mofo already and didn't charge Daniels for representing her (though I think he probably used the case to increase his visibility for a political run, and succeeded). I suspect he is representing Ms. Swetnick pro-bono as well.

Anyway, the so-called 'carnival barker / ambulance chaser / creepy porn lawyerr' was called all kinds of names by Michael Cohen too.  Now, Michael Cohen is a convicted felon and awaiting sentencing for crimes that Avenatti alleged he committed months before Cohen pleaded guilty to those crimes.

In addition, Avenatti predicted that Trump would be forced to admit knowledge of the payoffs, which Trump had previously denied.  He was right about that too.  We've heard Trump on tape talking in advance about the payoffs and we've seen Trump's lawyer submit a legal doc admitting knowledge.  Now, the Trump Organization is under investigation for illegal campaign contributions in relation to those payoffs.

Yep, time will tell.  The timeline in this Kavanaugh situation is extremely short.  So, we'll see where this goes very very soon.

RE: SUPREME COURT: JUSTICE SCALIA DEATH AND SCOTUS CHANGES - Rootilda - 09-26-2018

I've managed to block most of the Trump shit show out of my mind to keep my sanity intact but this gang rape story about Kavanaugh is extremely upsetting and I can't express just how much I admire Ms Swetnick for her incredible bravery in coming forward.

The fact that Kavanaugh apologists are still screaming how unfair this all is to him leaves me speechless. Our resident Trumpists here should be ashamed of themselves.

kavanaugh has no business getting a lifetime appointment. Nope. If those morons are successful in seating him, this is not over, not by a long shot.

What the fuck kind of man trots out the wife in order to gain a sliver of credibility. Pfft.

RE: SUPREME COURT: JUSTICE SCALIA DEATH AND SCOTUS CHANGES - Duchess - 09-26-2018

Ooohhh I came into Mock before I went anywhere else when I got home. If I hadn't come here first I never would have said "if they are successful". I'd like to rescind that. kavanaugh is going down by Friday morning. See ya, wouldn't wanna be ya. Hehehe

RE: SUPREME COURT: JUSTICE SCALIA DEATH AND SCOTUS CHANGES - Duchess - 09-26-2018

Do you think I would be okay with it because Bill has done it? I think it's a shit move for a guy to make and when I start to feel sorry for the wife I snap out of it. She is letting herself be used.

RE: SUPREME COURT: JUSTICE SCALIA DEATH AND SCOTUS CHANGES - Duchess - 09-26-2018

This is what I know about kavanaugh -

Thousands of dollars of debt has disappeared. I want to know about that money more than I am interested in despicable high school/college behavior. The only reason I care even a little about that is because it speaks to his character that he would continue to lie about it.

He's accused of sexual assault by more than one woman.

He's already lied under oath.

He's lied about his drinking.

Only 4% of his records have been released. What are they hiding and they are hiding something, no doubt about it.

I didn't have issues with Neil Gorsuch so stop trying to tell me I don't like this guy because of trump or because I'm Liberal or any of the other bs you try to hand me.

RE: SUPREME COURT: JUSTICE SCALIA DEATH AND SCOTUS CHANGES - BigMark - 09-26-2018

When you pay off debt it disappears, should he go in more debt to make you happy?

I’m a Republican/Conservative by nature, and I think Kavanaugh should be rejected.

I remember guys just like him in High School (think Johnny from Karate Kid), and I don’t believe for a minute that he doesn’t still have a TON of juvenile/teenager living inside him.

On the Supreme Court?

Are you kidding me?

It was strange to me that Kavanaugh took the unprecedented step of doing a pre-confirmation hearing interview on FOX news.

He came across as highly coached and unnatural, to me.  He said he "just wants a fair process" 17 times.  He volunteered that he was a virgin long past high school. He avoided the question about welcoming an FBI investigation.  And, he said he was always just studying and going to church and befriending local boys and girls in his high school years (didn't directly cop to partying, only that beer was present at some parties). All of that contradicts his own yearbook statements.

He has since, however, issued a statement acknowledging that he did in fact drink too much sometimes in high school.

Kavanaugh still adamantly denies any sexual misconduct whatsoever and called today's allegations by Julie Swetnick straight outta the "Twilight Zone".   I still don't understand why he and his White House + Senate supporters didn't push for the FBI to quickly and thoroughly look into the initial allegation if they're sure there was no sexual misconduct (which doesn't make him guilty, but the report really could have helped his case if he's not).

Anyway, tomorrow's hearing should be very interesting.  The Republicans have hired a female Republican sex crimes prosecutor from Maricopa, AZ to question Ford and Kavanaugh.  Unfortunately, she's been prevented from having a specific background report and testimony of named witnesses upon which to base her inquiries.

RE: SUPREME COURT: JUSTICE SCALIA DEATH AND SCOTUS CHANGES - Maggot - 09-26-2018

I'm glad they will get to say their peace and present their evidence in all this. I really want to see what they have and not what the media says they have. I want to see and make a judgement in all this not things that might have been or vague memories of possibilities without collaborating witnesses. I say lets get it out.
