Your home owners insurance means shit - sally - 11-17-2016

unless your whole fucking house burns down or blows away. That's why I don't have hurricane insurance, because it's worthless unless your house is leveled. Which the chances of that are very slim.

I'm charging $150.00 to write up hurricane damage estimates now, I'm not writing up hundreds of detailed estimates for people's insurance companies to review and depreciate the value and I wont get the job anyway. Bunch of bullshit. These people have paid thousands upon thousands of dollars and they think they're going to get their roof replaced at full value hah.

The insurance companies and fema are requesting written break downs of how much labor and how much material costs of shingles and tar and cap sheet... no one is going to waste their time writing that shit up for free for thousands of people. They're hoping the home owners just give up.

I just sent in my highway robbery house insurance payment of $1003 ( Smiley_emoticons_skeptisch ) yesterday to Liberty Mutual. They are supposed to reimburse full replacement value cost! They better, but the only real way to find out is after having a disaster. hah

You should probably look over your policy with a magnifying glass and get a written statement because from what I've been seeing is they are depreciating everything, and that's if your deductible even meets it which they determine by sending out an adjuster and then making everyone get detailed estimates with break down costs for labor and material. Good luck with that after a disaster. I've had old ladies calling me up crying over it. I love my job.

I had my own insurance bitch last week.

RE: Your home owners insurance means shit - Maggot - 11-18-2016

I don't like customers seeing labor/material cost I like to generalize it and its usually good. They see 90.00 per hr labor and get all pissy but there's a shit ton of overhead they don't consider. Material is marked up at least 35% and I don't like them seeing my cost. Depending on who the buyer is I sometimes charge 80% markup. They just better not piss me off over the phone.

You must have seen the devastation on the media the last few months showing the monstrous hurricanes, and storms. Causing horrendous floods, damage, and devastation washing away home after home, business after business, all over the country. Thus causing Billions of dollars in damage.
When I called my agent about why my premium was so high, he said all insurance companies are looking at multi Billions of dollars in pay outs to those poor people who lost everything. So "they" are spreading the "pain" of the cost of those billions over "all policy holders".

When I think about it, I'm glad/lucky I was not one of those people who lost everything!

A few years ago I had a hose break behind my sink in the middle of the night and woke up to 6" of water in my cellar. Insurance paid almost 20,000.00 in damages and i got a new kitchen out of it. A year later I switched to another carrier and didn't bat an eye.

I remember that. I think there's some pix in one of the private forums.

*knocks wood* I don't ever want to go through anything like that.

Yeah the asbestos glue that was used years ago to lay the lino was expensive to get rid of. But not for me.

RE: Your home owners insurance means shit - Maggot - 11-18-2016

Insurance...........selling fear since the great flood.

RE: Your home owners insurance means shit - Love Child - 11-18-2016

I almost went to work for an insurance agent once and asked, "Don't you get depressed talking about death and catastrophies all day?" He didn't.
I would.
I didn't take the job.

Yeah one of my older brothers went for a job selling insurance and they asked him to provide a list of friends and family and asked if he was okay with his friends and family disliking him for trying to sell them insurance.

And I have a younger brother who just got a job selling insurance in NC to supplement his tattooing.

RE: Your home owners insurance means shit - Som Yung Ho - 01-07-2017

I made a killing on my house and contents insurance during the Canterbury earthquakes. But I had to fight to the end of the world for it. They even tried to cheat me into signing a bit of paper that said I wave it. Fuckin crunts! Now that I'm not in CHCH and I look around the house and realise that everything I own except my motorbike is worth shit and I can't insure my motorbike I think I won't get contents insurance next round. So I say yes to house insurance, no to contents unless you live in a shit area. But then your premiums are proberly too high anyway.

RE: Your home owners insurance means shit - Duchess - 01-07-2017

I've heard people talk about being hesitant to file a claim because they are afraid their insurance will drop them. What the hell kind of bullshit is that. Whatta racquet.

RE: Your home owners insurance means shit - Maggot - 01-07-2017

They may not drop you but the incident is out there for any other insurance company to see.

Two years ago, we had a water filter pipe line break in our Southern villa, a week before we got down here. We had water damage in our kitchen, and living room.
I called our insurance co, they sent an investigator here and he documented all the damage by taking several dozen pictures. Within two weeks we received a check for "$10,000" dollars. When the renewal date came up 3 months later, not only did they not drop me, to my surprise, they only raised the premium by $40.00!

RE: Your home owners insurance means shit - Som Yung Ho - 01-08-2017

They are not allowed to drop you here. Once you are there customer unless you commit fraud etc they can't get rid of you.
