Romney's made it clear that he supports most of Trump's policies and that he will thus toe the Republican party line when it comes to Senate votes.

He's just planting a flag with his face on it atop the moral high-ground, yet again, in my opinion.

Maybe he wants to be first in line as a 2020 Republican challenger should the party need/support one?  Or, maybe he's sincerely troubled by Trump's demeanor and character and he's trying to get other Republican senators to resist conforming to it, for the good of the party and the country?

In any case, unless your head is extremely sensitive, I don't think you'd need a ton of aspirin just to explain/defend your characterization of Romney as a Democrat, a RINO, and a dope when you supported him so fully in 2012 (though your turnabout isn't much of a mystery to me anyway).

Romney's positions and character don't seem to have changed much, if at all, over the last 7 years, to me. Then again, I thought Paul Ryan was solid and principled back in 2012 and I was definitely proven wrong on that one. I don't know if Ryan was a fraud back then or became one later. Doesn't really matter -- he's dust now.

Washington Post and New York Times used to be bastions of critical and informative news. Now they are a joke. They are so prejudiced against Trump and so transparently so, that they have traded in all their credibility and more. No longer does using them as a source show assertions have been backed.

As to Democrats and Progressives using Mitt as someone to defend....yes and no.

The play is the same. An establishment Republican (one of those same dickheads who shared 90% of the exact same stances if not policies as their Democratic counterparts AND in in an effort to show that they are not the bigotted Nazi loving homophobic sexist party, they apologise for every faux outrage at every faux slight foisted on them by the Democrats) such as Mittens, McCain, Ryan disagrees with Trump not being a Bush, Clint or Obama, every clamour around, "See Trump's own party says..." or "Republican X says..." like this makes ANY point.

But they are Republicans? Why? Because they are in the party?

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - Duchess - 01-04-2019

trump just confirmed he's willing to keep the government shut down for months or even years. Crazy cocksucka.

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - Fry Guy - 01-04-2019

They better give wall money

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - MirahM - 01-05-2019

Fuck that.

Will be shut a while then and Trump can get stuff done through Senate and Executive order. What will the House Republicans get done if Trump vetoes any proposal they make that has no wall money? They only have a two year term in the house to prove their worth and get things done. He can make sure they get nothing achieved whilst he achieves things through the Supreme Court. The Senate and the Executive Orders.

He's not getting his stupid, fuckin' wall. No worries. He's already pushing his people out in front of the cameras and they have pulled back so far they are now reduced to calling it a fence. hah

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - Maggot - 01-05-2019

I don't understand how an additional 14 billion on top of the original foreign aid to central America is fine yet 5 billion is not, Although I know 5 billion would not be enough to maintain a wall it would be a great security measure to protect American citizens, in 2016 the wall was voted for and appropriated by Dems and Pubs alike.

The only reason Trump is having a tough time is well............because he's Trump. And that blocks common sense. I believe there is nothing he could do that they would support they are that far over the edge today.

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - Fry Guy - 01-05-2019

Wall/fence tomato/tomarto.

I think what people were voting for is not the thickness, dimensions, material used but the functionality.

I can see someone like Schumer going "Haha, in your face Trump. You build an effective steel fence not a concrete wall" and it making no difference to Trump supporters or Trump himself.

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - BigMark - 01-05-2019

Build the fence, build the fence!

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - Rootilda - 01-05-2019

I'm sure our soy bean farmers won't mind.

MOSCOW (Reuters) - President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that Russia would supply soy beans and poultry meat to China and that the United States had effectively given up on that market.

Putin was speaking at the Russia Calling annual investment forum.

Sorry? What are you on about now?

The great wall of China, may some day be rivaled by the great wall of Trump! Smiley_emoticons_skeptisch

And Fry Guy says he isn't a troll.

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - Fry Guy - 01-06-2019

Nothing wrong with Rootilda, if you are into swollen herpes-riddled ulcerated lips and sexually depraved geriatrics who are given to transcribing their sexual fantasies on public message boards.

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - MirahM - 01-06-2019

I don't see a difference in writing about sexual fantasy, or saying your husband banged you from behind, or commenting in the Friday boob thread-or my lusting after a chick posts.

Bullshit. He campaigned on his big, beautiful, steel & concrete wall and Mexico was going to pay for it. Jesus Christ.

Another Pentagon official has resigned. On a Saturday night.

Bullshit, Duchess. You missed precisely everything else I said and with good reason.

How is Mexico going to pay for it? Upfront, in installments, in kind, in offsets? By what method? What did he mean when he said that?

Okay that to one side because clearly you do not know and neither of us are going to speculate. We don't know and it is so vague, any savings he makes that is even tangentially related to the wall that comes from any dealing with Mexico, can be said or reasoned to be Mexico paying for the wall.

Which Trump supporter, when he said Concrete wall took him absolutely literally and held him to it being specifically concrete? At this stage it is really really silly for ANYONE to pretend after 3 years that when he is speaking about shit like this that he is speaking literally. His supporters take him SERIOUSLY NOT LITERALLY. Behind the figurative speak and showmanship is a serious message. It is that illegal immigration is a serious issue. It is one that brings human trafficking , theft, rape, influx of criminals and drugs across a very porous border, that he wishes to close. Everyone got that........except for those you took him literally and concentrated on

Bullshit. He campaigned on his big, beautiful, steel & concrete wall and Mexico was going to pay for it. Jesus Christ.

and missed the message entirely.

No one apart from people like that really give a fuck because they got the message. If he holds true to the commitment he made to close the porous border and make the border tighter and more difficult for people to walk across or through, then they do not give a fuck whether it is concrete or stainless steel or granite or Adamantium.

If he builds this wall/Fence and it holds true with his overall commitment, it is a win for him. If Chuck and Nancy let him build this without stopping him they lose, even if they pretend "Haha, he said concrete and it was actually steel".

It will be seen as a win for him.

That is what is going to happen too. He is giving them every chance to make this their hill to die on. "You are never building your wall" and then he will go around them and call the Army engineers to build it. Why do you think he allowed such a big military budget to pass last year? It was factored in then.

He gets the border security with or without Chuck and Nancy's blessing.

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - Duchess - 01-06-2019

It's a made up crisis. I don't give a rat's ass if you and some of the others want to buy into his ridiculous bullshit. trump isn't talking to me, he knows I don't believe but that there are many just like you who do believe.

Cool.

He will get his border wall (whether it is steel or concrete is of absolutely no consequence).
