Trump did not ask for help with his campaign. Never at one time did he. The new President was elected on the basis of him being anti-corruption. He wished to have help in rooting out corruption and on a previous conversation had asked to get in contact with Rudi to get help in anything they may have in respect to the Biden's efforts, when he was just a candidate. What Trump had not discussed was the Crowdstrike matter. Because it has not been bought up he asked for a favour in having him look into it because he had not enough information as Crowdstrike was a Ukrainian form run by Leftist anti-Russian, Hillary donors.
Trump was simply confirming previous commitments and declarations that the President made when he was a candidate and on matters the Ukrainian President reached out to him about first (barring the Crowdstrike addendum).
