B.H. Why are you so angry? FQ2 made a funny because you are always saying how old you are and stuff. I really don't think she was being hateful I chuckled and thought it was witty. I kinda wished she had said it about me so I could reply differently.

Remember........ anger can be unhealthy. Blowing-kisses

Well Betsy Devos is in and we have Harry Reid and Jeanne Shaheen to thank. Those two did a great job!!

I feel bad for kids in public schools. According to everything I've read and heard she is not a friend to them nor to the educators who teach them.

Hopefully she gets rid of teachers who are doing nothing other than putting in their time in order to collect their pension.

My kids are attending a great public school now.

Open enrollment is huge in the Twin Cities metro area, and if a family can't send their kids to a private school, our district is the next best choice. It's frustrating for those of us who live 'in-district' as we see class sizes expanding and in turn knowing individual attention is waning.

Jayne dropped out of kindergarten, she's homeschooling now. She said she doesn't like to sit on the ground for lesson time like a damn dog and doesn't understand why she can't just sit at her desk.

28 Jayne - too cool for school.

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - sally - 02-09-2017

She doesn't have any behavioral problems, but she can be difficult. Like today on the virtual school they talked about presidents. She doesn't know why she has to learn about them because she doesn't like Abraham Lincoln and she hates Donald Trump. I didn't even know she knew who Donald Trump was.

Then with the nouns she kept insisting that a car is a place because you go inside of it. And if it is a thing then why is the grocery store a place. Wouldn't the grocery store be a thing then too. She does that kind of stuff with everything. If I show her a way to subtract that's not good and she knows a better way.

Her ass is going back to school next year.

You're kidding right?

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - sally - 02-09-2017

No I'm not kidding, I let her drop out. But the biggest reason why is because she's obsessed with death to the point that its concerning me. She had a blister on her foot and she thought it was chicken pox and would spread to her brain. Then a little boy in her class told her that her shoes would cause friction on the blister and kill her because it happened to his friend. So then she kept taking her shoes off in school and the teacher said it's because she's stubborn. I said no it's because she's really scared, I know my own kid. She didn't just make up this shoe story all the sudden. So after this went on for weeks I said fuck it and let her stay home since kids legally don't need to attend school until first grade anyway.

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - Midwest Spy - 02-09-2017

Didn't know the legality part of Kindergarten.

Sorry to hear that she seems to know so much at her tender age. I mean, to me, 5-6 years old seems too young to be scared of death and obsessing about it.

Have you researched therapy for her? Something to help her with anxiety? Might be worthwhile.

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - sally - 02-09-2017

I don't recall my other kids questioning me about death. With her it's a daily discussion to the point where she tries to come up with ways to avoid it like living in space in a bubble. When the cat died she said that I could probably bring him back with new blood and a brain. Um yeah, I'm not a mad scientist who is going to bring the cat back to life down in the garage.

Sounds like the plot from King's Pet Sematary.

I don't know what to tell you. I have a niece in Kindergarten this year, so I'm familiar with kids your daughter's age.

If you're sincere, and not trolling, I'd research some sort of therapy. A relaxed environment, so she wouldn't think it's a bad thing. Someone that can get kids to open up and be comfortable.

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - sally - 02-09-2017

I wouldn't troll about my kid.

I donate to St. Jude's sometimes so of course they've been sending me pictures of kids with cancer ever since, so she saw it one day and asked me what's wrong with them. I said they are sick and she asked if they're going to die, I said they might. "Oh so you lied to me, remember when I asked you last time and you told me kids don't die so I don't have to worry about it until I get really old." 22

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - sally - 02-09-2017

Anyway, I only brought it up because I don't have to worry about public school anymore since my other kids are done with it and this one is determined she's never going back.

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - HairOfTheDog - 02-10-2017

President Trump's nationwide travel/immigration ban was officially kept on hold by the 9th District Appeals Court yesterday. That was a big victory for the state of Washington and the plaintiffs, and a big loss for the Trump Administration.

The Washington State Attorney General presented evidence as to how the ban was hurting its colleges, businesses, residents...via discrimination. The state AG's office also presented evidence to back its claim that the EO is really a ban on Muslims in thin disguise; they presented Trump's "ban Muslims" rhetoric during his rallies + Rudy Guiliani's recent interview where he indicated that Trump had charged him with devising a Muslim ban that would hold-up legally and that Rudy told him to switch the criteria to countries-of-danger. The Washington Attorney General's office covered all its bases and went to court extremely prepared.

In contrast......the arguments of the Federal attorneys representing Trump, like the content and roll-out of the Executive Order itself, were not well thought-out and very sloppy, in my opinion.

The federal attorneys for Trump told the 1 Republican-appointed circuit judge and 2 Democrat-appointed judges on the panel that Trump's EO should not be available for review by the courts; essentially that the President has full authority to do as he pleases in regards to immigration. The circuit court shot that premise down in its ruling. The federal attorneys also neglected to present a revised EO with green-card holders and current residents from the 7 countries being exempted from the entry ban -- Trump had agreed verbally to those exemptions, but that obviously should have been formalized and documented.

The court also noted in its decision that the Federal attorneys had failed to show any evidence that anyone from any of the 7 countries had ever committed a terror attack on American soil or that they represent more of a threat to the U.S. today than they did before, and thus failed to prove why immigration needs to be 'paused' so that today's stringent vetting criteria can be made more "extreme."

RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - HairOfTheDog - 02-10-2017

So, immigration from the 7 countries listed is the same as it was under the previous administration.........at least until the Trump administration gets its shit together and decides which of the three legal paths it wishes to pursue next:

(1) revise the EO to include the appropriate exemptions and rationale for the immigration/travel ban, and be prepared to defend it on standing and merit and constitutionality (what should have been done from the get-go, in my opinion);

(2) leave the EO as it is and appeal the ruling en-banc -- meaning 11 judges from the 9th circuit (most liberal in the country) would hear the case and either uphold the lower court's ruling to halt the ban or overturn the lower court and rule that the current EO is back in place;

(3) leave the EO as it is and appeal to Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy who would likely refer the case to the full Supreme Court -- meaning the decision would be made by 4 left-leaning judges and 4 right-leaning judges (or they'd reach a tie, meaning the 9th circuit's decision to halt the ban would remain in place).

This is very interesting to me from a legal perspective. I think President Trump should go with path 1 and should already have been pursuing that path after the EO execution quickly fell apart. However, I suspect Trump won't admit to the mistakes he and his administration made, will continue to wrongly challenge the balance of powers, and will instead choose path 3.

Ummm, Sally? Not so sure about this home schooling thing. A car is a noun.

Somebody referred to laborers up thread. I assume it's a nominee for Secretary of Labor, but I heard Trump nominated an anti-union, anti minimum wage increase candidate.

I like it!

I wake up every day and look forward to hearing what has come out of Trump's mouth or twitter account recently. It's a laugh a day (if you don't give a fuck about anyone else). Smiley_emoticons_smile
