RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - aussiefriend - 02-25-2017 Trump's a scary clown that you have phobias and nightmares about. We just had a high profile children's author come back from the USA and she got treated very badly and roughed up by you people at the airport. Big in the news here. Keep it up and you wont hace any friends left. White house has released an official apology but it's too little too late. Did she look like a terrorist, or just have the general appearance of a bum; someone who would overstay her welcome and leech off of our country? Or did she refuse Don a shot at her crotch? RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - aussiefriend - 02-25-2017 She is a high profile author MWS. I am saying that an international incident was caused. No one here is laughing. RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - sally - 02-25-2017 God damn it! RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - Maggot - 02-25-2017 Anyone have any good fake news yet? Yes, I spoke too soon about the IC connecting (or not) the dots from Russia back to Trump directly. I've actually had some time to watch the news and it's obviously an active investigation. Just PM me where to send the cash, check, or money order and who to make it out to. I made $65 dollars at the casino today so I'm happy to pay you $50. RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - Maggot - 02-25-2017 I'm thinking that "shudders" means excitement Clang. Send them wet. Look you don't need to rough our people up at the airport and unlawfully detain them. If you don't want to be friends and allies anymore, we hear ya. RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - HairOfTheDog - 02-25-2017 As for news (I don't do "fake news").....nothing too surprising. -- President Trump's at war with media who cover unfavorable news about him or news that contradicts his claims (which he calls "fake news"). -- President Trump's mad at the FBI for a couple of reasons. -- President Trump's at odds with some in the Department of Homeland Security now because their draft investigatory report doesn't back his claims that banning immigration from the 7 countries in his Executive Order will reduce terrorist threats in the U.S. The draft report says what most of us already know; no one in the U.S. has been killed by a terrorist from any of those countries and the risk of attacks by refugees and illegal immigrants is so low; lower than dying falling out of bed or being shot to death by a toddler. The report also states that attempting to tie threat level to nation-of-origin isn't effective, over half of the terrorist attacks and would-be terrorist attacks in the U.S. are at the hands of natural born U.S. citizens. -- President Trump's new NSA Adviser, McMaster, does not agree with his boss when it comes to the public use of the label "radical Islamic terrorists". McMaster is in-line with Obama, Clinton, and much of the intelligence community on this one. He told his staff that Islam isn't the problem, it's the perversion of Islam by a small minority and that using that label feeds into the terrorists' goal of making it appear the West hates Muslims. McMaster suggests the derogatory term "Daesh" instead. I don't think Trump will change his lingo, but don't expect to hear McMaster using the label "radical Islamist terrorists." --Two months ahead of the event, President Trump has announced he won't be attending the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner. From what I've seen, the press plans to continue as usual with the event which celebrates the First Amendment, recognizes excellence in journalism over the year, and awards scholarships to future journalist with great potential. That's because the Donald is (will be) too busy working with all his suppliers on getting his infamous WALL built! (It's really hard work ya know!) Beginning to think/feel that the Donald is positively like a fish out of water! I had so hoped he would have changed (act more mature) when he became POTUS! I think he declined because he didn't want to show up to an almost empty room. I'm certain he is aware that media organizations have been publicly dropping out of the event as well as the before & after parties were no longer going to be held. This is the trump version of "you're not breaking up with me, I'm breaking up with YOU". When people first started bowing out in January Samantha Bee decided to hold her own party and has invited all those who refused to party with the prez. Not being rude, but you shouldn't have that expectation when it comes to a 70 year old. What you see is what you get and 40% of America find him very appealing. They love their racist, bigoted fuck of a president. I think you're off base. Remember , it was an election where people were voting AGAINST a candidate more than anything. Dems are still up in arms, and they'll never be able to comprehend how Trump won. I think it's more: Hillary lost. She underestimated middle America and their dissatisfaction with Washington and how their tax dollars are going to entitlements. She didn't appeal to them and her reputation was definitely tarnished down the stretch. Anyone that hates Trump, blame Hillary. She should have won handily and blew it. RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - HairOfTheDog - 02-26-2017 YEMEN RAID INVESTIGATION? The father of a Navy SEAL killed during an anti-terrorism raid in Yemen is demanding an investigation into its planning and criticized the Trump administration for its timing. ^ Chief Petty Officer William "Ryan" Owens was killed in Yemen during a raid against al-Qaida. RIP. Bill Owens told The Miami Herald in a story published Sunday that he refused to meet with President Donald Trump when both came to Dover Air Force Base to receive the casket carrying his son, Chief Special Warfare Officer William "Ryan" Owens. "I want an investigation," said Owens, a retired Fort Lauderdale police detective and veteran. "The government owes my son an investigation." The younger Owens, a 36-year-old married father of three, was the lone U.S. fatality in the Jan. 27 raid on a suspected al-Qaida compound. Approximately 16 civilians and 14 militants died in the raid, which the Pentagon said was aimed at capturing information on potential al-Qaida attacks against the U.S. and its allies. The veteran father told the Herald he refused to meet with the president because the family had requested a private ceremony. "I'm sorry, I don't want to see him," Owens recalled telling the chaplain who informed him that Trump was on his way from Washington. "I told them I don't want to meet the president." (continued) RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - HairOfTheDog - 02-26-2017 He said he was also troubled by the attack Trump leveled at Khizr and Ghazala Kahn, an American Muslim family whose Army officer son died in Iraq in 2004. The couple had criticized him at the Democratic National Convention last summer. He also questioned why the president approved the raid a week after taking office. "I told them I didn't want to make a scene about it, but my conscience wouldn't let me talk to him," Owens told the Herald. "Why at this time did there have to be this stupid mission when it wasn't even barely a week into his administration? Why? For two years prior, there were no boots on the ground in Yemen — everything was missiles and drones — because there was not a target worth one American life. Now, all of a sudden we had to make this grand display?" Full story: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/ct-donald-trump-navy-seal-father-20170226-story.html ------------------------------------------------------ Since there were 7 investigations into the deaths in Benghazi, Trump should support an investigation into these deaths, right? One of his spokespersons said this morning that she thinks he will. We'll see. I feel very bad for Mr. Owens, just like I do for Patricia Smith, mother of Officer Sean Smith who was killed in Benghazi. The Republicans and FOX News put Mrs. Smith, who blames Hillary Clinton personally and is highly emotional, front and center as much as possible to call Hillary Clinton a murderer. I don't know if the Dems will want to do the same with Mr. Owens, but he's much more grounded and articulate in his anger and heartbreak. RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - Midwest Spy - 02-26-2017 HotD, you're so level headed, but I don't get how you can draw parralels here. One is a combat mission with Navy Seals. They're trained to be ready to go at a moments notice and the President is the CINC. Now, do I disagree with the sailors Dad about not wanting to meet Trump? Not at all. That's his right. But, to call for an investigation and try to draw comparisons to Benghazi? Are you serious? RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - HairOfTheDog - 02-26-2017 I'm saying that here again we have the parent of a government/military service person who was killed while working in a very risky locale/operation -- of which the now-deceased service men were quite aware -- calling out the government department head who he feels is responsible for his son's death. And, like with Benghazi, the parent is calling for an investigation, which is reasonable. Those are real parallels, MS. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see if Sarah Huckabee-Sanders was right when she told George Stephanopoulos this morning that she believes her boss, President Trump, will be in favor of the requested investigation. RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - HairOfTheDog - 02-28-2017 In a couple of hours, President Trump will give his first speech to the joint houses of Congress. Should be interesting. This morning on FOX News, Trump gave himself an A for achievement and a C+ for messaging in regards to his first month in office. President Trump is expected to talk about his huge budget request. He wants to increase military spending substantially, even though he's promised reduced taxes, especially for the top 10% and top 1% in terms of wealth. I support reviewing and scrapping regulations that hurt more than help business with no real benefit to the environment or the economy. But, I'm concerned he'll want to basically gut the Environmental Protection Agency. I sure hope not. The U.S. already spends 10x the amount of $$ on military/defense than the next top 10 countries spend combined. We're not underfunded or 'losing' in terms of our military, in my opinion, but I suspect that Trump will insist otherwise again. He's also expected to talk about his immigration ban (the new EO has not been submitted yet; the ban remains on hold) along with his deportation plan. RE: THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY - HairOfTheDog - 02-28-2017 I'm curious to hear what Trump has to say about the Affordable Care Act (ACA/Obamacare) today. No details have been put forth in regards to a replacement plan; Trump just says it's gonna be great. But, there appears to be a lot of tension among Republican lawmakers about whether to simply modify Obama's ACA and brand it as Trump Care, or to instead fully repeal and attempt to replace it. I think the protesters at Town Halls are likely making it even harder for many of those politicians to get behind a full repeal and replace. I was glad to read that President Trump is apparently standing by his commitment not to cut social security or medicare/medicaid. Paul Ryan is a champion of cutting entitlements, but he hasn't challenged Trump about it publicly. I hope Trump wins this one over the establishment Republicans. |
