History in the making... - pyropappy - 01-24-2018

Alabama (of all places) makes historic effort to abolish government intrusion in the lives of citizens! You progressives must be quaking with fear. How can the poor helpless stupid people survive without government.

My God, did hell freeze over? Did I just hear the MSM attack democratic leadership? The shut down was their fault, they caved and it is time to vote them out. I do not recognize this country any more.

They are eliminating marriage licenses; imagine, the chaos that will ensue when people realize they don't need government to run their lives.

Those pesky Mormons please keep them down there.

I don't ever mind helping those who are less fortunate than me. There are caveats of course but in general I WANT to help.

Someone I loved very much used to tell me that God helps those who help themselves. I don't know where that came from just now. Weird.

If they torch the Waffle Houses we’ll know the end is near.

It's about time. I hope the bill becomes law and other states follow suit.

I saw that the bill passed the Alabama Senate, but I don't think it's passed the state House or been signed into law by Governor Ivey yet?

Anyway, I've never believed the government should be licensing personal relationships in the first place.

If the bill passes, couples in Alabama will still have to make it legal via affidavit filed with the court and pay the same amount of money. There would also be no change in how divorce and custody matters are legally handled.

BUT......under the proposed new law.......no official marriage ceremony would be required and it would eliminate the ability of religious court clerks to deny gay couples official marriage documents. That would be a good thing for those of us who support separation of church and state.

That's awesome to read! I thought Pappy was dickin' around. Ahahaha.

No one, and I mean no one, should have the legal right to tell another person they aren't entitled to honor their love with a marriage. Who the hell do they think they are.

It's definitely a true story, though the final chapter is not complete. I'm not sure the bill will make it into law, but I really hope it does.

I'm also not sure why pappy believes Progressives would be upset about it. I imagine they would collectively be very happy to see it passed.

I can imagine Ron Reagan giving the bill a big thumbs-up.

That is easy, Democrats during Reconstruction. They had to stop those newly freed slaves from marring white women, Every one knows ALL white women have jungle fever.
