RE: NBA PLAYOFFS/FINALS 2018 - koko - 05-27-2018

ECF game 7 is actually tonight (sunday) at 8:30 (eastern time)

Gonna be a lil bit of a dick here but damn last time both conference finals went to 7, I wasn't even born. Parents hadn't even met yet lol.

Yeah HotD. Cedi is great for such a youngster. His effort reminds me of my most beloved (yes, still lol) Anderson Varejao. Very different players but he's got that hustle. Similar to Dellavedova in that way too. I'd like to see him get a little more time.

I have so much respect for Klay Thompson. I love the attitude that comes with his play, even on nights where he outscores Steph and KD. He just plays. Somehow stays so humble (at least from what we see on the court, sidelines) I don't know if I've ever seen him get cocky.

RE: NBA PLAYOFFS/FINALS 2018 - Midwest Spy - 05-27-2018

Klay’s dad, Michael Thompson, was a star at the U of Minnesota back in the day. He is from the Caribbean if I’m not mistaken.

Michael was a no-nonsense guy during his playing days in the NBA. Played on good teams, including the Lakers for most of his career.

I think his attitude has rubbed off on his son. Very similar in my opinion.

Klay is more talented overall (his dad was a power forward) and interestingly enough, when my Wolves were dangling Kevin Love a few years ago, it was first rumored we’d get Klay from the Warriors for him.

We ended up making a deal with the Cavs for Andrew Wiggins and have since mortgaged the future by giving him a max deal.

Now, Jimmy Butler has basically said he won’t re-sign with us after this season, and Karl-Anthony Towns is being wooed to leave as well.

We may end up with only Wiggins, with Butler, Towns, Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and Lauri Markkanen all gone.

Nice job, Thibs!!

What a savior!

Thanks for the schedule correction koko. I'm a day off with the holiday.

ECF game 7 tonight (Sunday) in Boston. WCF game 7 tomorrow night (Monday) in Houston.

Dellavedova is fun to watch, for sure. He had a strong finals series a couple of years back and I loved the way the announcer drug out his name every time he made a key play.

RE: NBA PLAYOFFS/FINALS 2018 - HairOfTheDog - 05-27-2018

Klay is a great player and I like his attitude too.

I've seen his dad interviewed a few times; very focused straight shooter. I think Klay's brother plays in the minors or overseas?

Sorry to hear you could be losing some of your top younger players MS. It sucks to invest in them, watch them mature and get their skills honed, and then have to wave goodbye.

RE: NBA PLAYOFFS/FINALS 2018 - HairOfTheDog - 05-28-2018

LeBron James is a force of nature. I don't think that's an exaggeration, he's just truly amazing and so fun to watch.

I was glad to see Jeff Green play well in place of Love tonight. He seemed in another world when he was interviewed after the game. Pretty cool to go from having open heart surgery 5 or 6 years ago, being shuffled across so many teams, and now making it to the championship series with the Cavs ten years into his career.

If the Warriors can beat Houston in Texas tomorrow night, it will be the 4th straight year we'll be up against the Cavaliers for the league championship. If Houston wins, it will be the first time they've made it the championship series in 23 years and I'll be happy for them (but I'll be rooting for the home team tomorrow night).

Looks like it's going to be LeBron and Curry in the finals... Who could have called that one? hah

RE: NBA PLAYOFFS/FINALS 2018 - HairOfTheDog - 05-29-2018

It was an exciting set of ECF and WCF games.

LeBron is just that good and the Warriors are a stellar team with excellent coaching. They earned their spots. But, there are teams in both conferences nipping at their heels.

League Championship Series Schedule, Cavs vs. Warriors:

Game 1 from Oakland: May 31, 9 p.m. ET, ABC
Game 2 from Oakland: June 3, 8 p.m. ET, ABC
Game 3 from Cleveland: June 6, 9 p.m. ET, ABC
Game 4 from Cleveland: June 8, 9 p.m. ET, ABC
Game 5* from Oakland: June 11, 9 p.m. ET, ABC
Game 6* from Cleveland: June 14, 9 p.m. ET, ABC
Game 7* from Oakland: June 17, 8 p.m. ET, ABC
* -- if necessary

Just reflecting a bit about LeBron.

IMO, he has now surpassed Jordan as GOAT.

And, he’s a class act.

He’s outmanned vs GS, and I hope he and his club don’t get embarrassed.

Doesn’t matter to me though if the Cavs don’t win, he is now the best to ever play.

I have to assist a client from 6pm to 10pm tonight. So bummed that I won't be able to watch the game real time. But, I'm still gonna try to watch the video when I get home tonight.

RE: NBA PLAYOFFS/FINALS 2018 - RickVallejo - 05-31-2018

I think the Dubs look exposed for the first time in several years. Which basically means that they lost more than one game.

More than anything I'm seeing some NBA fatigue from both sides though. There's a definite cloud of 'blah' surrounding this entire series. We'll see if game 1 can energize.

RE: NBA PLAYOFFS/FINALS 2018 - RickVallejo - 05-31-2018

@Midwest Spy

I think I agree with you. If he can shoulder this load to the finish line then I think there's going to be some legitimate Michael Jordan ship jumpers.

I’ve been a Jordan guy my entire life.

Completely, unequivocally.

However, watching LBJ the last couple of years, particularly his offensive game, appreciating his basketball IQ, his passing.... its all evolved to the point where I can’t seriously say he’s NOT the best to have ever played.

The fact he’s likeable makes it really easy to reach the conclusion that I have.

RE: NBA PLAYOFFS/FINALS 2018 - HairOfTheDog - 06-01-2018

LeBron is a force of nature, for sure. He did everything possible, and some things previously impossible, that any player could do to earn a game 1 win for his team. The man scored 51 points and there wasn't a Warrior who could guard him. Incredible performance.

I was glad to see Kevin Love come back from his concussion injury. He put up 24 points for the Cavs.

The Warriors played hard and well, but not our absolute best. If it weren't for that major fuck-up by JR Smith, we could easily have lost game 1 in the final seconds of regular play rather than winning in overtime.

I thought Smith must have been confused about the score when he nabbed the free throw rebound and proceeded to dribble up court instead of pushing a tie-breaking game-winning shot with 4.7 seconds on the clock. But, Smith says he knew the score and was waiting for the official to call the time-out LeBron was requesting.

Final Game 1 Score: 134W / 124C.

RE: NBA PLAYOFFS/FINALS 2018 - HairOfTheDog - 06-01-2018

I feel bad for JR Smith after reading some of the commentary. Some people are really eviscerating him. I hope he bounces back and plays well in game 2.

I don't watch B-ball but I sure do recognize the look on some of those faces and the feelings that go along with them. I've seen the same on my own guys in the NFL.

RE: NBA PLAYOFFS/FINALS 2018 - HairOfTheDog - 06-03-2018

The Warriors played great tonight at home.

Iggy is still out with a bruised knee, but Livingston did a good job filling that key spot.

Stephan, Klay and my man Draymond were their usual awesome selves and KD got his groove back tonight.

Game 2 score: 122W/103C
Series Score: 2W/0C.

The series heads to Cleveland for game 3 on Wednesday.

I think LeBron, Love and company will be on fire at home and take game 3. If that happens, I hope JR Smith is a big part of the Cleveland win. Man, he got skewered for his bad sense of timing in the final seconds of game 1 regular play.

it's amazing to me how many people refuse to admit that he's even that close to MJ.

How about these refs though? The day after both games "oh um 'scuse me but...yeah we missed this call, and this other one....oh and uhh that one too"

Sidenote- I don't understand how a felon (convicted of tax evasion and obstruction) can be an NBA ref but a pothead can't work at, like...office max.

Can somebody trim Draymond's claws on the plane? Looking at LeBron and seeing that eye makes my ass clench up...hurts me just to look at it.

Still waiting on Ty Lue's simple ass to substitute effectively. Would like to see Korver in the game more. Would love to see Jose Calderon get in when maybe Clarkson or JR get cold.

It's about to get interesting tonight
