LIVING WITHOUT - Duchess - 08-23-2018

Could you live without bread?

That sounds more dramatic than I would like it to.   78

RE: LIVING WITHOUT - HairOfTheDog - 08-23-2018

I love sandwiches, hamburgers, sour dough clam chowder bowls, etc.

But, I haven't eaten bread, tortillas, or anything like that since January of 2017.

I like the very low carb eating plan I've been following so I can definitely live without edible bread.

And, I could probably live without Bread, except for maybe "Baby Ima Want You".

I couldn't live without spendable bread / dough though.

Sure. Waffles and donuts make excellent bread substitutes.

I lived w/out bread for a very long time and still do.

RE: LIVING WITHOUT - Carsman - 08-23-2018

If you call Pizza Dough Bread, then NO! hah

RE: LIVING WITHOUT - BigMark - 08-23-2018

I love bread but it don't love me.

RE: LIVING WITHOUT - sally - 08-24-2018

I can live without bread easily, it's the beer that I have a hard time with. I stopped with the beer and it's killing me, fuck the bread. Fuck it in its fat ass. I've been drinking a couple of glasses of wine ( or a whole bottle) at night and it's just not the same as beer.

True dat. But I used to drink wine and I miss it a little bit. Especially a dry or semi-dry Riesling or a Moscato.

I like dry wine, but it dries me the fuck out. It dries out my mouth and gives me heartburn. It's not the same as an ice cold beer, especially on a hot day.

An ice cold hoppy craft beer. I can't go back to drinking Coors and Budweiser.

An occasional PBR or Corona is ok though.

I can live w/out bread also but have trouble living w/out sugar. I mean I haven't even tried yet.

My brother just recently got diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and Neuropathy in his legs and he's even having trouble living without sugar. And carbs. He was very upset when they told him he could only eat 45 grams of carbs a day. He was like "Almost everything has carbs! What am going to eat?!"

He's even upset that he lost some weight and has to buy new clothes.

RE: LIVING WITHOUT - Love Child - 08-25-2018

LOL Wow.

Just eat veggies and meat.

Diet changes are difficult at first, but then one gets used to it and it isn't so bad.

Agreed. I even told him I'd help him out by trying to change my diet as well. Helps support my brother and will help me as well.

This is a great time of year to be making more healthy choices. Everything is so fresh and easily available. It's harvest time.

Maybe now he'll be a little more motivated to make some room around the kitchen so y'all can cook.

Michelob ultra has almost no carbohydrates.

Hopefully. If not, maybe I'll donate his crap to Goodwill or the Salvation Army and he can buy it all back cheap.

I believe sugar is addictive. Ranking up there with nicotine.

RE: LIVING WITHOUT - Love Child - 08-26-2018

It is.
I have given up my nightly obsession of hagen daz choc pb ice cream for now.
The melons and cantelope grown over here are amazing! I am totally taking advantage of the farmer's markets right now. But I am still having some trouble curbing my nightly salty then sweet cravings at times.

RE: LIVING WITHOUT - sally - 08-26-2018

I can do without sugar, salt is a little harder. It's not that I'm a salt addict, but some things really need it. I try to eat healthy most of the time, but that egg white and veggie scramble I made this morning was just begging for a pinch of salt. I use the iodized salt and just a pinch.
