The border wall is being built as we speak. It has been being built for quite a while and continues, At some point it will be completed and after it has drones and more security will add to it. Personnel will be added and things will be better. No matter what the media says looking into things a bit closer will ease the anxiety of most Americans.
I'm not worried and I believe Trump isn't either. This wall that he is pushing is to see how far the Dems will go for open borders. 2020 is on the horizon and they have nobody to go against him THAT is their fear, I believe this if only by observing the comments left in any of the yahoo or google headlines that are out there.
But that is my belief, feel free to muddle it with the current talking points and shiny glittering emotional visions. Reality is where its at. Believe it or not.

Its not actually.
Trump is winning this in ways that willy old Pelosi can't see.
She is a long-termer. Many of these "freshmen" senator realise that their purpose is to make a great impression and get good results.
What does Nancy give them weeks of shutdown in which they can't negotiate quid pro quo for benefits for illegal immigrant in exchange for some wall that many Democrats voted for in previous years and which he will get with none of those benefits.
In short their limited two year term started off with failing to get concessions and failed preventing Trump building 40% more wall than if he negotiated with them

Tremendous sections of the wall alreadty DO exist

Under Trump that is NOT the claim. He has CORRECTLY pointed out that a lot of the wall already exists. This is true. He is not starting up at a starting point of 0% of the wall built.
So he will NOT need to build it all from scratch. A lot of the wall exists and was built by Presidents not called Trump.

True. How large is large well that is a subjective term in EXACTLY the same as if I told you $10 000 is a large amount this is solely dependent on what you are measuring $10 000 against. If you are homeless I reckon a $10000 cheque is a LARGE amount. If you are a large country and you say that your country allocated $10000 federal funds to homelessness, this is not comparatively large at all and likely will be seen as grossly underprovisioned.
Trump says he has done large sections of wall. This is true. But is it large in terms of what is left, what was there before or just in terms of amount done.
