They are. My ex breds them. I was told a very funny story involving the birthing of one (by my daughter) which involved my ex winding up getting kicked and falling into llama crap. Had a soft spot for them ever since.

Yeah.
She bought a hobby farm (basically did what a lot of pretentious City folk do) and moved out of town to commute to work. Her husband is closing in on retirement and this will be their lot. I would prefer stapling my bottom lip to my forehead.
The farm has enough space for assorted animals. Really it is committing to a country lifestyle without really committing. They are not really going to produce anything but the community is full of similar hobby farmers who can pretend that they are all country folk and in reality just prove to each other how well off they are to afford to keep a heap of useless animals and underused land that they would not know how to farm if they had to.
A circlejerk at a community level.

We were at the zoo once and you can walk into the little petting area and buy a cup of food to feed to the goats and various other filthy animals. When I walked by the llama he reached over the fence he was behind and snagged the whole cup right out of my hand. He or she was pretty cute.
