Your Favourite War Movies? - BruceSmith - 01-22-2010

Hey all,

I've been looking for some good movies as of late but cant seem to find some solid opinions.

War movies based on WW1,WW2 and Vietnam tickle my fancy so any recommendations send my way.

Oh, and I like action

The Hurt Locker is supposed to be very good, but I think it's later than you specified.

Das Boot
U571
The Thin Red Line
Saving Private Ryan
We Were Soldiers

RE: Your Favourite War Movies? - LuMPyPussy - 01-22-2010

Band of Brothers, but that's a mini-series.

not at all historically accurate, but "Inglourious Basterds"(sic) was quite powerful.

RE: Your Favourite War Movies? - twisteroo - 01-22-2010

The big red one.
Patton.
Battle of the bulge.
Kelly's Heros.
The great escape.
Bridge on the river kwai.
The sand pebbles.
Stalag 13.
To hell and back.
Sgt York.
In Harm's Way.

RE: Your Favourite War Movies? - LuMPyPussy - 01-22-2010

I LOVE Sgt York but then I've got a soft spot for Gary Cooper... I loved him in Pride of the Yankees, too.

The only thing in your life that gets any 'action' you retarded slug, is your fingers.

Not guilty.

In the far east people are taught how to spell in proper English otherwise known as "correctly".

+1000 on that. Band of Brothers was so real, so dirty and gritty that it made several of the WWII vets I know break down and cry.

RE: Your Favourite War Movies? - LuMPyPussy - 01-23-2010

I read somewhere that they're going to do a 'sequel' and have the story in the Pacific theater.

RE: Your Favourite War Movies? - twisteroo - 01-23-2010

I've seen bits and pieces of band of brothers, it look like quality stuff.

RE: Your Favourite War Movies? - Luke Warmwater - 01-23-2010

Not that I'm answering "bruce 'I'm queer as a three dollar bill'" question...

but I'm really surprised no one has mentioned The Deer Hunter...
