Read Crackers posts, look at her signature, then tell me whos the one who needs medication? RE: BOOKS! - what are you reading? - notsure - 03-16-2011 Life, Keith Richards bio. his childhood is slow, but him as a fuckup adult is pure joy and entertaining. RE: BOOKS! - what are you reading? - Midwest Spy - 03-16-2011 Walter Mosely's 'The Thrill is Gone'. Fiction. Private detective shit. LC, you may be interested. RE: BOOKS! - what are you reading? - NigsWhittington - 03-20-2011 Just finished Isaac Asimov's Nemesis. Shit was pretty cool, but nowhere near as good as the Robot material he wrote or the Foundation series. Currently engaged in Heinlein's Revolt in 2100. Audiobooks are so fucking cool. I can work and burn a book in under 6 hours. I still prefer actual paper, but if you get a decent voice actor the mp3 version can be pretty titties. Btw, Asimov's I, Robot shits all over that pap smear that Will Smith starred in. Same applies for Richard Mathersons I am Legend. Not too many classic scifi dorks outside of tech forums. Don't be such a douche and we could maybe be friends. hahahaha Foundation series is definitely top ten material. Along with everything Harlan Ellison writes. RE: BOOKS! - what are you reading? - NigsWhittington - 03-20-2011 (03-20-2011, 02:26 AM)Cracker Wrote: If I didn't hate you, I would love you. When the hot, sweaty passion is over, I can hold your hair back while you vomit. <3 RE: BOOKS! - what are you reading? - Lady Cop - 03-20-2011 (03-16-2011, 03:24 PM)Midwest Spy Wrote: Walter Mosely's 'The Thrill is Gone'. Fiction inspires people. Asimov coined the term 'Robot'. Before then machines were simply called automatons. He also described a spacewalk accurately years before the Russian cosmonaut performed the first one in human history. Clarke proposed an idea for geosynchronous satellite orbit. We now RELY on that shit. Fiction authors make things happen. Non-fiction authors are basically historians with a flair for descriptivism. RE: BOOKS! - what are you reading? - Jellybaby - 03-21-2011 The Baburnama - memoirs of Babur, prince and emperor of Afghanistan God's crucible - Islam and the making of Europe RE: BOOKS! - what are you reading? - Midwest Spy - 03-21-2011 (03-20-2011, 02:45 AM)NigsWhittington Wrote:(03-20-2011, 02:33 AM)Lady Cop Wrote: i never read fiction when non-fiction is so much more compelling. I don't think these people get the concept of light reading. After years and years of murder mysteries, I've switched over to what's often referred to as "urban fantasy". I prefer series (because I never want my books to end). I enjoyed the Jim Butcher Dresden File series (for example). The book I'm reading now isn't worth mentioning. It's just okay but I'm beginning to scrape the bottom of the barrel in urban fantasy books. I need to find a new genre. I only read fluff for pleasure reading, John Patterson, Patricia Cornwell, Lisa Gardner, that particular genre. RE: BOOKS! - what are you reading? - mamabear - 03-23-2011 I just discovered Parnell Hall last month and have since read 5 of his books. I love them because they combine 2 of my favorite hobbies: reading and sudoku. |
