Well that's pretty horrifying :(

It's terrible. Officer Marconi is the father of two adult children and became a proud grandfather for the first time this year. :(

Fortunately, the suspect has been identified and apprehended. He was arrested yesterday afternoon after an expansive manhunt; he was driving with a woman and a small child at the time.

Police say ^Otis McKane, 31, was at the police station early Sunday morning talking to an officer through an intercom. They did not reveal why McKane was there.

After he left, Officer Marconi was shot while writing a traffic ticket in his patrol car just outside the police station.

Police said yesterday that they don't believe the person getting a ticket had any connection to McKane, that McKane has a domestic assault record, that they don't believe McKane had any connection to Officer Marconi, and that McKane was under surveillance before his arrest.

No motive has been shared, except that the Chief believes Marconi was targeted because of his uniform.

The shooting came several hours after a man was fatally shot by police in San Antonio, but investigators have not linked the two incidents. In that shooting, a man was killed after police said he pointed a gun at officers following a seven-hour standoff at his ex-girlfriend’s home.

McKane will be charged with capital murder. Executing a cop in Texas is liking begging for the death penalty.

RE: *IN THE LINE OF DUTY* OFFICER DOWN - Carsman - 11-23-2016

The shooting occurred outside police headquarters on West Nueva Street and Santa Rosa Street.

WTF, how brazen can that be, cops have to be going in and out of there all the time! It's good they caught the SOB!

RE: *IN THE LINE OF DUTY* OFFICER DOWN - BigMark - 11-23-2016

McManus said the suspect briefly visited the police station four hours before the shooting, speaking to a desk clerk. McManus did not say what was discussed.

I just read that 20 LEO's were murdered in ambush style attacks this year. Twenty! They were killed because they were cops.

Georgia

^ Lifelong best friends and roommates Jodi Smith and Nicholas Smarr graduated from the Police Academy together in 2012. They were both reportedly engaged to be married.

Yesterday, Smarr, an Americus Police Officer, responded to a domestic dispute call and radioed for back-up. Smith was working nearby; he was a Georgia Southwestern State University Officer. He arrived at the scene before the Americus back-up officer and the two approached the home.

Smarr and Smith were both fatally shot at the scene. Smarr died yesterday and Smith died today. RIP.

Americus Police Chief Mark Scott said that typically, two Americus police officers respond to domestic violence call. “He (Smith) took it upon himself to respond and back up his friend,” Scott said. “They are model officers. They’re heroes, in my opinion.”

The suspect in the shootings of Officers Smarr and Smith, ^ Minquell Lembrick - 32, fled after the shootings and a $70,000 reward was offered for information leading to his apprehension.

He was as convicted felon who reportedly went to the home of a friend today. The friend later left the house and called police, tipping them as to Lembreck's location.

SWAT teams surrounded the home and moved nearby residents out of the area. They heard a shot and hostage negotiators attempted to make contact with the person inside the home for more than an hour.

Eventually, SWAT teams breached the door with a robot and a man officials believe is Lembrick was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Oingo Boingo is great, Biggie, but did you mean to post that video in this thread dedicated to fallen police officers?

RE: *IN THE LINE OF DUTY* OFFICER DOWN - BigMark - 12-09-2016

Yes, because the BLM will make excuses for that shit bag who killed the cops.

RE: *IN THE LINE OF DUTY* OFFICER DOWN - HairOfTheDog - 12-09-2016

I have never seen a single case where the Bureau of Land Management or the Black Lives Matter organization has made excuses for domestic abusers who kill cops.

Can you at least throw out an example so we know what the heck you're talking about?

RE: *IN THE LINE OF DUTY* OFFICER DOWN - SIXFOOTERsez - 12-09-2016

You can start with the guy shot all the cops in Dallas
BLM called him a hero

RE: *IN THE LINE OF DUTY* OFFICER DOWN - HairOfTheDog - 12-09-2016

I saw a handful of idiots express sympathy or praise for the U.S. military veteran who killed the Dallas police officers.

But, the Black Lives Matter organization and leaders immediately released a statement condemning the murders. They're protesting unwarranted killings by police, not of police.

The shooter had attached himself to several radical groups, some of them kicked him out. He was not involved with the BLM organization either.

The Chicago Police Department said goodbye to one of their own recently with a traditional last call.

“All units standby,” a dispatcher said Sunday. “7323 canine Rachel. 7323 canine Rachel. No response for canine Rachel. This is a final call for Chicago Police Explosives canine Rachel.” K-9 Rachel was put down 15 minutes later.

Rachel's spine had been left partially paralyzed due to cancer. She had lived and worked with her handler Officer Charles Kocanda for 10 years and served as an explosives detection K-9 for the Transportation Security Administration.

Rachel had also served and protected the president, first lady, and dignitaries during her career.

RIP.

Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania Trooper Landon Weaver, 25, was killed Dec. 30, 2016 near Altoona. Weaver was responding to a reported violation of a protection-from-abuse order when he was shot. RIP.

For nearly 18 hours after the shooting at 6:30 p.m., a manhunt for the suspect, identified as Jason Robison, 32, involved law enforcement across Huntingdon County.

Eventually, shortly before 11 a.m. Saturday, state police tweeted that Robison was deceased. "Troopers encountered Weaver at an unoccupied mobile home not far from his residence," the statement said. "Robison refused commands to surrender, made threats to harm additional law enforcement personnel, and was shot and killed in the ensuing confrontation."

Robison (pictured right) had an extensive criminal record dating back to 2005; he was freed on bail earlier this month for charges apparently involving a stolen vehicle in October, according to court records.

Florida (again)

[Image: DEBRA-CLAYTON-OPD-PIC-2_2017010917211857...40_360.jpg]
Officer Debra Clayton ^ was a 17-year veteran of the Orlando PD and a mother of two. She was well-respected and loved within the department and the community, by all accounts. Officer Clayton had arranged events to combat violence, loved working with children, and was one of the first officers to respond to the Pulse Nightclub massacre. RIP.

Officer Clayton had been shopping at Walmart when she was approached by another shopper while loading her bags into her trunk. The other shopper told her that a man wanted by police was inside the store; he had shot to death his pregnant ex-girlfriend (also a mother of two) when the woman answered the door on Dec. 13th.
