^ what an amazing lady, thanks LC. The world needs more people like her. I wish it were easier for people to adopt from China, my cousin spent years trying to, finally they got a beautiful baby girl who is now 6 years old, but there was a lot of heartbreak and money spent.

A doctor says the mother of the Tempe baby
who has been missing nearly two years has been restored to competency, which clears the way for her to stand trial.
At the end of September, Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Paul McMurdie ruled that Elizabeth Johnson was incompetent to stand trial. At the same time, he agreed with three doctors who said Johnson would be restored to competency with medication and counseling....
Gabriel Johnson was just 8 months old when he vanished just after Christmas 2009.
Johnson faces charges of kidnapping, conspiracy to commit custodial interference and child abuse. She has been in jail since she was extradited back to Phoenix from Florida in January 2010.
Johnson originally claimed she killed the baby boy, but later said she gave the child to a couple in San Antonio, Texas.
The last time Gabriel was seen alive was in a San Antonio hotel room a couple of days after Christmas two years ago. Despite an extensive multi-state search and a massive investigation, there has been no sign of Gabriel since then.

Jury deliberations have begun in an Arizona woman's trial in the disappearance of her baby more than two years ago.
A Maricopa County Superior Court jury began deliberating Wednesday. They're to continue Thursday.
Elizabeth Johnson is charged with kidnapping, custodial interference and conspiracy to commit custodial inference in the December 2009 disappearance of her then-8-month-old son, Gabriel.
She faces up to 27 years in prison if convicted on all counts.
Authorities say Johnson told the boy's father that she killed Gabriel and dumped him in a trash bin in San Antonio, Texas.
She recanted and told police that she gave the baby to a couple at a San Antonio park, but she never provided names.
Police don't know if the child is still alive.

I'm disappointed that Tammi Smith only got 30 days and 3 years probation. I remember her and her husband hitting the talk shows and making themselves out to be victims/saviors who only tried to help Elizabeth and Gabriel. They were plastered all over the tv and lied like rugs. Tammi Smith forged documents and helped enable Elizabeth Johnson to steal Gabriel from his father. I don't believe a word from her mouth, then or now.
Elizabeth Johnson is a lying manipulative POS. I think she killed Gabriel, but sure hope she really did give him away. I don't think she's ever gonna tell the true story; she likes the power of keeping everyone guessing. She needs to stay locked up for a very very long time, imo.

Geralyn Graham gets 55 years in Rilya Wilson foster child abuse case

Even as she was about to face justice for kidnapping and child abuse, Geralyn Graham insisted she never harmed foster child Rilya Wilson.
“I love her too much to ever have done anything to her. Things have been greatly exaggerated,” Graham said. “I ask that those who believe I’ve done these things forgive me, and those who know in their hearts I would never do these things to keep praying for me. The truth will come out.”
Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez, however, was not swayed — sentencing Graham to 55 years in prison. That means the 67-year-old Graham will likely die behind bars.
The judge lamented that Florida’s child welfare system failed the 4-year-old girl, whose disappearance from Graham’s home went unnoticed for more than a year.
“One can only be inherently evil to inflict that type of pain and torment on an innocent child,” Tinkler Mendez told Graham. “Rilya Wilson deserved nothing less than a loving, caring, nurturing environment. Instead she lived in fear and suffered in a house of torture, torment and abuse.”
Graham was convicted by jury last month. Tinkler Mendez could have sentenced Graham to as much as life in prison, and to as little as 11.5 years behind bars.
Prosecutors believe Graham smothered Rilya, a foster child, with a pillow, disposed of her body near water in South Miami-Dade, then spent years telling conflicting versions of what happened to the child. Jurors, by an 11-1 vote, deadlocked on a count of first-degree murder.
The jury convicted Graham of kidnapping, two counts of aggravated child abuse and one of child abuse.
After Tuesday’s sentencing, prosecutors embraced U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson, a former state senator who championed Rilya’s case and pushed for DCF reform. Speaking to reporters, Wilson held hands with Rilya’s older sister, Brandy Sims, who doesn’t remember her little sister.
“She will spend the rest of her life in prison,” a satisfied Wilson said.
The case was significant for the Florida Department of Children & Families, which did not notice the girl was missing for 15 months. Graham told investigators that a mystery DCF worker whisked the child away for mental health treatment.
Graham was later arrested for and convicted of fraud. Based on incriminating statements from her domestic partner, Graham was then charged with aggravated child abuse of Rilya.
Her partner, Pamela Graham, no relation, agreed to plead guilty to a lesser charge of child neglect.
Pamela Graham, a meek shell of a woman, testified at trial that Geralyn Graham would bind the child’s hands to the bed railing with plastic “flex cuffs” and confine Rilya in a laundry room for hours.
A friend of the pair told police that Graham borrowed a dog cage to put Rilya in when she misbehaved, although no could say they saw the child in there as punishment.
Acquaintances also testified that Graham gave conflicting stories about what happened to the girl — to some, she claimed the girl was on a road trip with a “Spanish lady” friend.
A grand jury indicted Geralyn Graham in 2005 after she allegedly confessed in detail to inmate Robin Lunceford, who testified at trial over four days. Two other inmates also testified that Graham, while behind bars, suggested she killed the child.

Mother accused of putting baby in freezer pleads guilty to aggravated murder
The Toledo mother accused of killing her newborn child and putting the baby in a freezer changed her plea on Friday morning to guilty.
21-year-old Kenisha Pruitt was then sentenced to life in prison with possibility of parole after 20 years.

Pruitt says on January 30th of 2012 she gave birth in the bathroom while Cervantez was in the room. Pruitt says she then got in the bath tub and submerged the baby underwater, holding the baby there. She says she then handed the baby back to Cervantez as the baby was still breathing. Pruitt admitted she then used a shoelace to tie the baby's throat. She says Cervantez then left the bathroom and told Pruitt he wrapped the baby in plastic and put the baby in a freezer.
Three months later in April the landlord of the home found the baby in the freezer. Pruitt and Cervantez had recently moved out of the home.
Cervantez also faces charges in the baby's death. He's due in court in March.

Ian Watkins ^, 36, front-man for the band Lostprophets, was arrested last December and charged with more than 20 offenses, including conspiring to sexually assault a child and making indecent images.
Watkins had initially denied the charges but changed his plea Tuesday at Cardiff Crown Court and admitted 11 offenses, including sexually touching a 1-year-old, encouraging a groupie to abuse her child and making child pornography.
The BBC reports that one of the text messages being used as evidence against Watkins allegedly read, “If you belong to me, so does your child.”
According to the BBC, evidence against Watkins came from computers, laptops and mobile phones. Watkins allegedly filmed the assaults which took place in several hotels in London and south Wales.
Watkins also reportedly planned to “teach” the infants how to use drugs.
Prosecutors said meth, cocaine and GHB, also known as liquid ecstasy, were found during their searches, reports the BBC.
Lostprophets - which formed in 1997 and had a chart-topping album in 2006 with "Liberation Transmission" - announced it was disbanding after lead singer Watkins' arrest.

The Richters are in jail on $100k and $75k bond for alleged child abuse, kidnapping, and (he) one count of sexual abuse. LE is investigating whether these POS parents may have also streamed footage of the girls being held captive and abused.
It's alleged that the Richters held her three girls captive for two years in Tucson, Az. The girls are 17, 13 and 12.
The children lived a filthy, dungeon-like existence in their central Tucson home for up to two years, Police Chief Roberto Villaseñor said.
Neighbors didn't even know that children were living with the couple.
The girls were reportedly filthy - hadn't bathed in months - and malnourished, having been served one helping of noodles a day.
There was no record of them being enrolled in school (mom says she home-schooled them
).The 17 year old was kept in a separate room and kept a diary, which is reportedly helping LE with details of their daily existence, which included living in rooms with the windows covered by duct tape, having music and static constantly blaring at them, being monitored by motion sensors and cameras, being forced to go to the bathroom in the closet if mom or stepdad denied requests to unlock the door so they could use the toilet, etc...
On Tuesday, the two younger girls escaped when their stepdad entered their room wielding a knife - they ran to a neighbor's house and 911 was called. The girls were reportedly afraid the stepdad had killed mom. The 17 year old was rescued from a separate room and all are in CPS custody.
Members of the mom's family said they were denied access to the children and didn't know where the family was living. They say Sophia told them that Fernando was a great dad and bought the girls clothes and took them to all kinds of fun places, etc... They say she had been abused by Fernando and she's a lying bitch (paraphrased).

Tre'viance Markese Walker, 22, ^ is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend's 5-month-old son, who has been identified only as "J.B.", The Oklahoman reported.
An affidavit states that J.B. died of head injuries he received on December 7 under Walker's care at the man's home in Norman, Oklahoma.
Walker allegedly told police that he was watching at the University of Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State football game on TV when J.B. started crying, and Walker responded by picking up the infant so aggressively that J.B.'s head "snapped back."
Then, officials say, Walker gripped the back of J.B.'s head before dropping him from a height of two feet, according to Fox 25.
Hours later, J.B. was found unresponsive in his playpen, News 9 reported. He had head trauma and blood in his ear.
Cops say Walker initially denied touching the baby, but later admitted to his actions.
Neighbor Jimmy Shannon told Fox 25 that Walker was frustrated because he lost $200 on the game.
