So I've now seen the original picture before cropping and I will say it looks a bit different, the bruising is still there but doesn't look as prominent, also in it she doesn't appear to have bruises on her arm. She is standing between her aunts legs while and it looks as though her aunt was putting her hair back in a ponytail. Also she doesn't look as sad as she does here, almost like she is half smiling. The pic is now posted on all the lewis county sites on fb, I can't post as on my phone.
The pic came from the grandmothers phone and apparent the story the extended family was told is she ran into a door facing and that is how she has the bruise on her face.

Morgantown, W.Va. — A court official is recommending substance abuse treatment and home detention for the mother of a missing toddler while she awaits trial on welfare fraud.
Federal records show pretrial services officer Brian Kilgore wants the court to intervene in the case of 29-year-old Lena Lunsford, who was caught with synthetic drugs called bath salts.
Lunsford's 3-year-old daughter Aliayah vanished from her Lewis County home Sept. 24 and hasn't been found. Her mother has since been indicted on multiple counts of welfare fraud but is free on supervised release.
Kilgore's petition says Lunsford is unwilling to cooperate and is withholding information. It says a state trooper caught Lunsford and husband Ralph in possession of bath salts in a Clarksburg parking lot Nov. 1.
Neither of Lunsford's attorneys immediately commented Wednesday.

Why substance abuse treatment and home detention? Why not just put her ass in jail until her welfare fraud trial? She'd be in county lock-up, not impossible to get drugs, but definitely harder than out on the street (and they don't have to worry about her leaving).

I wonder if the twins tested positive for drugs when they were born. Why did this "substance abuse" recommendation come up now?
What is a "pretrial services officer"? Is this a court appointed lawyer? Are they trying to do a pretrial deal of some kind?

if the drugs are determined to be hers, she will be thrown in jail for violating her bond on the welfare fraud. regardless of what bleeding heart pretrial services officer suggests.

Thanks LC. Nice lists there. Explains why RL does not drive 3rd offense DUI, probably lost his license for a long, long time. No substance abuse record for Lena, so why is the pretrial officer recommending substance abuse counseling?

I know about the purchase of "bath salts", but wonder if there is not more behind the story. Was she using drugs while she was pregnant? Did the twins test positive for drugs when they were born?

none of that information has been made public that i'm aware of. especially about the condition of the newborns.
i hope her bond is revoked on the 28th. it should be.
U.S. District Magistrate John Kaull has set a hearing for November 28th. Lunsford is expected to attend. She was a no show at her hearing last week because she was said to be in labor, but her attorney pleaded not guilty for her on her behalf.
Neither of Lunsford's attorneys immediately commented Wednesday.
Eyewitness News attempted to contact Lena and Ralph on Wednesday. We visited both their Dennison Street home, and the home of Lena's mother, JoAnn Evans, in Ireland.
No one was home at the Dennison Street home, and no one would come to the door at Evans' home.
We're told the Lunsford's frequently stay with Evans and are seen around town quite often.
