I hope to God law enforcement is keeping things quiet because they are doing a smash up job and are about ready to break the case wide open. I'm not far from Huntington, WV and I'm an alumni of Marshall University where Leah Hickman was murdered in an off-campus apartment in December 2007. Her murder remains unsolved and unpublicized. There was the initial coverage by Nancy Grace just like here, but the matter has faded away. Police "don't want to compromise their investigation" by talking to the public. The towns of Weston and Huntington are half a state apart and the investigators are totally different people but I PRAY that the same thing doesn't go on with Aliayah's case. The parents in Leah's case have been quiet as far as I can tell as well. I promise you if my child went missing, I would rattle every cage from here to China. No one would forget my child or my mission to find her. I would have a gallery of restraining orders!!! My child would not just be a blurb in a local newspaper once a year on the anniversary. I hope the public does not let Aliayah's case fade away. I'm terrified we will never know what happend to her!

Thanks LC! I hope you are wrong about this being like Haleigh but I have sinking feeling as well. The story is strange. I know it's been covered.... the driving to 2 hours. It's all just plain illogical. My theory is that she overdosed her on meds accidentally when trying to quiet a sick kid and she woke up to find her dead. I hate saying it and I sooooo hope I'm wrong. My theory makes more since then her story. And I feel the 9 y.o. sibling was moved to mommy's room so Mom and/or stepdad could dispose of body. Please let me be wrong!

Your theory does make sense, but I really d hope this little girl is found alive.
I don't get the driving around for 2 hours either. I really don't want to speculate too much on the family but I would think if i were in her shoes, i would be calling the police while driving/walking to look for my little girl. According to the FB rumor mill, she was spotted that morning (while doing her driving) at a gas station buying cigarettes (no gas) strange since she ran out. Also her daughter was with her as her daughter asked people if they had any gas cans..... i wouldn't think she would bring her daughter is she were disposing of a body. Has anyone talked to the person who picked up the step-dad?

Thanks LC, I have been reading these blogs for a while now. I cannot fathom how a little girl can wander out of her house and not be found for 5 days. There is more to this story for sure.I also find it strange that according to Aliayah's Aunt's FB page (Wendy Swiger), she has been doing quizzes for the past 5 days, I can certainly say I would not be on FB doing them if my niece was missing.

Ok since this IS the rumor mill...I just got a call telling me that they found Aliayah in a building close to their residence, and they arrested the step dad, Can anyone confirm this rumor? I did catch the tail end of the scanner a little bit ago saying they had one male in custody and was heading to the Regional Jail, but didn't hear the rest of it! I pray this isn't true!

Sounds like someone was just booked in at the local jail on a misdemeanor, don't think that would have anything to do with the case....

booking can take a while.
but i hate even giving the least attention to rumors, i know better. it IS locals and even a couple relatives (they claim) on that site, so i keep watching it.
i'm also in touch with a local reporter. will rely on that even if it means waiting.

I know the rumors are bad, I just saw someone write they had heard she was found and had been beaten to death, such a horrible thought. Don't people have better things to do then start rumors about a poor missing child....?
