She was very expressive, great voice, and loved her style too.

BUT, she wasn't as expressive as this guy, who I'm listening to now. 109

For @LoveChild:

Such a great song, imo. Heard it on the oldies station on the drive home and had @LoveChild's avatar in my mind the whole time. Smiley_emoticons_smile

Sometimes "catty" is magic...

Stray Cats, Stray Cat Strut, released in 1981

Al Stewart, Year of the Cat, released in 1976

Cat Stevens, Father and Son, released in 1970

'She steps out of the sun with her silk dress running like water colors in the rain... Don't bother asking for explanations, she'll just tell you that she came... In the Year of the Cat.'

One of my faves!

I remember being in the dentist office and that song was on as he yanked my wisdom teeth out. It still hurts the same.

Songs always bring you back to specific places and times.

However, they can't always guarantee the memories are happy ones.

I love Al Stewart too, MS.

I only saw him once; at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano. IIRC, he played ahead of Donovan that night. That was my favorite place to see a show - steak, full bar, nobody stressed if you puffed in the bathroom - great acts in a small dark venue. Black Crowes killed it there too; saw 'em right when "Hard to Handle" hit the airwaves.

Got pulled over leaving the Al Stewart show because the path leading to the Coach House is an unlit dirt road (at least, it used to be); wasn't "drunk" but definitely buzzed and shouldn't have been driving. Luckily, the PD let my boyfriend take the wheel. Dodged a bullet; it was stupid. Great show though.

Definitely living in the past today...

Another great one of his, Time Passages:

This is false; all of California is very wet today.

It's okay though; we're gonna be foolish about it.

Midwest Spy request. "Hangin' on a String" by Loose Ends, 1985...

RIP Jazz great Dave Brubeck
Dec 6, 1920 to Dec 5, 2012

RE: Living in the past? - Adub - 12-05-2012

Hey, I know this guy. Saw him last at Mills College at an Alumni event thingie in 06. He didn't act his age at all. I first met him in the late 60s thru the my older brother who also went to Mills. Brubeck was his artistic inspiration.

But my Elvis is still alive

RE: Living in the past? - HairOfTheDog - 12-06-2012

Brubeck was amazing and Elvis Costello is too. Good stuff, Adub.
