CHEATERS, con'td

An older version of me
Is she perverted like me?

Would she go down on you in a theater?

RE: Living in the past? - HairOfTheDog - 11-01-2014

CHEATERS, cont'd

Here she comes again
When she's dancing 'neath the starry sky
She'll make you flip

She's my best friend's girl........and she used to be mine Crying-into-tissue

RE: Living in the past? - HairOfTheDog - 11-01-2014

CHEATERS, cont'd

She don't love you like I love you
Cause if she did she wouldn't break your heart

She don't love you like I love you
She's tryin' to tear us apart

RE: Living in the past? - HairOfTheDog - 11-01-2014

CHEATERS, con'td

He said I'll love you 'til I die
She told him you'll forget in time
As the years went slowly by
She still preyed upon his mind.

He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
He stopped loving her today...

RE: Living in the past? - HairOfTheDog - 11-01-2014

CHEATERS, the end...

I got a woman, wanna ball all day
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time
I got a little woman and she won't be true

Hey, hey, what can I do?

Love Zeppelin. They are my favorite of all.

RE: Living in the past? - HairOfTheDog - 11-02-2014

I'm helping with a college psychology paper -- we're looking at various ways different personality types respond to rejection and betrayal and how those reactions are depicted in popular cultural (music, movies, literature).

It's been fun research, but I think the the scope needs to be narrowed substantially -- hard to pull it all together in any meaningful context in 7 pages.

Anyway, I love all of Zeppelin's stuff, too -- the hard and the mellow.

Was reading some cheesy shit on-line about the hottest women from 80's videos and I ran across the 'Hot For Teacher' video (among others) from Van Halen.

I remember thinking at the time that VH must be living that life some consider a myth (rocker's life).

Anyway, for old time's sake HotD, will you post it up for me?

RE: Living in the past? - HairOfTheDog - 11-05-2014

Here you go, MS.

RE: Living in the past? - Midwest Spy - 11-05-2014

Thanks, HotD.

Eddie's sound on his solo's was unique when they burst on the scene in the late 70's

He's still right at the top of my favorite guitarists.

In 1987 when Time Stand Still came out, I loved the song.

One of my favorites from Rush.

Now as the years move steadily along, the lyrics are so much more meaningful.

Just heard it today, and would love it if HotD or Duchess could post it for me.

TIA.

It looks like there are several videos. If there is one you prefer over this one let me know and I'll exchange it.

Appreciate it!

I like posting with you, MS.

Sometimes despite our differences, and sometimes because of them.

That's just the way it is.

^ Also from 1987, for you -- love the lyrics, composition and piano.

RE: Living in the past? - Midwest Spy - 11-25-2014

Thanks, HotD.

I may have shared this before, but I got to see Huey Lewis and Bruce Hornsby together in 1986 at a high school gymnasium in Lillehammer, Norway (yes, the Olympic town BEFORE it was an Olympic town).

I bet there were less than 1,500 people there. Everyone put on a great show.

Ed's sound is unique. It's because he rips everything out of the guitar and replaces it with his own components from his mad genius frankenstein laboratory. Nobody ever has or ever will have his sound.

So yesterday, I mentioned how I'd discovered that The Rockford Files is on Netflix.

Last night, I dug in for a Rockford marathon.

I watched the first 2 episodes and then started another. I noticed in that one, that there were several scenes from Sunset Blvd, where of course I just visited for the first time in October.

There's a nightclub in one scene with a sign out front called Garrazzi's (or something like it). So I google it to see if it's still there.

I find out that it WAS one of the biggest clubs from the LA music scene in the 70's and 80's and that Van Halen essentially got their start RIGHT THERE.

The club has been gone since 1996 or so.

Funny how some shit works.

I liked Jim when he was Maverick. He acted the same way he does in your show.

RE: Living in the past? - Blindgreed1 - 11-26-2014

Here's a fun Van Halen fact: Gene Simmons of Kiss produced VH's first album. After Ace left Kiss, Ed auditioned for the spot. Gene declined, not on a talent level, he just knew Ed wouldn't be content to play Ace's parts and follow suit as instructed. Imagine what a trip it would be if Ed was in Kiss instead of VH.

Man, that would have been one drama-filled "Behind the Music" episode.

Considering Sammy Hagar found Eddie too consistently comfortably numb to work with, I doubt drug-free Gene would have been a happy man -- despite Eddie's undeniable unique talent.

Zappa was even less tolerant of altered states than Gene and probably woulda kicked Eddie outta auditions even. But, Dweezil was pretty effin' lucky to have Eddie as a teacher and producer.

Anyway, I love this clip -- Eddie paying tribute to Les Paul.

P.s. MS, it was Gazzarri's, not Garrazi's. And, it was a very raw and dirty venue. I loved it. I think you would have absolutely hated it (aside from the music and the girls, of course).
