I know you prefer all things British, so here's one my favorite subtle love songs from across the pond. I have a feeling you'll recognize it. Sit on my face and tell me that you love me I'll sit on your face and tell you I love you too I love to hear you oralize when I'm between your thighs You blow me away Sit on my face and let my lips embrace you I'll sit on your face and then I'll love you truly Life can be fine if we both sixty nine If we sit on our faces in all sorts of places And play till we're blown away Chokes me up every time... I like that song, both versions that I've heard. Your interpretation is so obvious though! Subtlety, depth, mystery. That's what CN's looking for. A classic American love song that reeks of subtlety by one of my favorites. I bet CN can figure out the underlying meaning, if he flashes back to his single party days. Really do appreciate the fact you're sittin' here Your voice sounds so wonderful But your face don't look too clear So barmaid, bring a pitcher another round o' brew Honey, why don't we get drunk an' screw? Why don't we get drunk an' screw? I just bought a waterbed, it's filled up for me an' you They say you are a snuff queen Honey, I don't think that's true So, why don't we get drunk an' screw? RE: FAVORITE LYRICS? - Mohammed - 05-14-2013 Ninja is right, only the English can excel at deep, meaningful lyrics. Why, one of my all time favourites which I play at special occasions, ranging from weddings to funerals is by none other than Norman Cook, otherwise also known as Fatboy Slim, and his legendary musical piece of art, Star 69. "What the fuck? They know what is what, But they don't know what is what, They just strut. What the fuck? They just know, What they know, What they don't know, What is what. They just strut. What the fuck?" RE: FAVORITE LYRICS? - Cynical Ninja - 05-14-2013 I'm surprised you classify fatboy slim as music I sure as hell don't. Name any none British lyricist and i will immediately trump them with a superior British lyricist. Since I'm sorta direct by nature, "subtlety" isn't a requirement in determining quality for me, though I certainly appreciate it in many contexts. You're a subtle man, CN; I can see how subtlety makes your world go 'round. I really like the not-so-subtle lyrics that I posted yesterday, they make me smile or laugh. But, it seems that maybe you're a sensitive or tortured soul who only finds value in lyrics that allow you to ponder the intended meaning, assign them unique messages all your own, or that simply touch you softly in an emotional way? Me, I like music and lyrics, all different types and genres. Not a music snob; don't care if the piece comes from the UK, the US, South Africa, Australia, Iceland, Canada or anywhere else. (I could post some Bjork or Alanis Morrisette if you call me out on those last two.) We've posted lots of lyrics in this thread, so be a man of your word and post up those British lyrics that send you, all-talk-no-action-man!! DO IT, DO IT, DO IT TIL YOU'RE SATISFIED! RE: FAVORITE LYRICS? - Cynical Ninja - 05-14-2013 Imagine by John Lennon. I'm not quoting the lyrics because EVERYONE already knows them. End. Of. Thread. RE: FAVORITE LYRICS? - HairOfTheDog - 05-14-2013 I love "Imagine". Posted it in the "Living in the Past" video thread, in fact. I wouldn't call it subtle; it's actually somewhat commanding. Mr. Lennon was telling us the exact scenarios he wished us to contemplate, and implying that those scenarios would be preferable to the reality of the time. Thought provoking, maybe. Beautiful, oh yeah, to me at least - because I happen to agree with the message. I love this one too: Thread keeps on rollin'... RE: FAVORITE LYRICS? - Maggot - 05-14-2013 One of my favorites: Dirty old river, must you keep rolling Flowing into the night People so busy, makes me feel dizzy Taxi light shines so bright But I don't need no friends As long as I gaze on waterloo sunset I am in paradise Every day I look at the world from my window But chilly, chilly is the evening time Waterloo sunsets fine Terry meets julie, waterloo station Every friday night But I am so lazy, don't want to wander I stay at home at night But I don't feel afraid As long as I gaze on waterloo sunset I am in paradise Every day I look at the world from my window But chilly, chilly is the evening time Waterloo sunsets fine Millions of people swarming like flies round waterloo underground But terry and julie cross over the river Where they feel safe and sound And the don't need no friends As long as they gaze on waterloo sunset They are in paradise Waterloo sunsets fine RE: FAVORITE LYRICS? - HairOfTheDog - 05-14-2013 You'll know heartache Still more crying When you're thinking of your mother's only son Take to your bed You say there's peace in sleep But you'll dream of love instead Oh the heartache you'll find Can bring more pain than a blistering sun But oh when you fall Oh when you fall Fall at my door... Here's one that's been playing in my mind recently. She's frequently kind and she's suddenly cruel She can do as she pleases, she's nobody's fool And she can't be convicted, she's earned her degree And the most she will do is throw shadows at you, But she's always a woman to me By Billy Joel, from The Stranger album The muse was a very smart, deep, and direct woman; mind as strong as heart. The best kind, imo. RE: FAVORITE LYRICS? - Cynical Ninja - 05-24-2013 “Hurt” I hurt myself today To see if I still feel I focus on the pain The only thing that's real The needle tears a hole The old familiar sting Try to kill it all away But I remember everything What have I become My sweetest friend? Everyone I love Goes away in the end And you could have it all My empire of dirt I will let you down I will make you hurt I wear this crown of thorns Upon my liars chair Full of broken thoughts I cannot repair Beneath the stairs of time Feelings disappear You are someone else I am still right here And you could have it all My empire of dirt I will let you down I will make you hurt If I could start again A million miles away I would keep myself I would find a way Johnny Cash did a version of this song when he was close to death you can see the video on youtube its had about a billion hits or something. If you watch it and don't have a lump in your throat by the time its finished you aren't human. |
