Too late.

It became officially mind numbing on page 5.

Who's to say the other women would have been given the same winning numbers if she had taken her place in the queue in front of the eventual winner?

If the computer “randomly” generates peoples numbers she might have gotten a completely different set of numbers from the winning numbers.

And for that reason she doesn't deserve dollar one from the winner.

This gives me a headache. If the woman kept her place in line, it's a safe assumption that she would have received the winning numbers (provided they were computer generated).

If you were to turn back time could you guarantee the computer would randomly generate the same winning numbers for the same person in the same place in the queue?

You seem to be saying that a computer randomly crunching numbers is following some kind of destiny or fate to reproduce the same numbers at any given point in time?

RE: Do you play powerball (lottery)? - username - 06-08-2013

Okay, I see your point. A second here, a second there and the numbers might have been different. I don't know how exactly "random" they are but that makes sense.

RE: Do you play powerball (lottery)? - Cynical Ninja - 06-08-2013

I suppose it all depends on how linear or none linear you think time is. There isn't really any right or wrong answer there are arguments for both viewpoints.

The fact remains that she won because of the good manners of someone else.

You're not listening!

That's only true if you think a computer randomly crunching numbers has a sense of fate or destiny.

Saying she won because of the good manners of someone else is sweet but illogical captain.

This has become a puzzle for me and I haven't been able to find answer. If you leave the machine alone in a given store for some period of time, will it still generate the same quick pic number it would have before despite the break? Or not? Is the system all interrelated so every time a ticket is sold all the other machines get a new set of numbers? Hmmmm.

No. You could have 50 people with the exact same numbers, the jackpot would then be split 50 ways.

Yeah, I know. I didn't phrase that well. I guess I was wondering if Joe Blow buys a ticket at 711 just before I buy a ticket at Safeway will my numbers be different than it would have been before Joe bought his ticket.

I'm basically trying to figure out if that woman would have gotten the same numbers as the elderly lady irrespective of time and other events.

Maggot's REALLY going to get bored now.

I'm trying to figure out how I could play the numbers 1 min. after they are called. Its a calibration thing.

Exactly.

A computer randomly crunching numbers doesn't care how many or how few winners there are it just crunches numbers.

There could be one winner or a hundred the computer doesn't care.

$448 Million Powerball Payout...

Paul White, his girlfriend, and his boss & wife

Lucky guy. He totally expected to win and practically ran to the Minneapolis Lottery Office when the numbers were read (after dancing around his office). Mr. White took the instant payout of $86 million.

A group of 16 maintenance workers from New Jersey also hold a winning ticket and are expected to do a press conference next week.

The third winning ticket holder hasn't come forward yet.

Powerball is up to 400 million for tonight's drawing. It will probably be a little more than that by the time the numbers are drawn. Got tix?

I don't play powerball or lottery, but for those who do, maybe buying retailers' "mistakes" is the way to go. I don't know what retailers put aside as mistakes, but seems to be a winning strategy for this guy.

[Image: joseph-palmarchuk_20131108224928_320_240.JPG]

Officials say Joseph Palmarchuk won a $1.35 million lottery jackpot Wednesday in Michigan’s Classic Lotto 47 game. In the past few years, Palmarchuk has also won a $1 million lottery game in Tennessee.

Palmarchuk and wife Phillis moved to Mecosta County, north of Grand Rapids, in 2011. He says he likes to buy lottery tickets that retailers put aside as mistakes.

The Palmarchuks plan to hunt for a condominium in a warm state to skip Michigan winters.

Pretty damn lucky. What are the odds? (I looked around, couldn't find the odds attached to any of the stories about Palmarchuk).
