ANOTHER SCHOOL/PUBLIC SHOOTING
The good news is, no one is held accountable and we can continue on with our business (in this latest case).

16-year-old Jaelynn Willey (top). Willey is still in critical condition, fighting for her life in the hospital.

Her parents removed her from life support last night and she has died :(

Jaelynn's funeral will be held on Friday. I hope her parents are holding up okay.

LE released a bunch of new information about the shooting yesterday and today, including a timeline and 911 calls placed from the school.

It was a single bullet which fatally struck Jaelynn and then traveled through the thigh of Desmond Barnes.

The shooter, Jaelynn's ex-boyfriend Austin Rollins, was not killed by the school resource officer (who is also a SWAT member). Rollins put a bullet in his own head about three minutes after he shot Jaelynn. He committed suicide at the same time Officer Gaskill confronted him and fired a bullet that struck Rollins' hand.

I didn't see any update regarding how Rollins got a hold of his dad's gun and whether charges against the dad are being pursued.

NBC is reporting that Omar Mateen, the guy who murdered so many at Pulse nightclub had intended to attack Disney World but got spooked by the presence of LEO's. How 'bout that shit, it's bad enough he killed all those young adults but what he really wanted was to kill kids and their families.

Him and his wife staked out Disney Springs. It's different from the other parks that only have one way in and one way out with bag checks. Disney Springs is completely open all away around and would be pretty easy for someone to walk in and start shooting.

That's pretty messed up that they went to Disney Springs with their own kid all the while planning how they're going to kill a bunch of people.

It's so fuckin' unnerving.

The prosecutors in Mateen's wife's trial say that he planned on sneaking guns into Disney Springs in his child's stroller. It is diabolical and unnerving.

The prosecutor said Mateen had to choose a new target because he spotted police security at Disney Springs. I think armed police security outside of schools and public spaces is sometimes a strong deterrent and a better idea than allowing citizens to carry guns in what are now gun-free zones with lots of children. But, there definitely needs to be better screening and active shooter response training for it to be most effective.

Anyway, I'm curious to see whether the wife is convicted of aiding and abetting or if the jury instead believes she was an unwitting, slow-minded, abused victim of her murderous husband (as the Defense asserts). The trial is coming to a close. I think she'll probably be found guilty, but the Defense's assertions might help her in the sentencing phase.

The jury deliberated for 11 hours and acquitted Noor Salman, wife of the Pulse nightclub shooter.

She was found 'not guilty' on all charges (aiding, abetting and obstruction).

I guess the jury believed that even though Mateen had talked to her about jihad and scoped out Disney Springs with her...............she was too slow, scared and abused to tell anyone. And, since she didn't know he'd changed the target, she couldn't have aided or abetted him in the Pulse attack. That was the gist of her defense.

Hoping there are no fatalities this time.

Not a lot of details yet.

The shooting happened at around 12:46 p.m. in an outdoor cafe on the grounds of the facility. The woman believed to be the shooter was found dead. “We did locate a victim with what we believe to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” said San Bruno Police Chief Ed Barberini. “It’s a female, but the investigation is still ongoing before we can put all the pieces together.”

Barberini said officers encountered a chaotic situation when they arrived. “We did encounter one victim with an apparent gunshot wound towards the front of the business as we arrived,” he said. “Several minutes later while conducting a search of the premises, officers located a second individual with a gunshot wound that may have been self-inflicted.”

Barberini said two other victims were found several minutes later at an adjacent business.

The YouTube shooter hasn't been publicly identified yet.

Police say that she shot at her boyfriend and hit two other people in the process, according to the local news.

Her boyfriend is in critical condition, one female victim is in serious condition, and the other female victim is in fair condition at San Francisco General.

She used a handgun, so there's a better chance for victim survival than if she'd use a semi-automatic rifle. Hoping all three pull through.

Or an AUTOMATIC rifle, cuz those are deadlier!

Fortunately............there are regulations making it very difficult to get a hold of automatic rifles in this country and they have to be registered. So, we don't currently see mass/multiple shootings carried out with them in the U.S.

We do, however, see easily-accessible and unregistered semi-automatic rifles used in mass/multiple shootings regularly.

Shots fired from semi-automatic rifles (and automatic rifles, just for you) -- all other factors equal -- do more tissue/internal damage and leave larger exit wounds (plus blood loss) than wounds resulting from handgun shots.

So yeah, Bigman, the victims would have had less chance of survival or full recovery had the shooter used an AR-15 or similar semi rifle (or an automatic rifle, just for you).

But may have been spotted earlier and apprehended before mayhem ensued.

Or, may have been spotted earlier, started shooting earlier, thus shooting more than 3 people.

Anyway, my statement was that had she USED a semi-automatic rifle to shoot people, the bullet wounds would be worse.

I'm not arguing with your astute suggestion that NOT getting shot by a semi-automatic (or automatic) is way less risky to one's health than getting shot by a handgun.

Astute suggestion by a SUBSTANTIAL person.

If you'd had better teachers, you'd know that the word you're looking for is SUBSTANDARD. They sound alike, Biggie, but they don't mean the same thing. Awink
