Maine

Somerset County Sheriff's Corporal Eugene Cole, 62 (pictured center) was found shot to death in a front yard in Norridgewock on Wednesday morning. He was a 13 year veteran of the force and described as the best of the best. Rest in peace.

Today, the suspect, John Daniel Williams, was arrested exiting a woody area. He was shirtless and barefoot. Scary looking dude. He was arrested one hour after his wife read a plea for him to turn himself in. (Edit: corrected suspect’s name)

Authorities said Williams also stole Cole's police cruiser and robbed a Cumberland Farms convenience store. Cole's car was later found abandoned off Martin Road around 5am on Wednesday.

Williams has a criminal history and was arrested in March by Massachusetts State Police and charged with carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a large-capacity firearm and other offenses. He was scheduled to appear in court for a hearing the day of the shooting.

Somerset County Sheriff's Department has not released a motive for Wednesday's crime.

Baltimore County officer Amy Caprio, 30, died earlier this month while responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle. She had been with the force for nearly four years. Rest in peace.

Her funeral last Friday was attended by more than a thousand, including one hundred fellow officers. Caprio was the first female officer killed in the line of duty in Baltimore.

Police accused 16-year-old Dawnta Harris (^ left) of running over her in a stolen Jeep.

The state was formally supervising Harris, who was wearing an ankle bracelet pending sentencing for auto theft when he was arrested in Caprio's death. On May 22, Harris was ordered held without bail by a judge who called him a "one-man crime wave."

Also facing murder charges are his three alleged accomplices, all teens, pictured above. They were allegedly committing a burglary when Caprio was run down.

In Maryland, if someone is killed during a burglary, accomplices can be found guilty of murder along with the killer.

Dickson County sheriff's Sgt. Daniel Baker was killed after responding to a call about a suspicious car stopped on the side of the roadway early Wednesday, the state police agency said.

Baker couldn't be contacted for some time, but the deputy's car was eventually tracked by GPS to a wooded area 2 or 3 miles away. The deputy was found dead inside of it.

The sheriff said Baker, 32, was one of their best, working his way up to sergeant on patrol during 10 years with the department. He also served in the Marine Corps Reserves. Baker was survived by his wife and daughter. Rest in Peace.

Wyandotte County sheriff deputy ^ Patrick Rohrer, 35, has died and another deputy is in critical condition at the University of Kansas Hospital after both were shot Friday morning as they transported an inmate for a hearing at the Wyandotte County Correctional and Court Services building.

Rohrer had been with the department for seven years. Rest in Peace. The identity of a female deputy who was also shot was not disclosed; hoping she pulls through.

Officials described a terrifying scenario in which a suspect may have obtained a gun from the deputies and shot them as they got the suspect out of the van and prepared to bring the suspect into the court services building.

"When they pulled into the parking lot ready to transport these inmates they (the deputies) were overcome," said Wyandotte County Sheriff's spokeswoman Kelli Bailiff during an afternoon press conference at the University of Kansas Hospital. "It is very possible that with their own firearm they were shot."

An unidentified suspect was also shot and transported to a hospital. The suspect's condition was unknown.

The shooting happened in a gated portion of the back parking lot of the court services building. The Wyandotte County Correction and Court Services building, which is immediately north of the Wyandotte County Courthouse, is used for juvenile courts, community corrections and also has two criminal courtrooms.

Antoine Fielder was already facing homicide charges pertaining to two separate murders before he allegedly shot and killed Deputy Patrick Rohrer and Deputy Theresa King, 44, in Kansas City Friday morning. I wonder why he was able to do this. Was he not shackled?

Fielder allegedly got a hold of a deputy’s firearm while in the transport vehicle, according to sources. It is unclear at this time whether one of the two deputies shot the suspect or whether a third deputy stepped in to shoot the suspect

Very sad. I hope this prompts a change in the transportation of the criminals. I am surprised if no one was waiting for them on the receiving end as back up.

Also I assume the inmate did not get away. What did they have to gain from this?

Edit: Inmate is in hospital.

For some reason I was thinking there were 2 inmates. There was only 1, wow!

I'm sorry to hear Deputy King didn't make it. Rest in peace.

I don't know why Antoine Fielder ^ wouldn't have been shackled, if he wasn't.

This story is sad and strange. There is surveillance of the court parking lot where the two deputies were shot, allegedly by inmate Fielder. Police are reportedly reviewing it.

I imagine police already know what went down. It's possible that the deputies breached some protocol and Fielder seized the opportunity to prey upon them, for no other reason than that's what he likes to do.

No word yet on how Fielder got injured nor his condition. Based on his rap sheet, he's a real piece of shit.

Kent, Washington

Officer Diego Moreno was killed on Sunday.  He is described by the Police Chief and the Mayor as an incredible human being who served the force with great honor for 8 years.

Officer Moreno, originally from Venezuela, saved a woman from an opioid overdose last year.  He also saved a woman from a house fire in 2016, and he would put up his own money to help kids buy what they wanted at the annual Shop with a Cop charity.

Rest in Peace. What a shame he lost his life so young.  He is survived by his wife and two young children.

Moreno was killed by another police officer who was chasing a truck containing three teenagers.  The teenagers were fleeing a location where shots had been fired and Moreno was laying tire spikes in the road to slow them down.

The police officer who struck Officer Moreno during the pursuit is an 18 year veteran of the force and is in critical condition .  His name is not being released.  He also crashed into an SUV and hit some bystanders who are reportedly okay now.

The three young suspects have all been apprehended.  They have not been publicly identified, possibly because they're minors, and it's not publicly known whether they've been charged with any crimes.

I was hoping this officer would pull through.  But, he died one week after being shot in the head.  Rest in peace Adam Jobbers-Miller, 29.

Officials said Jobbers-Miller of the Forty Myers PD was shot in the head by a fleeing suspect while responding to a reported assault and cellphone theft at a gas station.   He'd been with the department for four years.

^ The suspect, 29-year-old Wisner Desmaret, was taken into custody after being shot by another officer.  He shouldn't have been on the streets in the first place, in my opinion.

Desmaret is a Haitian national who has a lengthy criminal record, including cases that were dismissed due to his mental incapacities.  ICE had been alerted more than once.  His father says Desmaret initially came here on a legal visa.

Desmaret was charged with attempted murder of a police officer; those charges will likely be upped to murder or manslaughter shortly and ICE has now filed detainment papers.

PHOENIX -- A man with a history of mental illness used the gun of an Arizona state trooper to shoot and kill a rookie officer in training and wound another two troopers during a fight along an interstate in suburban Phoenix last Thursday.

Police identified the slain officer as 24-year-old Tyler Edenhofer.  Rest in peace.

The shooting occurred after troopers responded to reports of a person throwing rocks late Wednesday at vehicles on Interstate 10 roughly 15 miles west of downtown Phoenix. A struggle followed with a third trooper who was not shot, but injured.

Officers took 20-year-old Isaac D. King ^, of Avondale, into custody and transported him to a hospital, where he remained Thursday. Authorities would not say why he was hospitalized. King was on medication for anxiety and depression and had no criminal record.

"We've talked to his parents, his mother particularly, who has been cooperative and thought he was in the backyard during this event. She said at about 9:30 p.m., he'd been outside on the trampoline," Col. Frank Milstead, director of the Arizona Department of Public Safety, said.

Rest in peace State Trooper Kevin Conner, 38.

Conner had two children, ages 5 and 11, and was married to a music instructor at Southeast Community College, according to his obituary.

Conner is known in the Whiteville area as one of two troopers “hailed as heroes” in August 2011, after they helped two drivers involved in a head-on crash on US 74.  His quick actions helped save lives.

Investigators said in a press release that Conner was shot at about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, after he pulled over a pickup for speeding on US 701 in Columbus County.

Conner got out of his patrol car and “the driver of the pickup then fired several shots,” said a statement. The driver then sped off.

A local named Hilton Cox heard the gunshots and went out to investigate.  He found Trooper Conner on the ground and tried to comfort him after calling 911.

“I told him everything will be OK. It will be fine. He would make it through this,” Hilton said. “The trooper was still gasping for air. He was still breathing and still had a good pulse.”

Meanwhile, police were quick on the scene and began their search for the (stolen) white pickup which had sped away toward the Fair Bluff community where its front tires became lodged between some railroad tracks,

The driver then took off on foot, but was apprehended and arrested following an intensive search by officers from four counties.
