Syria
After a lot of warnings and push back from the military and senators, President Trump has walked back his order to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria in 30 days.

That was a reckless order which did not consider the needs of our military or our allies and benefited our opponents.

Military planners say they need about 120 days to carry out a quick but efficient withdrawal.  That will afford them time to decide which equipment to move elsewhere in the region, which equipment to leave behind with allies, and which equipment to disable to prevent it from falling into the hands of the Syrian government or Russia or Iran.

National Security Adviser Bolton is reportedly headed to Israel and Turkey next week.  Hopefully, the U.S. will not leave the Kurds out to try and Bolton will make clear that Turkey will pay a price if they wage war on the Kurds in Syria.  Based on history, I don't have much confidence we'll do the right thing though.

Bullshit. Stop stating subjective opinions as fact.

The order was a great order. War generals do not make plans willingly to disengage. In the same way Pharmaceutical companies do not willingly make cures but rather they make potions and pills to mask or ease symptoms of diseases.

America ought not have been there in the first instance. Needless sacrifice of American troops for not a lot of end result. Same goes for most of the Middle East. America is NOT the war police.

Trump making a hard and fast line in the sand and putting the Generals and such on notice that he was not interested in perpetual, disengaging sometime in the future, allowed them to scramble and come to the party not with the expectation that they would be able to give reasons why they should stay but rather how quickly a withdrawal could safely be made.

Trump listened to them and agreed on 120 days. He is still withdrawing and for the right reasons. He negotiated well with people who would have stayed there into perpetuity.

Why would you have stated as fact that it was reckless. It was a great decision and well-played out.

You're incapable of rational discussion FryGuy; the master of over-emotional outrage and bullshit.

"reckless": marked by lack of proper caution : careless of consequences.

If it wasn't in fact a reckless order, there would be no need to extend the full withdraw of troops from Syria by 3x the original timeline.

Republican and Democrat senators, along with military leaders, pushed back because the repercussions of such a reckless order could lead to allies being put in harm's way and U.S. military equipment getting into the hands of people who could use it against our interests.

I don't care that you disagree and think the original order was, in fact, 'great'.  Fortunately, President Trump listened to more rational and knowledgeable minds and revised it.

Nope, you are too stupid to realise he is doing what he has been doing for the last 3 years. He wants a result, he asks for more money than he needs, or for the result in a shorter time than he needs or loaded with more conditions than he needs, with the expectation that if people really oppose it he has ground to negotiate.

How you can not have noticed this after three years, says nothing about me and everything about you.
