ANOTHER SCHOOL/PUBLIC SHOOTING

Google can't tell me what that means.

I'm not sure what it means either. But, I think it's Biggie's derivative of the "bow chick a bow bow" or "brown chicken brown cow" 1970s' porno background music.

Some updates:

Yesterday the mother of one of the murdered students posted that her daughter, Shana Fisher, had been hit on aggressively by the shooter for 4 months and he wouldn't take no for an answer.

The mother claims her daughter finally stood up to the shooter in class last week, which embarrassed him.

According to the affidavit, the shooter confessed right away and told police that he didn't shoot people he liked because "he wanted to have his story told", but police are reportedly still investigating motive.

So, it's not clear if this is yet another case of a male killing people, in full or part, because he couldn't handle rejection by a female(s).

Some of the student witnesses are reporting that the shooter shouted "surprise!" when he blasted into the art room and started shooting.

The survivors/witnesses said that the shooter kept blasting through the closet door with his dad's shotgun, where several students had barricaded themselves. When their cell phones began ringing, he taunted them by saying, "do you think it's for you, do you want to come answer it?"

It's still not confirmed publicly whether the shooter, a student, or a teacher pulled the fire alarm.

Yesterday, the shooter's parents released a public statement stating that they were as shocked and confused as anyone else by these events that occurred.

The statement also read, "we are gratified by the public comments made by other Santa Fe High School students that show Dimitri as we know him: a smart, quiet, sweet boy -- while we remain mostly in the dark about the specifics of yesterday's tragedy, what we have learned from media reports seems incompatible with the boy we love."

All I want to know from his parents is why their son was able to access dad's guns.

Also yesterday, the last of the ten fatal victims was identified by his family as Jared Black.

Jared turned 17 three days before he was murdered. Rest in peace.

If I had my way, Dad would now be facing the same charges as his son.

It would be a way to better ensure that guns are truly secure.

I saw someone say this -

You’re afraid we will take away your guns.

We’re afraid your guns will take away our children.

We haven’t taken any of your guns.

Your guns have taken too many of our children.

Whose fears are unfounded?

I feel terrible for the families of the students murdered at Santa Fe High School. But the father of the girl the shooter reportedly harassed before killing her is way off base, in my opinion.

He blames the teachers at the school for not predicting the teen would go do what he did. It's not the teachers' fault, of course. The father made no mention of the teacher who died shielding a female student survivor.

The father of Shana Fisher, who was raised by her grandfather rather than either of her parents, also said that as a Christian he would not wish death on the 'messed-up' boy who killed his daughter, even if death was a legal option.

The shooter is charged with capital murder. But, if he's convicted, he won't get the death penalty because he's under 18. He also won't get life without parole for the same reason. The toughest sentence possible by law is life with the possibility of parole after 40 years.

Yes, he was shot by the shooter if I'm not mistaken.

The Santa Fe HS resource officer, 49-year-old John Barnes, recently retired from the Houston PD.

As posted upthread, he was reportedly first to confront the teen shooter and incurred shotgun blasts to the elbow and shoulder.

Barnes was still in critical condition as of this weekend. He nearly bled out and experienced two cardiac arrests. He was resuscitated.

According to the latest reports, his chances of survival have fortunately improved.

He didn't want to shoot a kid is my bet. Who would? Then he hesitated. When its all figured out we will know.

I doubt that Barnes had reservations about shooting a shotgun-wielding teen who was shooting at him, other teens, and teachers. Seems more likely to me that the teen had the opportunity to incapacitate Barnes before Barnes could incapacitate him.

Barnes had 23 years of police experience and was trained in active shooter situations, which includes those perpetrated by teens.

But yeah, the picture will be clearer when a timeline of events is available.

One thing we know from LE is that several responding officers exchanged gunfire with the teen for 15 to 25 minutes before he surrendered. The teen shooter was heavily armed and prepared.

The explosives the teen planted around campus were made from pressure cookers, nails, and alarm clocks. That’s another thing LE has confirmed. They were not detonatable. Reminds me of the Columbine situation.

Are you implying tthat a better trained resource officer with more of Rambo-like demeanor would’ve taken this guy out and nobody would’ve been killed and we’d all be happy?

Wow! I hope that’s not what you’re insinuating.

To think, our children’s lives depend on a resource officer to come to the rescue and save their lives, when they clearly are at a disadvantage when they come on the scene.

Remember everybody, it’s not the easy accessibility to guns thst’s killing our kids and other innocent Americans, it’s poorly trained resource officers.

In terms of the timeline........LE confirmed today that they arrived on the scene of the Santa Fe HS shooting 4 minutes after the shooting began, and responding officers exchanged fire with the shooter for 25 minutes before the shooter surrendered.

The primary weapon was a sawed-off shotgun. If the shotgun was sawed off by the shooter’s father, that could be a crime.

LE cannot confirm if all the victims were shot by the teen suspect or whether some were instead shot during crossfire between the teen and police. LE is waiting for autopsy results and reviewing school surveillance cams in order to answer that question.

I think that those who accept NRA money are going to start running into issues at the polls. People are understanding that the only way to get their voices heard is to vote out those associated with the NRA.

Yesterday, LE confirmed that there were two resource officers at Santa Fe High School.

It hasn't been directly stated that the wounded resource officer, Barnes, was armed. But, the other resource officer (not yet publicly identified) who approached the shooter with Barnes fired at least one shot at the shooter.

LE says that after Barnes was shot the other resource officer contained the shooter to one room so the hundreds of responding officers who arrived on the scene could evacuate the students on other parts of the campus.

The Galveston sheriff said the officers tried to negotiate with the shooter verbally for much of the 25 minutes they engaged with him and the officers kept their fire to a minimum while the teen kept shooting at them. The shooter was in a classroom and the officers were in the hallway.

The sheriff expanded upon (or changed?) the description of the explosive devices the shooter planted. He said the devices found were so-called cricket bombs, made by filling spent carbon dioxide cartridges with gunpowder and adding a fuse.

Unsurprisingly, it was also confirmed that the Santa Fe HS shooter studied other mass murderers. The pipe bombs, the trench coat, and the detailed journals are straight out of the Columbine playbook.
