Cowards Who Prey on Animals
It's good to see you crash, but what the fuck are you banging on about? Awink

(07-31-2015, 09:42 AM)crash Wrote: I find it amusing that humans bang on about racism and equality but we don't afford the same things to animals, which ironically another thing we like to bang on about...when it suits us.

Humans are interesting that way. Amusingly enough, we don't have unlimited capacity to focus upon and discuss everything in the world at one time.

(07-31-2015, 09:42 AM)crash Wrote: Why do we make one animal more valuable than another? More than half of us drank the milk of a cow today who had her calf taken away from her and knocked on the head because it's a by-product of the milk trade. A couple of thousand kangaroos will be shot in the head over here this weekend for pet food all around the world blah blah blahdy fucking blah..

While I find the processes by some raisers to be very sad and deplorable, I don't feel that eating food raised for consumption makes me someone who cowardly preys on animals. However, I know there are many people who disagree with me and hold me and others who don't choose a vegetarian or vegan diet in contempt.

You, and they, could consider me a hypocrite or an animal racist/supremicist for eating chicken without guilt or concern last night while simultaneously caring about what happened to Cecil the lion and holding his killers in contempt. That's fine.

Personally, I've never had a problem with humans who hunt for food or survival or self-defense. But, I do have a problem with people who illegally and/or cruelly hunt and poach animals for perceived glory, photo opportunities, and ego. They're very unattractive human beings and at the bottom of the food chain, in my book.

(07-31-2015, 09:42 AM)crash Wrote: But Cecil was famous..

I don't care that Cecil was reportedly famous to some; I think I posted that upthread. And, I don't get the sense that most anyone commenting even knew of Cecil before he was killed. Now that we've heard the story, some of us care enough to comment. The response to his killing is not related to his "fame", IMO. None of the animals and their cowardly abusers/killers who are featured in this thread were known to us before their stories were published, and still some of us care enough to comment and express disgust.

I think it's presumptuous and off-base of you to assert that people who are silly enough (in your mind) to give a shit about specific lives and deaths other than our own -- in and outside of our own races and species -- would care less if this story, for example, pertained to an unknown leopard named Beanie that was illegally and cruelly killed by an Australian chiropractor who'd been found guilty of poaching before and was now in hiding from law enforcement authorities. I think people would care equally and respond similarly to that scenario as they are to the true story of Cecil and Palmer.

If we ate lions for food, would the shitstorm be so fierce? Probably not, because if we ate lions, there'd be plenty of them about, like cows (Thanks Karl Pilkington haha)

In my experience, it's pretty normal for people to fantasize about turning the tables on offenders who prey upon the vulnerable. Anyway, nobody here has threatened any of the poachers or their families with physical violence. But, I don't doubt that some people on social media have done so - which I agree is wrong and ignorant.

(07-31-2015, 09:42 AM)crash Wrote: I dunno, I think that Dentist is an asshole for the way he killed the lion. I don't understand his need to do it in the first place; it's not like it's a fair fight. But I think if I get all pissy and threatening about him doing it, I probably should get upset about the cow farmers too, and the chicken people who squash fifty chickens into a square foot and the pig farmers who do the same. But then there goes my bacon and eggs and glass of milk for breakfast...and I like bacon and eggs

I can't help but feel unless we're vegan, we're all preying on animals a bit.

Though I don't share it, I understand your internal conflict.

So, if you ever make it back to San Francisco, I won't talk about my contempt for animal abusers and glory-poachers over breakfast (unless we're having pancakes or waffles or something like that).
If some tribesman killed a lion for food or self defense nobody would care. But this asshole tortured and killed the lion for nothing other than fun. There's a difference.

Sure I eat meat, does that mean it would also be ok if I murdered the stray cat that hangs around my house just for shits and giggles? Maybe beat the shit out of the dogs and chop their heads off? May as well since I had a steak for dinner last night.
killing animals is not "fun" but sometimes a necessity.
You couldn't get a clue during the clue mating season in a field full of horny clues if you smeared your body with clue musk and did the clue mating dance.

I once saw a pig shot for a bbq and I damn near fainted. Smiley_emoticons_slash Needless to say, I didn't partake when the pig was done roasting.

I have SOME limitations (and they're senseless but they're mine). I don't eat veal or lamb and I buy "cage free" or free range chickens/eggs. Oh and no foie gras.

It is somewhat hypocritical but Cecil was killed for fun as far as I know. That bugs me. Same with people taking their anger out on animals that aren't going to fight back (like the dog/tape). That's just cruel/senseless.

This is kinda how I feel. Don't get me wrong, I think the dentist is a cunt. Do I want to drive over there and 'put tape around his dick until it falls off'? Probably not.

If you eat or use animal products, you are preying on animals. Just own that shit. I almost laugh when I hear people try to justify it to themselves, and others, with 'I use the whole animal, to respect it', shit I've probably said it myself in the past.

If you get diwn to brass tacks, you raised a defenceless creature to kill it and eat it. You hunted a wild animal out of its habitat to kill it and eat it. But because I ate 89.86% of it, it's ok to hang its head on the wall of my great room.

Whoa hang in there, we need food to survive? Yep, but we can survive without eating meat. Millions of vegans are doing it every day.

Yep, I eat meat. I know that some of the pork I eat probably comes from sources who have less than perfect conditions for growing and slaughtering their animals. My beef too. A plethora of harmless sea creatures were probably caught in a net, died and were discarded so I could have that tuna sandwich.

I can own that, for now, because I like meat. I like the taste. I don't have to watch it die before I eat it. I don't have to cut the sheeps throat and watch it bleed out. I don't have to hear the three days of bellowing from a cow that just lost her calf, so make me up that milkshake. I've done it before; slaughtered and butchered animals. Just prefer not to now, but still enjoy eating them. Maybe that makes me the coward..
As far as I can see, everyone's owned their shit, crash. Not everyone feels the same way about it as you, is all.

Some of us can eat meat (or prey) raised or killed for consumption, without feeling conflicted or prohibited from expressing disdain towards people who kill/poach for nothing more than glory and bragging rights (or towards people who abuse/kill pets).

You can view us as hypocritical and I get what you're saying. But, it sounded like you were kind of condemning meat-eaters for caring and discussing the case; as if only non meat-eaters are entitled to do so. I think that's bullshit. It's never bad for people to truly care about something, even people who happen to be imperfect hypocritical meat-eaters.
No one eats lions, Crash. They weren't bred for food like cows and chickens. They're an endangered animal and Cecil was in the national park for a purpose, which wasn't to be tortured and killed by an asshole dentist who wanted to hang his head over his bed. I'm not understanding your argument.

There is a food chain and there should be a food chain, but Cecil wasn't on it.

A couple of strange horse-related cases in Florida are being seriously pursued by law enforcement.

The remains of a 12-year old award winning show jumper horse by the name of Phedras de Blondel were found early Sunday morning on a farm in Palmetto, a Manatee County town about 50 miles south of Tampa.

Manatee County detectives said the 1,300-pound animal was led from his stall at the 27-acre Imperial Farms between 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 6:45 a.m. Sunday. Phedras de Blondel was then taken to a pen in the back of the farm, where it was killed and expertly butchered.

Investigators say they believe the perpetrator was someone who wanted horse meat and knew that the farm had horses. They believe Phedras was chosen because the animal was big and heavy, according to the station.
The murder of Phedras de Blondel comes days after two South Florida bodybuilders were arrested for alleged animal abuse.

Three starving horses were allegedly found on a ranch near Miami owned by Milagros Cowan, 50, and her husband, Alex Paez, 48.

The couple was charged with four misdemeanor counts of animal abuse. They were reportedly also arrested on similar charges four years ago and attended pre-trial intervention training for first time offenders. Obviously, they didn't learn their lesson.

Paez’s lawyer, Alexander Michaels, on Friday said the newest charges “were no big deal.” “I wish the police would spend more time on human victims, and child victims, than on horses who skipped a meal,” Michaels said.

Back in May, police and animal-rescue workers found three malnourished horses at the couple’s ranch in rural South Miami-Dade. All sported overgrown, untrimmed hooves that made walking difficult for the the animals.

The ranch grounds were so cluttered that the horses had little room to walk.

That bullshit has been going on here for a couple years now. There have been some arrests but it keeps getting worse. Its the 3rd worlders doing it for the most part.

There is also a case going on here, 2 assholes had horses and let them starve. There were even busted a few years ago for the same thing.

Prosecutors have charged two bodybuilders with animal abuse after three starving, emaciated horses were found on their rural South Miami-Dade ranch, the Miami Herald reported Friday.

Milagros Cowan, 50, was arraigned Friday on four misdemeanor counts of animal abuse. Her husband, Alex Paez, 48, was earlier charged with the same counts and is scheduled for trial in December.

The two — who travel across the country to compete in bodybuilding competitions — were arrested on similar horse-abuse charges four years ago. The charges were dropped after they completed a “pre-trial invevention” program for first-time offenders.
Thanks Six -- I think we were posting at the same time.

The couple you posted about is pictured in the story posted above yours. Here's another one of the horses rescued from their ranch.

It pisses me off that they were busted for horse abuse/neglect a few years back, let off the hook after taking classes, and then did it again. Those horses are bags of bones and very unkempt. Cruel, selfish assholes.

Anyway, I'm glad their three horses are now in the care of a rescue shelter.
Do they get some kind of sick enjoyment out of abusing horses or do they just buy them to pose for ridiculous pictures and then forget about them? WTF. Freaks.

Total freaks.

They reportedly travel a lot; looks like they just don't give a shit whether the horses are fed or kept up.

It's not like they can try to use ignorance as a defense since they've already had to go to classes for the same effin' crimes against horses.

So, their attorney is kind of putting responsibility on the horses; "horses that skipped a meal", he described them as. What a scumbag.

Yeah, I guess this horse and the couples' other two horses just decided to cut down on their caloric intake, is all. 52
my stomach is so sick from seeing that picture. : (
Fucking ridiculous!
To be a feminist is simply to believe that everybody should be treated equally, regardless of sex. It means you think that there should be equality of the sexes economically, socially, politically and personally. When you put it like that, it’s surely difficult for anybody to deny being a feminist. But for such a simple concept, it is often dramatically misunderstood.

Do they get some kind of tax break or something for having horses and a garden then calling the property agricultural or something? I cannot think of any other reason for that crap. If they cannot afford the horses give them away or put them down. Don't torture the god damned things.

Former soldier Marinna Rollins, 23, and her boyfriend, Army soldier Jarren Heng, 25, are seen in a video allegedly tying her service dog, Cam, to a tree (above) before shooting him.

They filmed the North Carolina murder and bragged in their postings. Before they shot Cam to death and laughed about it, Heng can be heard asking to kick Cam.

Cam was a comforting emotional service dog. Rollins received him for her reported PTSD.

Rollins was being held on $10,000 bail and Heng on $5,000 bail, but after an outcry by animal lovers, their bails were raised to $25,000, according to the Justice for Cam Facebook page.

I hope these two get shot, beaten and raped and then set on fire.

I second this.
I also hope they're stripped of any veterans entitlements they might have earned.
I'm assuming, since he's still active, he could face dishonorable discharge over this, anybody know?

fucking cunt. They would make her take that shit out of her face in jail right? Or could another inmate maybe...ya remove them?
